- Bangkok v Pattaya is a conversation often had over a few jars. So how is Bangkok doing right now and how does it compare to Pattaya?
It is clear to see that right now Bangkok is on it's way back but it in my opinion is not close to Pattaya as yet. I am sure in time it will regain the vibe like it is so famous for!
Take a look and share your thoughts on Bangkok and how it in your opinion compares to Pattaya?

Have you seen the prices of flights from Europe ? Probably the most expensive they’ve ever been , £3000 for an economy flight ? Maybe why the bars are so quiet
£3000 i dont think so, maybe business class
EVA Air from the UK to Bangkok in October cost me £641. Prices are up %50.
Some people talk so much crap about flight prices I paid £600 for end of September and that’s direct flights, where do these people get £3000 from for economy??
@@krispybacon5038 Eva air has never been £320 direct flight before not since I have been using them anyway and that’s many years
I’m talking about this month
Just recently started watching your videos and I really enjoy your style and non judgmental viewpoints, I'm saving up to go Thailand for the 1st time hopefully around January next year and the fact that it isn't busy with too many tourists sounds great to me. keep up the good works.
Awesome, thank you!
Another good one Trevor, I have really enjoyed this series. I liked your sailing analogy in this video. 😀 I can’t wait to see the last one, “Lost in Bangkok”😀
Awesome, thank you! Only I can get lost lol
Thanks Trev for another great video. I will be in BKK in early Dec for my 3rd time. My last 2x was during Sonkran. I hope things will improve by then. I will have a great time no matter what….CHEEES!
Am sure it will improve but for now it's just not for me
So much for one night making a hard man humble. Seriously, enjoyed watching.
Thanks mate
Hi Trev - was in BKK last weekend, missed you because you were back in Patts. I loved BKK right now. The energy is back! Soi 11 is going off and there were some great "treats" at Juicy! If this is low season, then High Season will be INSANE!
Soi 11 after 11 pm was packed and very crowded!
Sounds great!
@@Buzzinpattaya Then again, I was enjoying the Juicy treats and could have been "in a haze"....555
Great stuff mate,,,
The bar crawl was awesome last night,,
AC/DC Blasting…
hahaha cheers mate, no other way ;)
Hi Trev, that scenario you told about the girls pestering you when you wanted to sit alone with a beer happens a lot in certain bars. To me, it's a sure way to drive away customers forever. They did it to me in one bar and when I said I needed 30 minutes alone to enjoy my first beer they said "Misterrr..cannot sit alone!"
Obviously my next words were "CHECK BIN KRUP".
Exactly the same as you mate it really does put me off
Nice vid Trev, I always do the last 2 nights of my Thailand trip in Bangkok as it is only 30mins in a taxi for the main airport (BKK) to fly back home to the UK instead of the 1.30-2hr trip from Pattaya or from an Island with an earlier flight. I have had some great off the cuff nights in the past in Bangkok, but agree with what you say about the times now as I was there early June. Just as an added note, Soi 8 is a nice place for relaxed drinks and food with new bars and a couple of places to eat, so next time try there.
Nice one mate thank you for sharing your experience
I was in Bangkok during the month of Dec of 2022. At the time I have visited both Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy, during my holiday I found Nana Plaza was more open and Soi Cowboy where I found the street completely in the dark. Your current video did show Soi Cowboy now is the place to go for now as things try to return to normal.
Thanks for sharing!
Time traveller!
Keep up the good work and of course great information. Thank you.👍👍👍
Thank you very much
Nice one Herr Trevor 👍. I like Angelwitch too! I love the music they play it's very atmospheric or at least it was. I've booked the Adelphi on Soi 8 in BKK for March I'm hoping I can make it & don't have to cancel again. I'll be coming to Pattaya after that for a few days too. 🇹🇭🍻
Angelwitch was fun
Great informative information trev, been to thailand 30 times but never visited soi cowboy. always hanged out around nana but I will check outKoxy bar for sure
with my beautiful lady from buriram because I too love my music - many thanks trev 🙏 booked the Novotel in soi 4
Hope you have a great time mate
Hello Trevor. I agree with some earlier comments regarding your visit to Nana Plaza. I visited Butterflies on the third floor last Monday and Tuesday (15 and 16 August) when they had a buy one get one free on bottled beer, so 2 bottles of Chang was 140Bt. Also, the place was fairly busy after about 9.30 with around 20 customers apparently having a good time. There was no pressure from the many attractive young ladies to buy them a drink, although one of the mamasans did ask me if I wanted to speak to one of the girls, she could arrange this. The girls who had been bought drinks seemed to be very friendly to their customers. It seems that you have been unlucky with your choice of bars on your recent visit. Hope you have better luck next time.
