Burt Lancaster belongs here I feel.
Edward G. Robinson gets my vote.
I agree that James Cagney should be on the list but higher than No 8. I know that anyone as old as I am would really only remember him playing gangsters. Have you ever seen Yankee Doodle Dandy? He was totally magical.
Orson Welles called him the best actor ever.I was a big fan of Cagney long before Welles his comment.
His dancing Was Magical in Yankee Doodle Dandy. Whenever I hear his name I picture him dancing up the side of the stage, First tier I saw it it took my breath away.
Yall forgot Vincent Price.
What did you say?
James Cagney. One talented guy. No doubt a kind Gentleman. Loved his misical talent. And is strong persona.
Yul Brynner should have been there.
I think the ranking is not fair ...I see Gary Cooper and Clark Gable should be ranked higher than Henry Fonda and Jimmy Stewart?
Love all these actors & their incredible talents. I would also add James Dean to this list- only 3 movies before he passed, but was an incredible actor & beautiful influence for up & coming stars.
They are all great!! Can’t choose!!
Or Jack Lemmon?
Really enjoyable to watch, Thank you
Well done list, especially the first 2, 2 of my all time favorites throughout the bulk of my 73 years👌
How about William Powell and Claude Rains?
You had me until you named Marlon Brando #1. If I had a list of the top 100, he wouldn’t be on it! Where is Burt Lancaster? Burgess Meredith?
I never could understand what he was saying. The Great Mumbler.
And I am of the opinion that Marlon Brando did not deserve his second Oscar he won for the Godfather. It was a vastly overrated performance. Brando gave a better performance the following year in Last Tango in Paris. Al Pacino gave a stronger performance in the Godfather than Marlon Brando did.
I agree. It's Humphry Bogart, James Stewart and Cary Grant for me along with Laurence Olivier. Where was Burt Lancaster or Robert Mitchum?
Cary Grant part of the Rat Pack? Not that I've ever heard.
He was referring to the original Rat Pack, which met at Humphrey Bogart's home, not the Vegas, Sinatra version
There are essentially, 2 Rat Packs. The first was Bogie's and was inclusive. Many stars of the day would attend the parties. the original members of the "Holmby Hills Rat Pack" were Frank Sinatra (pack master), Judy Garland (first vice-president), Bacall (den mother), Sid Luft (cage master), Bogart (rat in charge of public relations), Swifty Lazar (recording secretary and treasurer), Nathaniel Benchley (historian), David Niven, Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, George Cukor, Cary Grant, Rex Harrison, and Jimmy Van Heusen. David Niven confirmed in his book, The Moon’s Balloon, that the "Rat Pack" originally included him, but not Sammy Davis Jr. or Dean Martin. When Bogie died, the Rat Pack was taken over by Sinatra and became rather exclusive.
Marlon Brando has been my absolute favourite since I first saw him in Mutiny on the Bounty back in 1963 when I was only 9 years old.
Good morning and afternoon @VintageTVShows, 📼REQUEST: 24 Most Hollywood Actors And Actresses Becoming A Natural Blonds And Blondes. Including Kenneth Tobey And Simon Oakland!!
For heaven sakes, maybe one day, on one presentation, you can actually synchronize photographs with the soundtrack. Almost every single one was misplaced... Congratulations on a reallyahoddy job
No Charlton Heston? No William Holden? No Errol Flynn?
And may i say nice to see a collection of talent.
Gable also touched cultural (& culinary) history with Bugs Bunny's carrot habit! It tracks to Gable in "It Happened One Night" - in fact fostering a wrong belief in rabbits loving carrots especially.
I loved Jimmy Stewart. Harvey was my favorite of his roles.
Marlon Brando is the greatest actor because of his unmatched acting range. From 1950-60 he played a paraplegic in THE MEN, Stanley Kowalski in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, a Mexican revolutionary in VIVA ZAPATA, Mark Anthony, a Hell's Angel in THE WILD ONE. Terry Malloy in ON THE WATERFRONT, Napoleon in DESIREE, sang and danced in GUYS AND DOLLS, a Japanese man in TEAHOUSE OF THE AUGUST MOON, a contrite nazi in YOUNG LIONS then directed ONE EYED JACKS.
How about the 10 best actors of low budget campy films --
Johnny Weismuller -- Tarzan
Steve Reeves -- Hercules movies
Buster Crabbe - Flash Gordon
Harrison Ford - Han Solo, and Indiana Jones (high budget, but still camp, IMO)
William Powell - The Thin Man series
Sean Connery - James Bond (yeah, they are very camp. If you take those movies seriously, you need therapy).
Gene Autry - the singing cowboy was a very camp hero trope, IMO. Enjoyable, but strange if you stop to think about it.
Arnold Schwarzenegger -- for both Conan and Terminator series.
Ok...that's eight.
You missed Frederic March, Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas and Errol Flynn
Excellent list.
However, here are some other great actors that are equal to those --
Charles Laughton
Clint Eastwood
Michael Caine
Bette Davis
Peter O'Toole
Tony Curtis
Sylvester Stallone
Leslie Nielsen
Peter Sellers
Sydney Poitier
What about my fellow countrymen José Ferrer & Raúl Juliá ??? 🇵🇷
Laurence Olivier - nothing effortless about him slipping into varied Shakespeare (and other) roles! He worked VERY hard at it. P.S. An acting triumvirate member was "GEEL-gud", not Gilligud.
Another one: George C. Scott and Glenn Ford.
James Cagney n 1,
Robert Mitchum
Exactly. That's what I said!!!!!
Paul Muni
Jimmy Stewart was great but he was not a New Yorker. He was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania. His accent was definitely not that of any New Yorker that I ever heard. Of which I am one.
I'm sorry, but I don't understand your comment at all. Why is where James Stewart was born & raised so important to what a great actor he was?
Not a bad list.
You got it wrong with Fred Astaire. If he went into films in his 30s. Can't see how he was dancing over 7 decades before that.
He performed onstage with his sister, Adele, before he was in Hollywood.
Fred Astaire never won an Oscar. It got confused with George Burns.
No black actors??? Paul Robeson, Poitier….
And, did you make a video about 15 most respected actresses???
Last comment is this I first thought this video was about these actors being respected as men. I definitely disagree from that perspective. Some of them are loathsome men.
Now, I understand this video is about respect for their work and their dedication to the craft of acting based on opinions of fellow actors and the public at large. I agree from that perspective.
John Wayne ? Seriously. Only ever played John Wayne. Was a drunk also;
I agree, John Waynes could only ever play John Wayne. plus it didn't help that he was also a terrible actor.
These lists should not be ranked. I'm a bit surprised Brando is on the list. And Wayne? There is not much to respect there as an actor, if that is the criteria.
Not A bad list..Brando wasn't my favorite but i get the ranking
Brando should not be in the list. He raped an actress.
Daniel day Lewis above all ......
Burt Lancaster over Fred Astaire
I don't think Fred Astaire should be here at all. Jimmy Stewart was from Pennsylvania, not New York. I also think Brando should not be number 1. I'd put Edward G. Robinson and Burt Lancaster above Brando and Astaire.
Astaire was a faithful husband to Phyllis Potter until her death. He adopted her son. He never had affairs. This is about respected stars and Fred was amazing.
@@leonoranicolaysen2784- We're all entitled to our opinions.
Brando most respected,no.
John Wayne played the same personality in every part he ever played. Lousy actor. Fred was respected for his dancing, not his acting.
ty i made a good movie list!
I know who the true legend is it's the beautiful and so talented Alyssa Milano that's who the legend of Hollywood is.
