I have owned a few Suzuki's and they have been brilliant. I test drove the Vitara turbo All Grip yesterday and it was fantastic. Yes its not as flashy as a few of its competitors but just read some actual owner reviews and people just rave about the Vitara. The way the all wheel drive works makes this car much safer in all weather (this wasn't mentioned) and the power is only delivered to the wheels if they start slipping, which saves fuel and makes it far more economical than most constant all wheel drives and it was a joy to drive, its a hoot!! As part of my research I have been stopping and talking to owners wherever I go and its the same story, a reliable vehicle they love. I can't see how soft touch fabrics and digital displays make a good car? and to be honest a lot of people said the finishes are great for a family car, e.g. tough and hard wearing. I suggest that you do your own research because I feel that often certain vehicles are highly rated because these companies pay for the reviews.
I have a non hybrid version of this with the 1.4 boosterjet engine in sz5 trim. It is an awesome car. In my opinion it has the best engine of all the small SUV's in this price range. It is a 1.4 4 cylinder turbocharged chain driven engine unlike most of it's rivals which are overstressed 1 litre 3 cylinder turbos. The Suzuki engine is very gutsy and is very quiet and effortless on a motorway. A lot of car for the money.
Great punchy engine, well balanced gear ratio, and light kerb weight.... what more can you want. Capable in town and motorways, too. Big comfortable seats, front and back, stable in corners but soft over bumps. High clearance, small turning circle, big space and good visibility. Great stereo sound. And last but not least...not thirsty at all. But again...that engine...my oh my...it pulls...and pulls.
The boot takes a full size MTB without removing the front wheel. Sport mode really makes the car fly and it does 45mpg on a half decent run. The infotainment system manages Apple CarPlay and Android functionality which isn’t available on several competitors and it’s a mature system that works well - I have the 2019 SZ5 model.
As much as everyone hates a/c controls on a screen (not on this car, amen) a screen is just cheaper than individual buttons hey. Good on Suzuki for not putting mini screens on the steering wheel.
sliding rear seats would put them up higher, leaving even less headroom on those seats. Anyways, a lot of your "complaints" are plusses in my book. The less electric stuff in the car (electrically adjusted seats for example) the less there is to go wrong
Thanks for the review. I was sitting in Skoda Kamiq, Ford Puma and just today in Suzuki Vitara. In my opinion the interior of Suzuki Vitara is much better that the other cars and most of the cars on the market and the only I know that is a better one is Subaru Forester. I'm talking about the general feeling and space when you are inside of the car. Regarding to other aspects Suzuki makes more reliable cars than VW for sure, a the option with only one engine only tells me that this engine is a better designed one (since all the efforts was put in only one engine) and it will be also easier to find a parts for it and repair it.
In 2023 Allgrip is no longer available on the SZ-T. So if you want 4WD you have to get the range topping SZ5 version. The manual SZ5 Allgrip Boosterjet MHEV is the one to go for... VERY good value.
These sites criticise Suzuki's about stupid things, I'm on my 3rd Vitara, my latest the 2023 1.5 automatic full hybrid and getting just under 50mpg, don't always listen to these reviews and they always forget to tell you how high up on the reliability scale Suzukis are.
I'm looking for a car with good reliability, comfort, good fuel economy, good looks and a reasonable price. If you are picking your car based on if it has soft materials and its door bottle holder size, then you are probably going to end up with a lemon.
Bought an sz5 manual yesterday in Atlantic turquoise. Very well-mannered during the test drive across a range of road surfaces from back country lanes to dual carriage way. Excellent service from tj vickers in Shrewsbury 👍
Great review. I have a previous generation Vitara, that shares pretty much the same look and features, but comes with a turbo diesel engine that's actually pretty amazing both in performances and in fuel economy (it is also pretty good for CO2 emissions, I wonder why Suzuki decided to stop offering it). I mostly agree with your impressions: my version of the Vitara is the flagship one (with all the infotainment goodies, driving assistance, sensors, camera and four wheel drive) and I have to say... it is very practical and sturdy... but it's full of hard plastics and in general, it doesn't feel premium at all. I confirm that the car is a beat noisy and that that the doors feel a bit too light. Rear seats are just ok for two kids and their baby seats (but they don't need yet a lot of leg room yet). The trunk however is amazing and its shape and double bottom is very clever. I use this car regularly as a family car, and when I go on long trips I can fit everything I need and more. I also need to talk about the amazing adaptive cruise control. It works like a charm and in general the car feels very safe and well balanced during long trips, even at high speeds. On the highway the cars drives almost by itself, and I never had an issue with its software. However, the steering wheel feels a bit too light at high speeds and I always fear to move it too much when overtaking a big truck on narrow lanes. If you plan to use it off road, remember that this is no more a grand vitara: it doesn't come with reduced gears so it's not a real offroader and can be difficult to drive on high slopes (expecially if you need to start uphill). Overall it is an excellent, sturdy and reliable middle sized family car, that could be more comfortable and refined, but that does its job flawlessy without attracting attention.