Fair one mate and thanks for sharing, maybe I caught it on an off day
Been living in Bangkok for the last 5 months and the nights are a bit hit and miss. Friday and Saturday are busy after around 10pm and i think that is locals and expats.
I also really enjoy Soi 11 mostly because its relaxing
Thanks for sharing your experience
Thanks for sharing on your opinion sir, mine is different after visiting both city’s this early august 2022
Welcoming me mate and glad you had a good time
Nice one. I love Bangkok it has soo much to offer. Sad its a bit lagging in the nightlife for now. But apart from the party scene there is so many tourist options to see and do. Def worth a visit and for longer than a NANO second 😂😂
Haha cheers mate
Been coming to Thailand for 20 years you're 100% Buzz I'm here now leaving in two more days and it is very slow compared to years ago hopefully things will turn up
Have a great trip mate, wish you all the best
I forgot to thank you for vidéos and explainations, Hope to see you end january and offer u a beer 🍻
Welcome mate 🙂
Nice to see some Bangkok scenes, I’ll probably stay 5 nights on my way back from traveling around. I stayed in Soi 11 a couple of times, it’s quite central for Nana or Soi Cowboy plus the train station is close by. I want to visit Khaosan Rd, Chinatown and Chatuchak market, and a few bars with live music. That’ll do me.
Nice one mate have a great time
Just arrived in Jomtien; having a great time with friends. Seeing rain for the first time in months! Bangkok looks too much hassle. Will go to Koh Larn instead. And must do the bar crawl
Nice one mate, come along Friday, perfect crawl for you as we are over your way
I loved this video as well. I always stayed at Dynasty Inn down the block from Nana Plaza and was somewhat disappointed to hear that the nightlife was subdued in that area. Matter of fact, I see where the Dynasty is closed due to Covid, although indications are that they will reopen at some point. I used to enjoy just walking around and seeing the night sights in the area, maybe a beer here and there or even a knickknack or two. On to #3.
Nice one thank you for sharing your experience with us
Hey Trev. Spent 3 nights in Soi 4 area on my recent trip and had a very similar experience. Not the vibe I was looking for and prices were much steeper than Pattaya. Nana was just as you described so I couldn’t get back to Pattaya soon enough.
Totally get you mate same for me
How timely, you must've been reading my mind. I was just starting to plan my third trip of the year. Was thinking of going to BKK since I've never been. Looks like I'll be going back to Pattaya.
Just give it some more time mate, hopefully recover to the busy place it used to be
@@Buzzinpattaya I'm sure it will, might schedule a few days there to see if it's improved by the time I get there.
Definitely with you on this Trevor, when I was last there in 2019, Nana was a lot more fun and relaxed than Soi Cowboy. At the time Soi Cowboy was mostly full of folks from Japan, Korea, and China splashing big Baht and the girls were loving the 3-3-3. I gravitated towards Nana because even though it was busy there were places where I could just sit and have a beer and not get hassled while people watching. It will be interesting to see how things are in October.
Nice one mate thank you for sharing
Trev. Great one. Straight and honest.
Cheers mate
Went to Thailand a few months ago for the first time. All in all, in a 21 day vacation I ended up staying 10 days total in Bangkok. This won't happen next time, as I plan to spend more time in Pattaya, instead of the 3 days spent there on my trip. My overall impressions of Bangkok is that although it is jammed with traffic, the air quality seemed relatively clean, as opposed to Manila. And the city was also kept very clean, as opposed to NY. All the hotels I stayed at were very clean there and my experience was quite positive regarding Bangkok. Wasn't afraid of being a victim of crime and it was certainly much safer than many big cities in the US. I'll never bring a suitcase again filled with clothing to Thailand after finding the Pratunam Market near the Baiyoke Sky Hotel. The first time was a learning experience.
Thanks for sharing your experience
Had to back up the video… hahaha “tickle my tea towel holder”!!!! 🤣
Love learning the British slag:)
haha sorry mate, just look at this image and use your imagination hahahahaha www.tbyyf.com/?product_id=269485480_35
Good morning buzzin first time i went to Bangkok with my mum and dad in 2001 2002 2003 and it was a big shock i did not realised how big bangkok was we stop in Bangkok for 5 days and went to pattaya it was lots of bars i had wonderful time
Nice one mate
Interesting, when I was there in late June/July, yes it wasn't too busy but I had the best time ever in BKK and I stayed Soi 11 in Hotel Eleven (great all rounder for the price too and fairly new hotel). After 11pm Soi 11 comes alive, Hillary 3/11, Oskar bar, sugar, Havana, Market rooftop, and them new beer bars across from taco bells. I also went to Sing Sing Theatre about 20 mins away and Bobo and a few other places. Yes nana seemed quieter but not outrageously quiet, it was busy enough to have a decent time but didnt feel as busy as Pattaya walking st, but felt busier than soi 6 pattaya.
