- I got out for a quick trip to an Erie tributary for some September steelhead. It's early, but the fish are there. Eggs sacks under floats got it done.

this is my first season ever targeting steelheads and they are seriously so fun to fish for and fight. My second steelhead ever, i caught yesterday was 26" and I would guess weighed around 6lbs fought like a beast and I caught it on my ultralight setup.

I just moved to Maryland from the Seattle area. I’m a Spey guy and want to get up north to do some steelhead fishing. Do you think Spey technics would work in these creeks? I can tie up nymph rigs that will mimic your set up fairly well. But I will never be able to have the longs drifts you do. I really like swinging flies…do you see anyone swinging out your way?
Great Lake steelhead are notorious for chasing a well swung fly. Your Spey gear with streamers will be perfect for that presentation. Tight lines!