I think this is a fair review. I'm amazed, however, that s/he that wrote it considers the What Car? review to be a "great review" when it's so much at odds with his/hers.

As a motability customer I’m thinking of the allgrip vitara. Ok it may not be of the quality of its rivals but that doesn’t put me off & consumption isn’t a problem as I don’t do that many miles & 4 wheel drive may come in handy on Salisbury plain were I walk my dog. I like it.👍
I have one and it is very good. Fuel consumption on my 2 wheel drive version is in the high 40's on a motorway. At a steady 50 mph I can get high 50's mpg. Great car and very good engine.
You won’t be disappointed by the fuel economy of the AllGrip. I can easily do 45 mpg on a high speed motorway run and 40 mpg around town in warmer weather. It’s just starting to dip to 37 mpg around town which I think is very good, especially for an automatic.
Again bs about cheap plastics. Who the F is touching a dashboard every day? Suzuki's are for work not being fancy. I am 1.90 m and have a Vitara with sunroof and no problems at all with sitting up front.

Theres a reason, the Vitara is still with us, and it has nothing to do with soft touch dashboards.
So does the 4x4 Vitara have selectable 4 wheel drive, and thus run normally in 2 wheel drive? If so, surely the fuel consumption will be virtually the same (apart from the reduction due to weight increase) unless you select 4 wheel drive? Seems like plenty of car for the money if so.
Yes, it has selectable 4 wheel drive and also a Hill Descent mode. In standard Auto (on the mode selector dial) it 4WD will kick in when required. Sport mode also enables 4WD but without diff lock and Snow mode with Lock pressed makes it virtually unstoppable.

What about the Ssangyong Tivoli which undercuts the price and gets loads of tech to also it did come in 4x4 model but was never considered by motor Journalists even though the quality of interior and drive is better than this ?
I considered a Tivoli, but bought the Vitara as the engine is awesome and the car overall is a better drive than the Tivoli. Suzuki proven reliability is another factor.
You really don't like Suzuki. All reviews of Suzuki's that you did are very negative. Read comments of videos and you will see that people love them, while you just whine.
The Ford and Nissan can’t be put in the same class. The Skoda is the only comparable car, the VW is to expensive for comparison. Having owned 3 Suzuki’s, I have to say the cars are very easy to live with, reliable, economical (particularly in my current Swift). Also the service from the dealer has always been very good, far better than Ford provide. I have to say that Skoda were also strong on customer service when I had one.
Duster is not better off-road, I've watched plenty of videos comparing the two and the Suzuki usually wins. Its AllGrip system is more intelligent than the Duster.
I used to think the Duster was more capable off road, but after watching real world reviews against the Vitara, it is not. Heck I even saw a 2004 RAV4 4wd beat a 2021 Duster in off-road snow hill climbs. Really surprised me. The main thing the Duster has is ground clearance and price.
4 Cylinder, turbo, mild hybrid! VW and other manufactures do you listen????...if safety Euro NCAP is a bit better it would be best package on the market....
Currently have one as a courtesy car - it’s the entry trim - it’s horrid! The interior quality is about 15 years off the pace - it feels flimsy throughout. The only good point is the boosterjet engine - it’s incredibly perky! It’s by far the best small engine I’ve experience for year - would be fantastic in a supermini - Would I want one? even in a better spec? Absolutely not - it’s long past it’s sell by date.
It's short yet tall with a short wheelbase (tighter turns) which is super nice around town. You can get into small parking spots but still seat tall people in the back and have plenty of luggage space left. It's light and has wide tires and muddy or snowy forest paths are no problem with the 2WD on this car. My 2015 Vitara goes anywhere and you can even threshold brake without it cutting the gas.
Had another misfortune of having one as a courtesy car again - a year later. This car is absolutely dreadful to be on sale in 2024! it's beyond laughable in terms of interior design, fit and quality. It's truly like a 1990's vehicle. Every panel feels flimsy, the doors feel so light they may float away. I find it baffling a Japanese car maker could be making something like this in 2024 - Dacia, MG, Ssangyong (KGM) feel light years ahead! light years!!!!
Solid car I'm sure, but outside is just ok and hate the interior - they all cheap out on things but this one also looked dated even back in 2016. Just not my aesthetic style of vehicle at all.