Great comment mate and thank you for sharing your experience.
This is a very strange analysis based on what I saw the previous week. I also stayed at the ambassador last Sunday and started drinking on soi 8 which had changed a lot. We then went to Nana plaza and all the bars were open and there were loads of girls. I looked into every gogo on every floor and there were some lovely girls especially on the ground floor. We also went to soi cowboy at midnight and many things were closed and the girls looked as though they’d been in the game for a while. We didn’t even stay for a beer on cowboy. Nana was great. We had a great time.
Maybe I just caught it on an off day mate, it can happen
yes I have been surprised with the prices of drink and food also in Bangkok and Pattaya and comparing them to back home in New Zealand. Finding that you can drink and eat just as cheap back home but the girls so much better and more fun in Thailand by far and that will always make Thailand so special
Gotcha mate and yeah getting pricey now
I have a friend there now. Staying in a hotel on soi 4. From what you indicated on your video he would agree.
Thanks for sharing mate
I was last in BKK back in December 2019 & I used to stay in upper soi 4 over the past few years trips : Angelwitch was still one of my favourite hangouts even though I was in there with a "regular lass" from a nearby bar. Unfortunately, Dave the Rave had long since left running the place. (The current manager is an old drinking friend of mine from 7/1 days - so hopefully things will pick up for him.) As a single-bloke, day drinker I always found most of the soi 4 bars* a pain as all and sundry seemed to request a drink every couple of minutes & if bought a request for one for their friend(s) too. The exception being in expat type bars. One thing I will reiterate to people is that none of the staff/girls in any of these type of places are your friend. You are just the means to a monetary end regardless of the rapport which you may believe you have or the length of time you have known them. Have fun but always be conscious of this.
Come December I'm heading straight down to Pattaya and then maybe an island or two before spending the last couple of days in BKK. This is strange for me as I normally stay in BKK and "day(s) trip" out. I will freely admit Bangkok has lost a bit of its sparkle for me over the years.
* Incidentally, Ridez4kicks was in Big Dogs in Aug 2020 and he was the monthly rent alone was 500,000 Baht. This included upper floors but it was not explained if this also included Stumble Inn which is part of the same bar group.
Great share mate thank you and enjoy the islands
Very interesting video. I go on the Stickman Bangkok web site every Sunday (when he does Stickman's Weekly Column). In the most recent columns he mentions how Nana Plaza is full of customers while Soi Cowboy is less busy. There are of course many variables like what time of day, what day of the week, which bars, etc. In addition, Stickman is getting his information from other people since he hasn't returned to Thailand for at least a couple of years. I'm more inclined to believe Trev's information because he's actually experiencing Bangkok in real life, not through 2nd hand sources. I prefer Nana Plaza to Soi Cowboy, but I hope all the bars do well. I hope the situation improves when I visit Thailand in 2023!
Mate my video is real not old content..... Sadly it is as I showed right now mate
Hey Trev, great video....I don't how you keep up the ultra high energy you have to keep kicking out these awesome videos....kudos...I'm guessing the Thermae bar is long gone... It was the go to bar after 2am packed with freelancers and girls who got off work...it was also a shame they closed the disco in the Nana hotel...I'd have 5 girls a night knocking on my door...I went by "Jack Sparrow" then 555
Loads more to contact me mate as I love doing what I do
I'm sorry to see the hamburger stall is gone outside nana plaza . After a night on the lash I used to love those burgers. My go to place was on sukumvit on the left on the way to soi cowboy. The tamara coffie shop downstairs. Banged out with freelancers. How the song go 10 girls for every boy lol. Pat pong was great back in the day . But the last time I went it had changed a lot. I even got asked to leave by lots of girls as I walked into pat pong two. They said only Chinese and Japanese welcome here. I said up to me and they got angry so I went to soi cowboy , which I've always liked 👍
yeah a lot of changes mate to be honest
All that meant was that they were looser with their money. When I was in Panama, as a soldier, their was a few times I got dumped at the bar for Merchant Marine. Months at sea, months of pay in their pockets. Fair enough... 😆
Angle with in Walking street was my go to place but mainly to watch the shows, i think they started at 10 pm, there was one lady we called the monkey lady and she was wild on the poles, never smiled but we still enjoyed her shows, she went missing for a while as she broke her leg, then after it was sold i did see her in a gogo in LK Metro and she remembered me, i would also go Angle witch in Nana and enjoyed it as well, great memories but i got back to Aus 1st of Sept and didnt make Nana Plaza this time
Great shows mate as you said
Hello Buzzin i have not been to bangkok for a long time i think bangkok will hopefully be back to normal
It will bounce back but for now on a low for me
Haven't been to Nana/Soi Cowboy etc since pre-Covid. But am looking forward to getting back in a few months. I'm sure it'll bounce back and the vibe will get even better. When I lived in BKK I was a little further away from that part of town (off Sukhumvit Road near Phrom Phong BTS / The Emporium) -- but always a blast heading up to that area. Some Nana spots used to be quite the same too with the girls almost at a pestering level -- gotta earn I guess. Some great memories of Soi 11 bars back at that time too! I think Cowboy definitely has more walk-through traffic (or it certainly used to) -- plenty of blokes but also lots of mixed traffic/tourists too, just wanting to have a gawk. I'll split time between Pattaya and BKK (and other places too) -- but definitely like a bit of time in BKK.
