I for one don't need to show "status" by driving an SUV, I'm far more humble and self assured, don't need to prop my self up in a pretentious high rider. As for Haval, no thank you, they've got a long way to go to get to the reputation Honda has built up over the decades.

    I've enjoyed a 2017 6-speed Honda Fit EX for 5 years now. I try to keep up with this model so I can replace mine if necessary, which would probably be from a totaling collision with a deer. Currently over 80K miles (134K km) and not a single issue, though recently I've had to spray electrical contact cleaner in start/stop button. Brilliant in every way, and continuing 41 mpg (66kpg) on much wider than OEM tires. The A and C pillars look very thick again, but the upgraded infotainment system has to be better. I miss the old school gauges, but they are becoming a thing of the past. Unfortunately right when the Fit name is worldwide, the US is not importing the new model.

    In the US it has always been called the 'Fit'. In Europe it is still the Jazz and it is now only available as a hybrid. I own one (2008 model) in SA and a one year old Hybrid in the UK. That is a fantastic car and I get between 4.0 and 4.4 l/100KM. Town or highway makes little difference as the petrol engine (1.5l) always runs at maximum efficiency, in fact driving in town and on country lanes I get the best fuel economy as then the use of the electric motor is optimised. In your review you don't mention if the cruise control is adaptive, if it has lane keeping assist and lane departure warning and a host of other things that my UK model has. Truly a great car. And I agree with the remark about the magic seats, where the seat can be pivoted up providing a huge (and tall!) boot space. Still love my 2008 model in SA too!

    • @MHBGT
      @MHBGT Год назад

      In SA, you only get the Honda Safety sense features on the Hybrid model. Theyve positioned the hybrid as the top tier. The highest spec petrol model, the heated leather-seat Executive 1.5 CVT, does not have adaptive cruise, lane keeping, or other "Safety Sense" exclusives. I found it strange that the top-tier petrol model does not even have blind spot monitoring, nor an auto dimming rear view mirror or folding mirrors on locking.

      @@debeerpaul In fact Kia's seem to last for ever. I had various models over many many many years and they JUST WON'T BREAK - sold them at high return value too 😉💪
      But yes, that Honda top spec hybrid, which just about equal the second from top spec Sonet, is literally R189,000 more expensive than the Sonet, and that is NUTS by any and every possible standard 😨😨😨!

    I love how they discontinued the Honda Fit here in the United States and just renamed the Honda Jazz the Honda Fit elsewhere. I was hoping for the hybrid version myself and then when I heard that it was cancelled in the US I decided to give up on Honda and just get a Nissan Leaf instead.

    Here across the Limpopo, it's always been the Fit, but that's because 99.9% of them are imported second hand directly from Japan! 😄
    Jazz is probably the name used in foreign (to Japan) markets, kinda like how Bora and Jetta used to be.

    FIT because in the US it’s what it’s called? I joke that my FIT fits it all :). Also the Magic seats are more than a one trick pony in that the seats fold upright as well as downright so you can have your dog(s) not mess up the seats or if you buy tall plants or transport something tall. I went to the hardware store and bought long wooden planks stretched from the front dash to the back no problem. With seats folded I can fit two full size bicycles(with front wheels removed) in the back with hatch door closed. I also get 400+miles highway(on eco) in one tank (10.5 gallons). In none eco mode it’s classic Honda peppy and fun to drive. Best all around small car on the market that is super low cost of ownership and will last a long time. If you need a ball gown vehicle then drive a luxury SUV but if you want something more low key but fabulous at what it does then snap one up. It also does not feel cramped inside it feels like a normal sedan(feels like a 90s Honda Accord size inside). Too bad Honda doesn’t send the FIT to the US anymore at least for now but as a result the value of my fit seems to be like a home and just appreciates which is a first for me. In the engine I did add an oil catch can to the PVC intake to keep the intake valves as clean as possible(due to designs of direct injection all manufacturers have suffered). My mechanic however says he hasn’t seen problems in Honda fits non-turbos of the 2015 year anyway but I like to be extra. I’ve also had the oil tested and it’s healthy above average for all remarks including the dreaded oil dilution problem on some direct injection engines with turbos. The 2015+ 1.5 liter non turbos are doing fine according to reports I’ve ran myself so engine will last 300k+ miles.

    It is sad that we in Southeast Asia don’t get the Jazz/Fit anymore. Honda replaced it with so called City Hatchback (a hatchback version of Honda City), and I think it’s not a compact anymore since it’s around 4.5 meters in length.

    Honda has dropped the Jazz-Fit in the US. No Fit for 2021. In other markets the Fit-Jazz is available as a gasoline-electric hybrid only. Same body as the one we see here, but with a battery and electric-motor-generator things. I am happy to see the gasoline motor mated to a CVT is being offered in South Africa, because I like to keep my car for more than 10 years, and I don't like to be forced to replace a battery, after 12-13 years. I'm hoping that maybe we'll see this model in the US. By the way the Jazz-Fit has always been called the "Fit" in the US. Jazz in some countries, Fit in the US.
    For the United Staters reading this, 7 liters per 100 kilometers translates to 33 miles per gallon.

    My guess? This car was/is known as the FIT in at least 1 or 2 markets and Honda decided to " rationalize " the name to all markets.
    Or...Honda has styled this generation to look like a mini-crossover and as such they wanted a name that implied it was more in the vein of other mini-sized sportish utility vehicles.

    Honda needs to bring this back to the U.S. They've misjudged the potential of the subcompact market, especially with rising fuel costs. The Crosstar trim would win a portion of the cross-over market. I just need a little more ground clearance, plus AWD and e:HEV. It would be amazing.
