Ezir-Kara = The Black Eagle. The song is about the legendary horse which always won races at Naadym - an annual traditional nomadic festival, where the participants take part in horse racing, wrestling and archery. It received it's nickname "The Black Eagle" after winning four times in a row. There were more races thus more nicknames, it's just a tradition to give nicknames for the championing horses. But the "Ezir-Kara" just stuck to it, historically. The other nicknames were: Huluk-Kara = The Restless Black One Uzhar-Kheme = The Flying Boat - an interesting lexeme which actually means "plane" basically. In 1939, the horse's owner was shot by the tankies for "counter-revolutionary activity", while Ezir-Kara was sent to taiga but according to others it was shot as well.