Thanks for sharing your experience mate and yeah they were annoying to be honest
Dave used to be the manager of Angel Witch in Nana Plaza. Thats when it was really happening there. Their show was really fantastic. I always had good luck in Soi Cowboy. I got ripped off in Nana but it was because I was very naive. Now, I'm more experienced but definitely more stupid. Thanx Trev!
Cheers for sharing mate
Nice to see and a real update as it is now in bkk
Thanks mate
You could make a Video about everyone's first trip to Thailand, It was a baptism of fire for me also. Unfortunately Sukhumvit/Nana is on the Tourist Map now, and most stay in Soi 11. The Soi has become quite expensive, especially the Indian Restaurants.
Yeah would be funny how people found it on arrival lol
I used to always spend my first 2 days back in Thailand in the Nana area before proceeding to Pattaya. Then stopped and just went directly to Patts. I'll have to check it out again in November. Especially since everything is new, old girls gone, new girls in. Just like starting over again. BUT with the knowledge of the game.
Always be ahead of the game mate lol
Hey, dude, there's also an Angel Witch in Walking Street, Angeles (Luzon, Philippines). It's a go-go and is in the same building as Kokomo's restaurant, which is itself great for people watching as it looks out onto the strip. Angeles also has the mighty Margarita Station, the best bar in all of South-East Asia in my humble opinion.
ah wow, never knew that mate, cheers
Absolutely loved Andelwitch Pattaya, was so gutted when they closed it.
Yeah was a real shame
Brilliant video Trevor!! I’m coming to Pattaya on the 29th December!! Hopefully see you at buzzin bar ! Any plans for New Years eve?
Nice one mate thank you. No plans as yet will want to be with my wife to be honest
I was in angel witch two weekends ago and six weekends ago in and out of pattaya via bangkok and it was chuffing amazing 😁🤯😎👍
Glad you had a great time
Hi. When I was in Bkk back in June soi 11 my favorite street was packed. Every club and bar I visit was jammed. . Correct also nana was dead. And allot of bars in that area where quiet but allot of street action. . I never was a big nana fan. I always enjoyed soi cowboy and that area . I’m a Pattaya’ guy myself also. Thanks keep it up
Thanks for sharing mate
Agreed. I also like the Beer Garden, between the two.
PS. Thank you, George for saying "jammed" instead of the godawful "rammed" which everybody seems to insist upon employing, these days.
The Nana Hotel was my go to, but after my last trip and booking a new room, I was so disappointed. The room was fine, but they used new bed frame and with the same old lumpy mattresses. So I am going to try that new hotel on soi 4 same side of the street a few meter down.
Wow thanks for sharing your experience with us
Tea towel holder? 🤣🤣🤣I had to think about that for a moment. Was thinking WTF, what's he doing with tea towels. Never heard that term before, it's a good one.
lol, now ya know hahahahaha
Coming over on 11th of October. Been to pattaya many times but never Bangkok. I'm going to have a couple of nights there this time . £785 return flights from Manchester.
Have a great trip mate
Thanks for an informative video Trevor. Does Bangkok have Pattaya style gents clubs (like Camel Toe etc)?
Yes but tucked away
My goto bar on Soi 4, Nana, is Hillary 2. They have great bands and a great crowd starting about 9:30. Soi 7 was completely shut down for several months and has only recently reopened. I walk through Soi Cowboy every week on my way to a bar in Soi 23. I’ve watch it struggle through the last two years. Country Road has had a great comeback though I don’t like the band there but it is always packed with people. And you are right, there is quite a nice vibe there these days.
Mine is Big Dogs at the entrance to Nana. Great for people watching and eyeing up the F/L's and the girls going into Nana. Few beers/Malibu there and I'm off!! Back there in 7 weeks, can't wait!!
