You did a fantastic job this year. There's no shame in going back to alter your clothes as you discover ways they could be improved. The garden dress is too pretty to give up on! Since you already removed the zipper, why not add loops and make it lace up in the back? That should allow more room!

  • @blueorchid5236
    @blueorchid5236 6 месяцев назад +52

If you ever want to be able to wear tour garden gown again now that it doesn’t have a zipper, just put laces in the back! Then it’s more adjustable and you don’t have to sew the zip again! Always love watching these types of videos, Happy New Year!

YES, I absolutely loved the videos where you went back to previous projects to fix them, because I learned a lot from you and it keeps things real! I've only been sewing for about 3 years, so watching your sewing journey unfold with all its victories and hardships is reassuring and motivating 😄

I think the retro green blouse with the white color would look really nice styled with some high waisted wide leg trousers in a coordinating color like white, light pink, or a neutral beige.

That blouse would look great with a white skirt or white pants. Matching the collar and cuffs looks intentional. Shoes that bring out an accent color or add black accents, black or white accessories. That blouse has some really nice lines. Very vintage looking so make the pants or skirt vintage looking.

Great job this year. It’s interesting to have this review of the clothes and hear which one got worn and which ones didn’t. Sometimes I wonder if I am the only sewist who hates some of the things I have sewn and never wears them so it makes me feel better when I hear you say you’re not 100% convinced by some of the things you made. I love the parts when you say what you liked or disliked and I think it’s important to have « learning years » (I just went through one which also explains why I hate some things now that I know what I could have done better). Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

You did so much great work this year! For the green blouse maybe you could pair it with the black skirt you wore in this video or plain black trousers? Definitely something plain because the blouse has such a busy pattern! 😅

That sweater! Oh my goodness, what beautiful work and the stripe matching!! 😍😍
I have had many projects this past year that were “failures”. Some were fixable and some were just opportunities to learn. Thanks for sharing what worked and didn’t. It’s actually very helpful!
Baby clothes are SO fun to sew! My kids were school age when I started sewing, but I make baby clothes for friends and family as new babies come along. Picking out the fabric is so fun and I love to splurge on fun prints bc you only need a tiny bit! 😊

I hope you had a very happy Christmas and that your new year is- well it’s gonna be the best year ever!
I was just reminded that mistakes help us learn and grow. I whether it’s learning a skill or it’s learning things you don’t like to do or that you love to do or that you want to do more of , you learned. You leveled up on everything. That’s pretty cool. I think if you did it end of the year wrap up that included your home projects too, that would’ve been fun but I’m pretty sure that was a big enough job already. I wish you and your family all good things for the coming year. Tell Robert hi for us all and congratulations.😊

I think the long purple dress is a great candidate to be turned into a skirt and it would look super cute with a little knit top.

Fijne jaarwisseling, lieve Lucy!

If you are planning on breastfeeding, you should try nursing bras. All bras are pretty easy and you are not wasting a lot of fabric, so you can take a couple of try’s at it. They are so expensive to buy.

I absolutely loved this! I taught myself to sew after I had my son since I was going to be home for a year on Mat leave, and when I was learning I always loved watching your videos. I can't wait to see you make baby clothes! I just moved as we where is the progress of buying our first home when I lost my baby. 3 weeks "postpartum" and none of my clothes are fitting me (I was in my 2nd trimester when I had my miscarriage) so once I get my sewing machine set up I need to make myself some clothes that fit. And I'm planning to try again so I know I'll be making baby clothes in the future.

Hi Lucy! I would enjoy taking a look at that sweater video, but I don't see it posted!
I think you did a fine job on those garments and enjoyed watching the videos, even if some of them didn't quite meet expectations. I wonder if you would want to sew some slacks to match that 30's/40's blouse in the dark color (dark green?) That would make a cute outfit!

    Hello
My you have been busy this year!
As a knitter and crocheter I really liked your sweater. I knit a vest this past year (and other things).
The vintage blouse (I can sew but haven't for some time) I like a lot. It would look great with nice black or white slacks, or a black skirt.
Have enjoyed watching you work and I think we crafty types can all relate to the struggles. But that's how we learn and improve. I get impatient and don't research and think things through enough sometimes because I just want to dive in and start working. Sometimes it pays, sometimes not. It's a gamble but we're also doing what we love.
Have a Happy New Year! Take care ☺

Hi - just wanted to suggest a solution for the lilac "dream-dress" (where you took the zipper out):) A corset-style back might solve the problem of it being a tiny bit small (and also might be a great idea for postpartum):) Lots of love from vienna🤗

I don't use this account I used as a teenager. I used to love you so much as a kid because I thought you had similar interests to mine and had a personality that seemed so inspiring and relatable. I love seeing that you seem to be very happy and hitting milestones and like a lot of the youtubers I watched as a kid I still feel like I share your same values as me. You are so cool still, you where when I was a teenager and you are now I'm almost 30. Idk if this is too soppy but eh. I love your dresses and I love you! Happy new year's.

I don’t want to scare you but some of those clothes might never fit your body again after giving birth 😅🙂 that’s just what happens to most women, it happened to me too, your body will change in pregnancy and look different after birth then it used to look before having children. That’s not bad but some of the measurements you had pre-pregnancy might never come back. So be ready to say goodbye to some of your clothes, especially if they are very very fitted. But you did a great job in sewing each one of them and they are beautiful! 💖

i had everyone and their mother tell me this 😂. But I've had 2 kids and wear almost everything that I owned prior to my first pregnancy. I hope no one gets rid of things they love until they're sure they will never be able to wear it again.
