    Remember, When people come to your house and you share your network password with them for their phone, that would be giving them access to your shared folders. Thanks for the video!

      If you use no authentication, then yes. If you use Windows authentication then it's a different password. At least, it should be. 😂🤣

    Believe me! I know *ALL* About This!!! My previous job I had to setup shared folders for scan-to-folder from multi-functional copy (MFP) machines. Absolute worst was doctor's & lawyer's offices as they changed their passwords every 90 days or so, which "broke" the scan-to-folder link. Path was fine but couldn't authenticate due to password change. I got to the point where ALL scanned files used a separate "user" only used for scanning with a password that never changed. End user still had access to the scan folder. Other method was to use a single central file server with individual file folders, all with the same login password which the folders were mapped to each individual computer. Best method is a static IP on each PC as hostname can sometimes fail in the path.

    • @CyberCPU
      @CyberCPU  2 месяца назад +6

      You can also make a hidden user account on the computer with your own password.
      I've done that many times. I typically name the user account scans to make it obvious what it's for and then use a custom password. That way you still have authentication on the folder but it's not tied to the password that changes periodically.
      If you do it that way you just have to remember to give the scans user permissions on the folder.

    I know this is a month old, did this to two computers of mine, one a desktop, running Windows 11 Pro, the other Win 11 Home, and is a laptop, both Dells.
    I just used the file share/private network in Windows to make it happen, and at this time, I only have music, photos and documents shared on both. Idea is to record audio to the laptop, and then transfer the files to the desktop to finish up the project.
    Being that I don't want to run ethernet cabling, the laptop connects to the wireless router, which then passes on via ethernet to the desktop. My printer is also networked via the ethernet connection and I did this once, where I had the laptop on the kitchen table and found a recipe on Serious Eats, hit cont+P and et voila, I had a printed copy from the kitchen. I think I can do that as well with my android phone too, though not for file sharing as I have not set that up as I am not needing that on it, now that I have a laptop.
    In the past, paring say, XP with 10, or 11 was a pain, and generally not possible. I think from Win 7 on is possible.

    Would love to see a follow-up on how to access that share from a phone on the private wifi.
    Also, is it possible to setup the share with username/password, but a separate account?
    So I can be using my admin account to use the machine, but the share is using a different account, or can't you use two accounts at the same time?
    Probably can't, since I'd be logged in to the admin account.

    Great video sir, but if your running a network server, giving clients full access to your shared media is something that I would not recommend, (read only). Providing a user with their own storage environment is where they should get full access only.

      If you have a NAS setup that implements DLNA or PlexServer for media, no problems are created as each device accessing those "services" is mapped to the IP address and specific port number of that service protocol. Authentication is also required for PlexServer. No Authentication I believe for DLNA as it is supposed to be a P-N-P (Plug-N-Play) service.

    I've found Windows can at times have difficulty with network discovery especially in File Explorer if you choose not to map drives/folders. Here are the services that require enabling in case they aren'tin the pro versions, DNS Client, Function Discovery Provider Host, Function Discovery Resource Publication, Peer Networking Grouping, SSDP Discovery, UPnP Device Host, & Workstation Service. It's not always a smooth ride.

    I was hoping to get your insight on some issue that i've been encountering over the last couple of weeks. So basically, my computer would freeze very randomly out of nowhere, but what i noticed is that it dosen't tottally freeze, meaning that whenever it freezes the audio will continue to play and even the display image won't freeze. Say if I'm playing a game or watching a video the image will not freeze, i would only lose total control of both my mouse and keyboard at the same time. What i've noticed is that whenever this happens my rgb on my gaming mouse would turn on and off on its own. I'm not sure what's causing the issue specifically, it could be a ram or a hard drive issue, i'm not sure, but i only wanted to see if there's something to be done rather than reinstalling windows from scratch.

    Let's talk about your sponsor. It's not as simple as clicking "Change product key", and entering the key and it magically works for those who want to upgrade their Windows from Home to Pro. More often than not, it will fail. You first have to enter the generic Pro key, restart, and then use your key for the upgrade and for it to work. Also, if you get Office, you're going to have a hard time using the key as they send you a key locked to a Micro$oft account they already created.

    I've never had any troubles networking Windows systems before Windows 10. About the last year or so, after a Windows Update, my network settings get completely wiped out or changed, so I have to set up my network again. I have two desktop computers, one runs Windows 10 as my daily driver system, and the other desktop runs Windows 11 as my developer machine. Both systems have a 10 gig network card. I've narrowed done the network changes to my systems to the Security Updates after a Windows Update. What would be useful to me, and maybe other Windows users, is to have the ability to save your local network setting into an installable configuration file that can be installed if something alters your network setting and causes network connection problems.

    • @Woupsme
      @Woupsme 2 месяца назад +1

      You can transfer all types of files with the method.
      Most programs won't work with just transferring the program folder it's installed in unless it's a portable version. You will probably need to install the program on the new PC.
      Games can however be moved and just verify the files in their respective launcher.

    • @MultiTastic
      @MultiTastic 2 месяца назад

      @@Woupsme is there a video that shows the steps needed to transfer over a program file from an old computer to my new one? For example I have an old computer that is running on Windows 7 and I want to transfer some program files that I no longer have the install disk to and I would like to have that on my new computer. And I know this video shows you how to share files and connect to stuff like that but I just want to transfer over the program itself and have it installed on the new laptop.

    • @Woupsme
      @Woupsme 2 месяца назад +1

      @@MultiTastic You can try to just transfer the entire program folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\your program) but it'll most likely not work to just run it on the new PC.
      You'd have to have the installer transfered somehow or maybe download it from somewhere - maybe the manufacturer's website or some archive website if it's old software.