Thanks mate for sharing
i like bangkok at night but not motivated enough to find out whats happening during the day. average stay is about 3 nights before i go to pattaya.
Thanks for sharing
I think September will see a sea-change. Having seen other videos and being on your Discord, flight prices are down and there are a lot of people who are planning to get away starting some time in September and then carrying on through the Fall. I bet we'll have a better story soon.
Hope so mate, was a shock
@@Buzzinpattaya yeah, it sure seems like a shock. I'll be staying near Soi Cowboy for a few days after my stay in Jomtien. I wonder what I will find? Regardless I hope I'll soak up some party time in Pattaya. I'll start with a beer crawl. Just to learn the ropes, you understand. But I might take that train trip back to Bangkok when I go, rather than a bus. It looks like a great thing to do!
I always stay a few nights in sukhumvit in Bangkok before going to the main destination Pattaya, I love Soi Cowboy and Baccara and AfterSkool are my favorite's. I also love going to the Game On Bar for a game of pool along with the Blow Job bars before heading to Nana Plaza to break up the night. I agree that both have Pro's and Con's according to personal preference. But I think this is a fairly accurate appraisal for the current climate.
Yeah fair one mate, I like BKK just guess this trip wasn't to be
I spent the whole of the COVID time in Bangkok and went to Nana whenever it was open. I tend to frequent Spankys. I often found I was the only customer. When I walked around the plaza, I would often see bars with zero customers or single figures.
wow thanks for sharing
Tw25nw.. Spankys is one of only about 3 good bars in Nana.. The attitude of staff, is much better there, I guess that's why they're busier.
@@murraywards2645 they have a sister bar called Blondie. I left Thailand before it opened though.
Favorite hotel near nana is the key premier sukhumvit on soi 7. Quiet, clean, reasonably priced
Thanks for the tip
What night was that ?. I live just outside Bangkok soi 4 been quite for a long time even before C19. Soi 7 beer complex was the in place to go before and the beer price's are much cheaper also.
late last week mate
I think what you were referring to as Soi 9 is actually Soi 7/1. Soi 9 is nothing more than a black alley behind some buildings. 7/1 is where Subway is, and a bunch of bars further in. Loved seeing those areas - it's been a while...
Cheers
BKK is still one of the best places to go. So much to do, so much to see & it is unending. Forget Kohsan Rd. It may be better if there are many more tourists there, but it is definatley a backpackers place. If you are over 50, NO.
I like the mix of Pagodas, shopping, restaurants & nightlife.
I go there every couple of weeks, a cglorious hange from Patts. YES IT IS MORE EXPENSIVE.
Yeah it's a vast city I was just hoping areas people are more familiar with
Nana Plaza very quiet indeed, but what did you expect ? Early evening, middle of low and rainy season, covid restrictions lifted just a short time ago, fewer and more expensive flights, drinks and barfine prices going through the roof...Typical thai marketing : less customers, so let's increase the prices ! Anyway i will be in Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya in November...the less customers the more girls for me ;-)
Cheers, great videos as usual !
I agree mate and yeah not the best time at all. I just was being told by so many that BKK was busy etc so wanted to come and see for myself...... Am sure in 3 months it will be very different
Thanks for being honest
No probs mate
You certainly seem to be upping your game recently with the zip wire and trip to BKK. Could you put it down to being invigorated after the floatation experience?
haha never say never, more to come
@@Buzzinpattaya Skydiving??
Your story of sitting down in a bar and being constantly accosted by the girls is exactly what happened to me over and over when I took my trip there in April. I'd say I was married just so they'd leave me alone but it fell on deaf ears. I know people will say,, "then why did you go the girly bars in the first place" and it was just to be around the action, people watch,, girly watch and have a beer. It got so bad in one bar, the girls started yelling at me that I was too good for them. It was extremely uncomfortable and I ended up leaving....it was also the last bar I went to there as it just wasn't fun. I still had a great time but I cut out the bar scene.
Well said mate, why can we not have a beer and be left alone if that's what we wanted
Man, 2016-2017 Angelwitch in Nana was a blast. I think the managers name at that time was Alex, boy did he treat me right in there. It was also the first agogo I went into and it was a shock. I was on the stage being the center of many of the girls shows.... I had to fight them from undressing me on stage LOL. I will never forget that.
Yeah same as in Pattaya, very good and great shows
Good memories last forever...
Angelwitch used to be a great bar first went there around 20 years ago, one of my favorites, Matt and Dave were great hosts and some memorable times were had. I always preferred Bangkok to Pattaya, for many reasons, that still stands, but it is not the Bangkok I fell in love with. Pattaya has always been cheaper, however Bangkok has more to offer and still worth the extra cost. Cowboy used to be the best place to go, in he early 2000’s it was so much fun. It did go down hill for me but as you said at the moment is better than Nana, more lively and fun.
