    Awesome reaction, only thing I have to say is that a lot of the members of the beatbox community actually understand music theory way better than you'd expect. Lots are qualified and have studied several instruments throughout the years :)

    Beatbox is acapella. Beatboxers are allowed in acapella competitions. In fact, the beatbox duo spiderhorse have won acapella competitions, like Vokal Total, an international acapella competition in Austria. Basically, they outclassed everyone because they can sing as well as the others but are worlds above in terms of drums and creating low bass.

    Thanks for analyzing Jairo! There’s not a hard line between acapella and beatboxing with a lot of singing but they kind of refer to different scenes. Jairo competes in beatboxing events so they’re more known as beatboxers but they could easily market themselves as acapella if they wanted.

    Very interesting analysis, I only disagree with a few things you said... I think you rushed into giving such opinion without knowing a little more about beatboxing. We have musicians, producers, engineers, and great artists in many different art forms... Fortunately there are tons of live performances and also live recording audio tracks so you can hear what modern beatbox can do without any enhancement (we will always try to preserve the essence of beatbox, even though this kinda productions are becoming a thing, to engage another type of audience)... I will recommend "D-low - Kick back battle compilation", "Napom GBB 2021 elimination" those two for the inhuman sounds and for the musical part "Show Go - You're Gone"... You'll be mind blown 🤯... Hope you can check them out and Welcome to the beatbox community!!!

    Some additional info about their other live performances if you want to check them out. Their performances at the Grand Beatbox Battle on the channel Swissbeatbox are without in-ear monitoring so it’s much more difficult to perform accurately. Their Grand Beatbox Battle wildcard on their channel is a live performance under better conditions but it’s also their “best take” rather than what an average performance would be like.

    Good point about how Acapella and Beatbox are different from each other? I feel since Beatboxing has it's roots in Hip Hop, it's more Drums oriented while Acapella with it's influences in Choir has more emphasis on vocal techniques. Jairo is more towards an exception in beatbox since they focus more on musicality as a tag team.
    Musical Beatboxers like Gene Shinozaki, River, Codfish are worth checking out. Musical tag teams like Roguewave and Spiderhorse are again beautiful. Robin beatboxing with Loopstation is insane.
    But my one recommendation more than anything would be checking Den-Searching for you. It's acapella plus beatboxing at a crazy level.
    For non Musical beatboxers who are focused on techniques like drum patterns or hitting pure bass sounds, let's keep it for some other day lol.

      I think beatboxing will revolutionize acapella. Beatboxing is not anymore about just drums. Beatboxing now, emphasizes good quality on drums, bass and unique vocal techniques and these are everything acapella doesn't have. For me, musical beatboxers also includes someone like Colaps, who also focused on drum patterns and bass sounds.

    great analysis man!
    let me give you some background info that other people havnt said
    jairo are very talented beatboxers but they represent a smaller portion of the scene as most of the popular ones are technical based, as you said ones who do very fast multi layered percussions and mimics of other familiar sounds.
    this is because most of the popular beatbox videos come from competitions, mainly GBB.
    though i suspect part of the reason these battle videos being more popular is because the competitions are live which give it more of a special vibe.
    many of the musical based beatboxers dont compete and are only well known within the community. maybe showgo is sort of known outside the circle.
    jairo have had the best results at GBB as a musicality focused group in recent years. not counting loopstation
    also regarding music theory if you look in the details of this video you can see it is mixed by shimoren. shimoren is a world class beatboxer as well, got 1st in a japan competition, but his main activity is in
    acappella groups as the beatboxer and arranger. you can check out a familiar song he arranges here
    ruclips.net/video/udtJSgOds0s/видео.htmlsi=n0ftTEmeZs7d6kZ3
    i think shimoren gives jairo a strong hand in creating the “not just a beatbox but actual song” vibe

    C'mon man: it is not that hard. The long haired guy is not alone doing the high notes. Base guy jumps in at the middle. And that end base sound is partial overtone, like Tuva singing ( or growling). A lot happened in the world before USA existed. I admit; he redeemed himself at the end.

      @YnEoS10 6 месяцев назад +4

      You also have to realize that beatbox competitions don’t have in-ear monitoring which makes it extremely more difficult to perform.
      Their wildcard is an example of how well they can do live when they select their best take. I don’t think we have any performances showing what their average take is like with in-ear monitoring.

    • @streetninja510
      @streetninja510 6 месяцев назад +4

      They do get pretty close tho! Most of the issues they have live are some pitching issues here and there, and that’s considering no ear monitors, a lot of it still sounds amazing live. Especially those bass notes

      Respectfully you’re incorrect. But I’m not here to break people’s hearts. Believe what you want. I may not be an expert at beatboxing but I have been recording music since 1995. Understand that I have heard enough beatboxing to know that humans can make absolutely mind blowing sounds with their mouths, but there is absolutely reverb applied to that snare sound. If only to embellish the “reverb” he is applying by himself as part of his vocal sound.
      I should also point out that I 100% believe that these guys are absolutely capable of reproducing this live to mind blowing effect, with nothing more than two microphones, but as I stated in the video, 99% of the time things are accentuated in the recording process to capture the magic of a true live performance.
