I currently use cue cards as flash cards for active recall and it’s honestly so time consuming to create them. Pearson and the white board notes were sooo helpful! Thank you so much for sharing!
Switching to Pearson Prep and using mobile flashcards will definitely save you time! But also remember that the process of making the flashcards counts as studying too. It acts as a review before you go into active recall 👍
Great tips! Studying from home is something I've already struggled with as I would often get sidetracked and forget about tasks. I'm so used to studying at the library I was not prepared for all the working from home that came with the pandemic. Your tips really help me stay productive!
I completely relate! I ONLY study at the library. But with everything closed, I really have to tell myself that when I'm sitting at my desk, I NEED TO BE DOING WORK AND ONLY WORK. It's hard but I know you'll manage!!
The two videos of yours I have watched so far (this one and the part 1 notes) have helped me so much.. I was completely clueless because school never taught us how just expected that we already knew how to take notes and study so thanks SO MUCH for helping me!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH , I needed to hear this. I am taking a general bio class because I am a pre-nursing student. I took my first exam and got 48/98 and I wasn’t putting myself down because I knew I needed to improve on some things and really understand what I need to focus on . I learned that I need to spend more time on the vocabulary and concepts and really really going over the information and “teach” it so that I can grasp it. I will burn myself out doing practice questions and taking notes without even understanding the concepts nor vocabulary and get really lost. Thank you for sharing!! I will definitely use this information as a new strategy
@@NathanWu I scored 70% on my recent exam using this method which is such an approvement from my first test . I am going to keep going. Thank you for your tips
I am so behind in my corses so I haven’t had much study time. I’ve been craming last minute. So writing - study schedule in a calendar or agenda would be great for me.
It also makes you less stressed! It may seem overwhelming when you think about all the tests you have upcoming and how many chapters you need to study, but when you plan it all out and do a bit everyday, you realize that it's actually manageable
NATHAN, that tips helped a lot ❤ I executed the biology🐳 and chemistry 🍺part well.. But the only thing I struggle with is applying those concepts and without applying them I just forget them after a day or two, it kinda sucks 😶😥
I just found you on TikTok and honestly this is perfect timing (I just started my first year of university as a neuroscience student)! This will help for sure thank you:)
Aaaaa thank you Nathan!! this is reassuring and helpful for my new program that I'm going into. I hope this will motivate me to study too - keep up the great work!
Thank you! You're going to love university; it's a lot fun but also a lot of work. And that's what I want to show on my channel - the realities of student life 😃
Chem is ALL ABOUT PRACTICE! My study sessions for orgo were always very long... Exams can only ask a question in so many ways, so as long as you keep at it, you'll become increasingly comfortable with the content!
Thank you so much for this amazing video! I needed a good video to watch on my study break, and I'm so glad I watched this ahaha. I agree with you, teaching content to myself has been so helpful for content-heavy courses like history and the social sciences.
I love that you watched it on your study break aha! There's A LOT to remember for history and social sciences, so having a technique on how to effectively cover all the content is essential. Keep up the productivity :)
I feel like I discovered a gold mine after finding your channel! So many useful tips that I will definitely incorporate into my study routine :D Thank you so much!!
A lot of students think that making a study schedule is a waste of time. Yes, it will take maybe 30 min or so, but the amount of time you save in the long run can be more than a day!
The app is free, so give it a try! You can create your own flashcards for no charge, however, the pre-made flashcards do cost money, but hopefully if you win the giveaway, you'll get a bundle for FREE
When do you actually practice this (white board active recall technique for content-based courses) during your study? Is this after you've read the chapter from the textbook? After the lecture from this PowerPoint?
I’m obsessed with your videos! They are helping me a lot through my studying process. Quick question where did you get that biiig whiteboard from? 😂 I saw that you got the small one from ikea but where do you buy the big ones😅
is it good to use the whiteboard notes to study for a midterm? I have my midterm in a few days its a Biology midterm and honestly this is the best studying way i’ve ever seen i just hope that its a good way to study for the midterm.
A thing that I hate is in my school the teachers doesn’t tell us what we have to study, even though a lott of times they say everything there are times where we don’t have to and then I already studies it and it’s something we’re not going to do ever again so annoying
Hey! Found your RUclips video from my For You Page on TikTok! Just started my first year of university at Carleton and these tips really helped me out :)
Congrats! And to be honest, first year was tough - new teaching format, harder classes, longer exams, etc, etc. It took some time but I eventually figured out what works and what doesn't. I love being able to share my experiences and help incoming uni students :)
Thank u so sooooo muchhhhhh these videos help a lot I was so tensed about my collage how I'm gonna learn but your videos are helping me a lot thanku so much bro
How do you transcribe the whole chapter on the white board to something more portable? Do you erase it or write it on notes after? Thanks for the tips!
Hi, I got to have question? So the question is if you have 10 days only for the exam how are you going manage the remaining days for the exam under studying ? ( Ways or tips of memorising the notes)
I took statistics and there was some coding required - we used R. For that, I had to simply practice, practice, practice. It was the only way I could remember the formulas. That was the extent of my comp sci experience, however, I hope it still helped aha
Nathan I do not know if you will see this comment but this is the first video I watched of yours I literally have watched this so many times can you make a new video like this for extra tips you have learned from the day you posted this to today
hello! I am new here and thank you for your content! I wanna get advice from you on what if my exam's next month and some topics are not discussed yet. I'm stuck between reviewing previous lessons or i'll read undiscussed topics in advance, most of my subjects are problem based :(( what's your opinion on this?
I get discouraged really easily. I failed my first two bio lecture exams. I'm discouraged yet determined to do better, and I'm hoping to not make the same mistake, as well as change my strategy. EDIT: SO BIG CATASTROPHIC SURPRISED I DIDNT FAIL MY EXAM I INCORRECTLY FILLED IN THE SCAN TRAN WHO COULD BE THE BIGGEST IDIOT NO OTHER THAN ME BUT STILL I APPRECIATE YOU MAKING THE VIDEOS AND ASPIRE TO WORK HARD AND SMART AS YOU (sorry for the caps. Q&A! all about Harvard and what you are taking😊😊

Ironic how school doesn't teach us how to learn
I love how organized your videos are. It saves time. Keep up the good work! :)
just like how my notes have to be organized... so do my vids!!