Yeah I can imagine back in the day it was awesome
@@Buzzinpattaya One example was there used to be Dance Contests in the early nought’s with Gogos from Cowboy, Nana and Patpong. You could put up one of the three prizes and be a judge. Top prize 10,000 baht a lot of money for the girls then. Competition was fierce, the girls had a a lot of drink and it was always an amazing night. Sadly they are long gone. Judges had the most fun. Anyone else remember them?
It is the low of the low season at the moment. From what I see on vlogs Soi 7 is the go to place, and of course for the youngsters Kho San road
Cheers mate
I think my first time there and first night out I'd probably just wanna sit in the corner and observe the goings on" I don't drink beer at all" I'm bloody Mary man" or a Strawberry daiquiri and some goldslauger shots" no girls" just kinda get a feel for the vibe etc...
As long as you enjoy yourself that's all that matters
@Buzzinpattaya Exactly! You've shared alot of wisdom" that's when being older becomes priceless " and using the head between my shoulders first and not being sucked in and overwhelmed by their beauty abd knowing you can pretty much bang any girl in the place! I doubt I'd be bringing them back to my hotel right away" and never drink to the point ypur no longer in control of yourself or your surroundings.
i was in nana in july for a couple of days trev..........bar fine 600bht st...3000bht , the only 2 nights of my holiday i slept alone.....
ouch!
I was in Bangkok in 2010 around the time of the riots. There were very few tourists and I thought I’d be treated like royalty. In fact it was opposite of that. It seemed like the girls had given up on things. Was very quiet still a bit of fun but I was left alone a lot. Back in a couple of weeks time. 8 nights in Bangkok 8 nights in Pattaya and a final few nights in Bangkok.
Wow thanks again for sharing
I just returned from a months trip and your Spot on with your views on the city. I guess i only had 5 nights wondering around town while my girlfriend was working late but it did seem like the bars off sukhumvit were busier than those around Nana. The busiest place i went in was the sportsmans bar on soi 13 when i went to watch the Hungarian F1 race.
If your away from the Tourist areas prices are still up but nothing like they are around Sukhumvit
The hello girls on cowboy were not very proactive and i never saw any of the classic arm tugging you used to see.
I stay out near Huai Khwang opposite all the big Soapys and it didnt look like they were busy.
I went in one of the ground floor Gogos in Nana and they were so Pushy i could not relax and jacked it in same as you.
Given the price of flights i was surprised to see how many Africans were back and trying to sell coke again.
Thanks for sharing mate, much appreciated
I’ve seen some blogs on the new beer complex on soi 7 (Bangkok) that looked busy and fun with plenty of talent
I think overall what is going on is we are in low season and just coming out of you know what..plus a poor exchange rate and high plane fares, I think the real test for Pattaya and Bangkok will be to judge the numbers and vibe this coming high season (sometimes people forget the vast difference between the 2 in normal times)
If numbers are low this HS it could reflect the slow decline that was happening before the trouble..I personally think this HS will be brilliant and I know plenty who are going 👍🙏🏻🤘🏻
Yeah it is low low season right now to be fair
BKK is better for overall for sightseeing and shopping. BKK has it's "fun" spots but it's very spread out? Where as Pattaya it's so much more convenient to access the girls, especially if you're in the heart of Soi Buakhao.
Yeah good shout that mate
You missed out on Patpong mate! Definitely worth a visit
Yeah sorry mate I ran out of time
Some of the biggest and nicest malls are in Bangkok. But I would be wary if you walk into one. They are absolutely like a maze. I walked off the train at the Siam station and noticed the entrance to a mall. It didn't take long for me to get lost and not being able to find my way to the train station entrance again, I found an information booth. After the young lady was able to pry herself away from her phone I asked to locate the train station. She directed me upstairs where I still couldn't find the exit to the station. I returned to the booth where she walked with me this time upstairs where she promptly pointed out some merchandise stacked up on the floor. They were Play Stations." All the time she heard Play Station when I said "train station." We sorted that out and she was able to walk me to the correct mall exit.