I have had two of these vehicles, far betrer than your making out. More reliable and engine is excellent. And i am a motor mechanic. So your complaints are poor choice and i think your talking for the sake of talking. 😅😂😂
The moment they made the Ignis a mild hybrid instead of a proper one and tried charging more than a hybrid jazz was the moment I knew Suzuki were trying to take us for fools. Every dealer near me was also trying to sell a bottom range 1.0L vitals for over 22k. Suzuki are clearly deluded when designing and building their cars. There’s cheapness everywhere you look
We're asian and we won't copy Dacia, We're asian and we won't copy Dacia, We're asian and we won't copy Dacia, we're copying the Dacia because is the cheapest car in Europe.
When you own one (like me) the interior is not that bad and is very hard wearing nothing has fallen off. The engine is awesome and the Vitara is a very reliable and comfortable SUV.

0km/miles. It's a micro-hybrid, not a plug-in. The motor always runs on gas, but the additional electric motor gives a little push up to smoothen accelerations.
No, it is not a hybrid. More of a gimmick of one. The price hike of the last two years is more than real, though. For what is virtually the same car.
yup, but in many countries, like Switzerland, even mild hybrid will cut your vehicle tax by 50%
Isn't a Dacia Duster a SUV? Isn't a Duster cheaper?
And better than many so called suvs. (Hatchbacks)
@@Sevan59 Indeed.I'll be receiving my LPG/Petrol bi-fuel Duster in October. I'll have a better idea of it's pros and cons but it seems a very worthwhile package....
The Dacia is a very good SUV and Amazing value, but the Suzuki is a better drive.
@@bondjamesbond9041 Thanks. Just received my Bi-fuel Duster Prestige+ two days ago. Very happy thus far. Surprisingly quiet and comfortable to drive (I traded in a 2004 Vectra). Just working on how to keep LPG consumption down to a minimum!
@@maxkolbe8893
Well done Max Kolbe. I think the Duster is amazing value for money. I hope that you enjoy the car and have many trouble free miles. Take care.
Come on Suzuki just make the electric Jimny already.
the light and tinny doors helps keeps it 1200kgs
Does it have sat nav
2 higher models do.
You really don't like Suzuki. All reviews of Suzuki's that you did are very negative. Read comments of videos and you will see that people love them, while you just whine.
I found exactly what you said. This guy is way, way off the target compared to other reviewers.
Lovely Jubbly video, but stop comparing it to mainly VW Group cars, what about Mazda, Vauxhall and Peugeot to name a few others.
indicatores still at wrong side of headlights
Why is the Grand Vitara and others not available in Europe, such as in India? The Suzuki's there have much nicer interiors.
İf I keep watching reviews i would never buy a car .
Great car, no need for replacement, maybe facelift
the interior is terrible when compared to the Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur and Škoda Kamiq
@@kristians2704 that ways is double cheaper then the suvs you mentioned
@@kristians2704 Vitara is faster. 8.1 sec to 100 - it's the fastes suv!
The main competitor here is Dacia Duster which is cheaper, has a better road clearance and more capable off road. Also very reliable
But no one use these cars for off road...
This or Dacia Duster or SsangYong Tivoli?
4 Cylinder, turbo, mild hybrid! VW and other manufactures do you listen????...if safety Euro NCAP is a bit better it would be best package on the market....
There are NO owner benefits in stop/start systems. The only benefit is for the garages that repair the damage done by stop/start.
Skoda Kamiq a better car than Vitara?!? Very funny!
One is basically a hatchback and the other is basically a jeep
India launch 🇮🇳 ?
Already spied so much in India !
They do make the Switft Sport with the same 1.4 Boosterjet engine.
Disapointment... the old models was great and I remamber the sound isolation was good. the inerior feel old and outdated in 2023
SUV without 4wd is just a taller car for bad drivers to use in cities without destroying rims and bumpers.
no, you can still destroy rims - and with great aplomb. Shopping carts do the rest
When did Chris Martin start doing car reviews?
Oh no. Vitara ok. But forgettable in the market. An EV hybrid version. Doesn’t sound quite right.
Wonderful suv
This not a Hybrid review! ?
I think the Vitara has got uglier as time has gone on. Looks more and more like a Swift. The First-gen was the best IMHO, especially the soft top JLX.
Reminds me of a Dacia. Not worth the extra money.
u should educate yourself. read the comments above by owners. Dacias are junk compared to the Vitara.
Nice chest hair there...
Long in in India
Too small and too low. Do not like this model. Looks like a sedan
Fine
this opinion is more off a complain that "suzuki doesnt pays for reviews".Not so honest...
The Vital has lost its looks, very dull. Looks and feels cheap option, no thanks.
its uglier then Dacia Duster
Than
nicer*
Safety better, better design
It’s a very old car which needs replacing
The boosterjet engine is better than any engine fitted to rival SUV's Reliability is excellent too. I own one and would never swap for another brand.
Looks cheap
For the price the interior isn’t on par
When you own one (like me) the interior is not that bad and is very hard wearing nothing has fallen off. The engine is awesome and the Vitara is a very reliable and comfortable SUV.
