Making a Simple Steel Gate

  • We are redoing our pool area and I wanted to make a simple metal gate for it. This was my second big welding project and went a lot faster than the first time a made a gate. I fabricated the frame, welded the sheet metal to the frame, then mounted it. The gate is finished with Penetrol to hopefully slow the appearance of rust. I also used a self-closing spring.

    Can't use mig welding with gas in windy conditions the gas needs to shield the weld.

    hinges of that type on outside so security was not the reason for gate then

    • @mepro123
      @mepro123  6 лет назад +7

      Security wasn't a huge priority. If you look closely, the hinges are oriented opposite from each other so you can't simply lift the gate up and move it.
      The way I look at it, it would be much faster to just hop the fence than to disassemble the gate!

      Yes, it’s a mig welder.

    • @hugoquelquechosecommeca3560
      @hugoquelquechosecommeca3560 3 года назад

      en théorie il faut uniquement pousser,
      en pratique tant que tu fait pas dans la charpente métallique ou des pièces vraiment sensibles,
      tu peut te permettre de tirer tant que tu assure une bonne pénétration yaura aucuns soucis
      le problème c'est que t'aura une moin bonne protection gazeuse en tirant, donc plus de risques de soufflure etc et comme ton angle est pas le meme tu apporte ton metal différemment mais en général ca tient sans problèmes
      apres la oui jai jamais vu des "montantes" tirées on voit pas les soudures de pret donc je peut pas trop mavancer mais en france dans bcp de boite on fait encore des descendantes alors que c'est plus pratiqué dans pas mal d'autres pays donc bon niveau soudure pas catho on peut pas trop trop parler...