Hahaha brilliant mate thank you for sharing your experience with us 😊
Play stations?? 🤣🤣😂😂Mate I laughed my head when I heard that. Glad you eventually found your way out. 🤣👍👍
Thank you for the really honest update Trev. It is acknowledged that your comments are based on at this particular time. Pre-Covid I have preferred Bangkok to Pattaya as I found it more lively with better shopping and it has historically had a fantastic nightlife. My normal haunts have been Nana (although it had lost its appeal last time I was there in 2019, I was disappointed), Soi Cowboy sets the standard for amazingly beautiful women but they are expensive. My other preferred place is Thermae Bar - the ladies tend to be normal working women, I have met some amazing women and people from all over the world through that meeting place. Historically I have found Pattaya to be a bit lonely but I am not expecting it to be so in November thanks to the Discord community - will be joining in on the many activities Buzzin have organised and looking forward to meeting fellow Discord members as well as yourself and Ian. I suspect Pattaya will become a bi-annual trip. Thanks
Thanks mate much appreciated
It looks like most of the closed Agogos in Cowboy are the expensive ones owned by the Arab guy. So it's probably got a little less of the "money grabbing" vibe it often has.
Since the mid 90s Patpong is the place I really get that "Money Grabbing" feeling...
Gotcha mate
You are right everywhere is struggling... I've just spent time in patong... Bangla is very lively... Not back to pre covid highs but great... Plenty of bands, beers and the girls are first grade... A vid there might be in order... 👀😎🍻
Thanks for sharing, will do a video there when it's worth travelling to again
@@GetOhn it is, prob similar to bkk if you in Bangla... 20mins in bolt taxi can go Karon kata rawai or kamala..
Suits me better than pattaya...
But pattaya fun
@@GetOhn yeah I'm Aussie...
I can understand your apprehension, we always get the prettiest girls 😂
Excuse my ignorance. Are Kamala and Bangla similar party spots to Pattaya?
@@thomasbeirne8213 Bangla in patong is similar, has everything pattaya can offer in bars, clubs gogo etc... Kamala Karon kata rawai have bar scenes but much smaller and cheaper...
Inflation has taken effect on many travel destinations. It looks like walking street in the Philippines. I don't think until the markets stabilize, that traveling will increase 🤔.
gotcha
Great vid.
Thanks mate
AngelWitch was the first club I ever went into in all of Thailand. I met a girl earlier in the day named Noi and she knew the manager or Mamasan?? I just remember that lady was rather nice looking. Not so much like the mamasans I've since come across. It was a very entertaining show and I'll never forget it. 👍👍
They did some fantastic shows
It's not just the high airfares that stop us getting back to Thailand but the airport has backlog and waiting many hours for service and clearance to board due to staff shrtages caused by COVID .The whole mess puts you off travelling for now .
Gotcha mate
You mean a little cough or a false positive with a test that doesn't test for a virus.Thats whats causing the staff shortage.Their usually off for this nonsense not a genuine illness. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!
@@johndean4765 True what you say and they are backed by their Unions heaven forbid anybody say anything against this seven days off rule or challenge it .
If you get COVID you can get it again and again, a seven day sabbatical every time you get it .
Great if you hate your job .
A rort made in heaven .I've had it and it wasn't worse than a light bout of the flu and I am over sixty five and retired .
I was 5 time in Bangkok, in different occation with different people and i can say it"s definitely not the place I wanna go holiday. Living my self in a big megalopolis i don't want spend a holiday at another one. Pattaya, the lovely city of sin by the sea - that's my favorite destination in Thailand!
Fair one mate
Did Bangkok in April was even worse then but made a night of it at that same music bar in Cowboy as you did . Even asked the St/LT prices and trust me you don’t want to know mate it will give you an isn’t headache…
Great music bar, and yeah I was too scared to ask lol
It's been the high season coming 5 years ago that I first visited Thailand and Bankok and sure it was capital city prices regarding the drinks but I came away from my first (and only) visit to Nana thinking like a lot of newbies to the place 'Ok been there, done that' but with an underlying feeling that I'd just come out of a broken car wash that was stuck on the 'rinse' cycle.
Cowboy was different - there Nana style if you want it but also possible to have a seat outside with a cold beer hassle free and watch the world go by.
My advice to a first timer going out there?
Do it (Nana & Cowboy) but only if it's on your bucket list. Otherwise I'd tell them by way of a GOOD night out. that my favourite go back to entertainment area when I'm in Bangkok is without any hesitation, Patpong.
wow great share cheers mate
Yeah agreed spent 10 nights in Bangkok stayed soi 4 had the same thing in the bar just want a beer but they kept coming up (older women - nothing wrong with it I am mid 30's) so after one beer left went elsewhere. Also not cheap think around 140 for a small leo, Nana not much better plenty of Korean/Japanese which the girls went wild for went to one Agogo had a beer and left thought it was pretty bad. Currently in Chiang Mai say 50% of old city closed happy to be returning to Pattaya in a couple of days for a week before heading back home.
Exactly as ya said mate
Love your videos .. very informative and helpful .. for a guy like me who hasn't been in Thailand before .. but is considering it.
