Soon May the Wellerman Come is an old shanty. Its title refers to the so-called ‘wellermen’, the supply ships owned by the English Weller brothers, who emigrated to New Zealand at the beginning of the 19th century. The whalers appearing in this song are hoping that such a ship with provisions like tea, sugar and rum, will soon arrive. In 2020 and 2021, the versions by the British folk group The Longest Johns and the Scottish singer Nathan Evans were huge hits on TikTok, leading to a shanty rage on social media. Arranger Seb Skelly didn’t fail to notice this. He created his own version in a catchy arrangement for brass quintet. - Видеоклипы
Amazing arrangement. Not just the choral version for brass, but a true-sounding brass quintet tune.
Beautiful arrangement! Brilliant performance! How can so much talent be packed into five people?
One person??
What an interesting place to find Seb Skelly!
Love this so much, especially because it covers the Longest Johns version
I mean, let's be fair, we've all made those faces waiting for our period rests to end.
Amazing music 🎶🎵
Congratulations for you 👏
better than the Original! 🎼🎺🎶🐳
How can people dislike this
Okay! I love you.. The arrangement is brilliant.. bravo
Brilliant! The best version i'ver seen
Just awesome!!!
I think the guy in the hat was best
outstanding
I say it seldom, but that is good job!
Nice job!
belle sonorité et bel arrangement. +++++
😍😍😍
How do you get your trumpet to sound that good?
wooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
The sound has a full range from a high trumpet all the way down to a tuba, yet there's no tuba/euphonium/horn to be found in the video (except maybe the flugelhorn which has the same range as a standard Bb trumpet), even the trombone is a soprano.
Hi Minor Second,
Take a look at this video and learn how Seb creates his brass quintet sound.

its an alto trombone
nvm
i wrong
👍🏻
These guys have stole a entire brass band and learned to sing to all instruments
I just wanna know what that tuba is called
It's a Flugelhorn. It's pitched down two octaves to simulate a Tuba.
how the hell is a flugel playing that low
He pitches the Flugelhorn down two octaves to simulate a Tuba and the Soprano Trombone down one octave to simulate a Tenor Trombone
I was just bout to say wtf
You should check out the version Isaac Smith did! Ita along the same vein for sure
I actually watched that version before this one
What kind of tuba is that?
Smol
It's a Flugelhorn pitched down two octaves to simulate a Tuba.
it's a French² tuba
How are you doing that
But why the soprano trombone
He looks like Timo trombone
I still dont get why he saying a trumpet is a tuba and a trumpet is a french horn
It’s because those are the parts they’re playing, he uses software to shift the pitch down to get the bass parts without actually needing a tuba
That's definitely not a tenor trombone.
Looks like an alto
Or saprano
It’s a soprano trombone
Thats a weird lookin tuba
