I am Lebanese, and I moved to the UK in 2021 after being made redundant from my job in the UAE as a result of COVID. I was able to come to the UK and dodge going back to Lebanon thanks to my British wife, and manage to forge for myself a career in finance. Thank you for bringing my peoples problems to light! So other people can learn from our mistakes and never trust blindly absolutely no one! And in case you need more info, Iet me know I am more than happy to collaborate 😊
Amazing how this shows up the idea that people "need" the government. People in Lebanon would probably be better off at this point if the government was almost entirely dissolved.
They are almost all corrupt. Nearly every government is enforcing a system whereby everyday people are forced to be slaves for the people who are able to continually steal from them. El Salvador and Argentina are the ONLY governments making any changes to the monetary slavery. @@V4BTC
At minute 43 I'm literally crying my eyes out! Peter, please come to Baylor University in Waco Texas. My husband is teaching environmental sustainability inside of the humanities and this group of academics needs to learn about Bitcoin! PLEASE!! My husband is Dr Joshua King at Baylor University.
My wife is Lebanese, we had to go back last month after her sister passing. I'm heartbroken, the situation is much worse. Inflation is out of control, and people cannot afford to live. Lebanese are the kindest, and most giving people , thank you for sharing and keeping a light on this situation.
Great job Peter! This was an amazing documentary. You really captured the emotions of people living in failed states. We need to continue to create the "rays of light"
I've been in btc for 6 years. I'm isolated as a BTC maximalist/miner in the conservative midwest with family in the middle east. Both Arabic and Jewish. I have an odd perspective. Keep doing these, Peter.
Pete please do more of these documentaries!! Quality content you’re doing more for these people than any government. Just by making this video you helped that community .
I remember seeing news of that explosion, before my bitcoin journey had begun. This feels like it puts things in a completely different context than I had back then, and I appreciate that in a way I can't quite express. It gives me a bit of hope to see people rebuilding, without their government's help or permission. When a state fails you, it's on you to do it yourself, whatever "it" is. As long as these folks are willing to do that, they have hope for the future.
In this one Pete follows the ‘no money’ and in so doing uncovers more truth than he ever could have speaking to any politician or business man. This is journalism
Great documentary! It effectively highlights the crucial role of Bitcoin in Lebanon, especially for those of us who've relied on it for local and international payments. In a time when we as Lebanese were cut off from the global banking system, cryptocurrencies aren't just convenient - they're necessary. Thank you for bringing attention to this.
Peter you are doing amazing things to spread the bitcoin message and help assist other great people with there personal projects using bitcoin as a bridge to show them that there is hope! ❤
Every little helps. Great story, Peter. I have watched your channel over the years, and I really like the shift in direction, refocusing on big issues. Thank you.
Peter, this is beautiful filmmaking. I can’t believe you don’t have 1 million subscribers. You are the best in the business! Shows how early we Bitcoiners are…
Awesome episode.. incredible story of challenge and rebirth.. It also shows the path.. energy generation on every building and communities working together in parallel with the failing state. Distributed and decentralized money and energy systems for the win
This is heartbreaking but vital to show to the world. That ending was very hopeful to me, and it shows that Bitcoin is just a tool, in the end it's people that make the world a better or worse place.
"organized chaos is better than organized systems". I live in Norway, and I couldnt agree more....here everything is getting organized in every way, things move slow and goverments is getting bigger and worse...so maybe we need to loosen up a little bit
Great documentary Peter, very well made indeed! Maybe you could give some lower third info introducing guests, like who they they and who they're working for? Did send a few sats to Rebirth Beirut after watching as well.
At the 34 minute mark, the 'rule of law' is discussed. They don't need rule of law (which ALWAYS ends up favoring the big rich companies and the politicians). They need real money that can not be stolen. The ONLY thing that will fix this world wide is real, energy based money that is an exchange of real work with someone else (that can't be printed). Bitcoin is not ready for that world wide but in places like Lebanon it needs to be promoted. It's just hard for people that can't feed themselves to think about the future. But it only takes a small percentage of people dedicated to a real solution to make a difference for millions.

When your wife will wear a hijab, say to her to wear
Shit lebanon

NO ONE needs government, esp. not a corrupt one.

The power of money without middlemen is a HUGE difference, well one guys!
When people ask "but without government, who would provide city lightning?" Well...
The Wallet of Satoshi moment at dinner was very powerful!

Was so cool to see the street lit up at the end. Gives me hope that there are still good people in the world. The Lebanese are so inspiring!
I live in the US. But I think, “There, but for the grace of God, go I.” I was in tears. Thank you for doing what you are doing. 🙏
Such a good video! Lebanese people still manage to have a smile on their face. They´re one of a kind.

Awesome job Peter! Where’s the lightning link so we can send some sats to the street lighting project?
With Bitcoin as a global currency i was wondering; 'who is gonna build the roads?'. Now I know. We, the people do. Thanks Peter.

Thank you Peter and the whole team.
great video, great work, just a note: the cards for other videos at the end block out reading the text at the end.
The message is very clear. Governments do far more harm than good.
It all starts with good intentions and then it leads to this… always
Love this! Greetings from Südtirol!
When the government is corrupt, people power!!