Question: thought of travelling light. How is the opportunity to buy clothes - from top to toe - for a middle sized scandinavian like me? Thinking of staying 4 weeks, if the visit happens.
Pattaya...Soi Buakhao market, clothes for all ages and sizes, reasonable prices. 👍
@@jimmydempsey6857 Thanks 🙂
@@jimmydempsey6857 Will add the location to my google maps ..
@@raymond4191 Look for Soi Diana or Soi Lenki ...puts u on to Soi Buakhao.
Clothes shops everywhere mate
Spot on Trev at normal times it is packed to the rafters at Nana plaza and Soi Cowboy but as you say Pattaya has recovered far better than everywhere else. Which is a credit to that area Chang Mai is even worse so the people say Pattaya is dead is far from it and it is the best spot so far.
Yeah that was how it appeared mate
Question. Is Chang Mai a tourist trap/destination like Pattaya? Curious, cuz, like, Pattaya has beaches. Chang Mai mountains? Honestly don't know.
@@thomasbeirne8213 There is sort of more on offer from riding mountain bike down the mountain and lunch by the river, zip lines in the rain forest canopy to white water rafting down the river.
Just a little bit different attractions on offer you still have bars on a smaller scale.
All depends on what you want to do.
@@gotthesinglelife Thanks
there's a reason why we like Pattaya, it's just our type of town, the pace, the lights and food, the attitude's. Bangkok great for concerts....
Gotcha mate
Trev - remember, this is low season....I think you should return for High season
defo will mate for sure
The bars in nana Bangkok have been cutting there own throats for a long time now with high prices, I have just left Bangkok after 3 days it was enough its the worst I have seen it in over 17 years. was nice to get back to Pattaya and see some bars in Soi Buakhao Pattaya seeing sense and beer prices were 50 and 59bt and they were busy better than the rip off bars charging upto 90/100bt. Both Bangkok and Pattaya are in for in tough 12 months. Be better if we were stopped being told its getting busy its not!!.
Same thing but I wasn't thrilled about pattaya either ....4 days there was enough and went elsewhere in Thailand....im definitely getting old 😀
Highest beer I paid was 185B for a Sam Mig, I took a while to drink it lol
@@keithd1219 A lot of bars will close in December in Pattaya you can see it coming more and more places are up for rent every day, walking street to will be on a skid row to after just opening again a bar was closed for drugs and people arrested what hope dose that give to other bars, i went down walking street the other Sunday and it was quite busy but the bars were empty!! Dont think i would like a bar or business at this moment in time
@@stupot1952 Mr Egg just bought the bar next door. He seems very positive about the scene. I don't know....it was pretty dead on walking street when I was there 3 months ago . Tree Town was definitely rather hot spot but most of the girls were either beasts or ladyboys. When I go back in January, ill be doing the west side of Thailand anyhow as I'm really not into the bars anymore.
@@keithd1219 udon thani and nongkhai are worth a try Keith if you not already been
I have lived in BKK for almost 20 years. The prices in Cowboy and Nana are scandalous. I live in the outskirts and a large Leo is 75-90 baht out here. Some good bars and a few with ladies in. If that is want you want. For me. Pattaya is ok for a weekend, maybe 2/3 times a year. Just my opinion.
Damn wish we had met up
I am guessing you were in either Morning Night bar or Stumble Inn had similar experiences. I spent 9 days in Nana in June before coming to Pattaya and the nightlife is very poor and know a few girls who work there and they are finding it very poor as no customers and they finding it hard to survive.
You know mate you know ;)
So, this was Phill Collins - in the air tonight? Lol... 🤣😂🙋🏻♂️🇳🇱
lol
Usually in my experience people that love Pattaya aren't big fans of BKK and visa versa. Seldomly have i meant people that love both cities equally as much.
Cheers mate
is patpong still around
Remember that area many years ago
I didn't get time to go mate sorry
I spent a week in Bangkok May/June this year when you still required a Thailand pass. I went to Soi Cowboy one night and was so disappointed with the dereliction, lack of entertainment and general scruffiness. I also went to the German beer garden in Soi 15 (new to me) which was very pleasant and a very good massage place next door! Soi 4 was dead! Soi 8 OK. I have been coming to Thailand for 21 years and this was the least interesting trip ever. I went on to Phuket on a plane load of Indian men. This was a feature of my time there but the hotel I stayed in at Kata beach was almost empty. Four large swimming pools to choose from. Could not swim in the sea, snorkel or dive due to a shark attack having happened that week.
Thanks for sharing your experience
I agree with Mr T..
The attitude of service staff and some girls in Nana plaza, is very disgusting.. Only about 3 decent and busy bars..
Yeah wasn't for me this time around
Murray Wards fancy travelling all that way to encounter girls with bad attitude.
