Iconic drums by Larry Mullen Jr. Very underrated, but lots of good songs with U2, I hope he recovers soon and can play again as soon as possible.
Great playing. Thanks for sharing with us.
I never cease to be blown away by the accuracy of the drum sound and performance. Perfection!
Is it just a coincidence that this video comes out only a couple days after the anniversary of the events that inspired the lyrics?
This part is a lot of fun to play, but I never felt like I was playing it correctly. This should help. 🙂
Thankyou. This confirms my ideas on how to program in the style of early U2. Not a tom was hit like New Years Day. No fills announcing a change from verse to chorus etc. It was drummed like a military cadet stuck on a drumkit. Many sections could be looped because of the repetitive nature. It ain't Rush, but that gives a certain sound.
this song was the first few songs i self-taught when i was 15
then i want to understand it's meaning,
tried to read the lyrics,
tried to read other review of it,
then it's the first time i understood what rocknroll is about.
it's about making a statement to the world
a statement that we don't need war or violence
a method so loud no one can ignore
........ and it has a 16 beat pattern that till this day still sound weird to me.
Ich habe genau den gleichen Hoodie
🤘👍👍🥁🔥 nice job!!
Genial
Woo hoo!
Leute wir brauchen ein recreating the drum sound of Bill Ward Video! 🤟🏻🙏🏻
I've never seen Pascal that focused ... the eyes literally glued to the chart.
But I understand ...
Larry's drumming is incredibly complex
That song in particular. So many different combinations of hats and snare…
I tried to get it as close as possible and didn't have that much time to prepare. I'm glad it worked out, but I had to concentrate.
@@pascal_thielen but you nailed it ! 👍🏻
Tim Alexander primus please!!!!!!
I think yall should do the caravan drum sound from whiplash
How many times am I gonna say it? Please do Scott Rockenfield of Queensryche!
Larry was definitely creative. Unfortunately, that train passed many years ago. Those parts were hooks!

00:40 No no no...the song doesn't starts like that.
I recorded a cover of this too, but now realise how sloppy it was 😂
I thought these rudes will be harsher.😅
All 3 musicians in U2 are geniuses at their instrument but aren't interested in showing off in any way.
Bono said once in an early interview that they formed U2 around the drums because Larry was easily the best musician out of the four of them. Even by this stage in their careers, he was definitely the most technically advanced member in the band.
Dead inside...
Staring at an IPad with no emotion just isn't it lol
