  • Feeling exhausted by OCD? You’re not alone. The good news is that it doesn’t have to last forever. In this video, Dr. Patrick McGrath and Ethan Smith talk about why OCD can cause exhaustion and share what you can do to regain your energy-and your life.
A key tip that can help is getting the right care for OCD. That means exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP)-the gold-standard treatment for OCD-done under the guidance of an OCD specialist, since professionals who don’t specialize in OCD may not fully understand it.
At NOCD, all of our therapists specialize in OCD, deeply understand all of its subtypes, and receive ERP-specific training from some of the top OCD experts and researchers in the world.

Your body is so used to living in survival mode, that even compulsions are resisting because it’s downright TIRING. You’ve carried so much. May you be gentle with yourself and remember the courage within that will help you to no longer resist yourself, even the times where you can’t even do your compulsions. That too is just a part of you. It’s not the entirety of who you are. Blessings and may you come to know that you are not alone, warrior. You are seen and you are free to not have it all figured out. There is seldom ever anything to “figure out”, rather, just understand... so that fear may dissolve. Bless your heart.

Idk why but hyper focusing on religion has helped me. When I see my bad intrusive thoughts as the devil it helps me. I don’t feel the shame and it’s quicker to make the brain switch. Idk just a cool thought.

Exactly.... Striving to be perfectionist in my work... I do Animation and deal with 100s of files and folder management... Client feedback, iterations..... My personal life gets affected... Always focused to create the best possible animation... The disheartening thing is when the clients or internal management, colleagues and juniors don't appreciate those efforts and follow on the benchmark set.... Becoming insomniac lately... 😅

Gareth, your words are full of gold. “Exhausted from resisting”... that’s just it. We don’t have to keep resisting. Resistance arises when we fear acceptance, but I hope this quote by Marie Curie can offer you some courage: “Nothing in life is to be feared, only understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” Courage in your journey, warrior. You don’t walk this path alone.
