In Danny Harmon's juice train video, he said to capture the unusual and document the ordinary (something like that) because one day, it may all be gone.
CSX is testing their network connection to all of Pan-Ams control points. They are running through all of the functions and testing each control bit to find any problems on the network to schedule repairs. You will see switches and derailers and signals being tested cycling through all of the possible indications And over the next few weeks you should see repair crews out making repairs to anything they find that is not working 100%. I would expect them to be installing the Ku band two-way satellite dishes on all of the control point bungalows as well as cellular backups on the bungalows. I don't know if they will be replacing any of the signals but the bungalows will be getting new equipment to conform to CSX Network standards.
All the New England railroads should have rebelled against CSX even thinking of purchasing PanAm. This railroad will run things down, close East Deerfield yard and slowly eliminate customers. Seen this happen in so many places. Their slogan should be, 'It sucks to be you' !
No, CSX has pledged millions of dollars into infrastructure repairs and upgrades. East Deerfield is STILL open and currently is processing a normal volume of traffic. Eight months after your initial comment, you're still wrong. Even then, it was inevitable for the takeover of Pan Am. Even then, most railroads welcomed CSX and improved interchange conditions.
The Tech train will be going through all the tracks and switches to identify any areas that need replacement. CSX plans to run fast, time is money, so they will be doing a lot of work this summer.
4:00 that canal is always up to that footbridge, situation normal. It seems fast moving but that's it's job as opposed to a navigation canal. The intake would have to be controlled. Any excess or seasonal would simply flow down the river's normal path.
Wow. Those are bad switches. I am sad though to see most likely the days of all of pan am's old power. And I believe 2 days later after you shot this I caught that ns trio coming south on 11r
I used to monitor the ATCS transmissions and I had a server when I lived in Malta. I miss the action I keep trying to find people who would be interested in having a monitor site to feed the data to my server
On one hand I was happy to the see the name out there, but on the other "Pan Am" was never meant to be a railroad. Aviation was its first, best destiny. Also, Timothy Mellon.. just "no".
There have been several Pan am locomotives moved to the Binghamton yard but I don't know where they went after that and I'm not sure if they are being sold or least or retired just being sent to be painted the CSX colors
We just saw a group of Pan Am Power at the Lordstown Yard in Ohio. Not sure If they are being refurbed or scraped. So many diesels there it’s hard to say
It's sad to see Pan Am go bye bye but at least Maine will have more Trains now and 2 Years ago in Maine CP bought CMQ and now it's CSX buying Pan Am this is crazy
Glad you’re optimistic, but even CSX themselves say there won’t be any more trains for at least a few years. CP’s acquisition of CMQ reduced trains drastically.

Pan Am did get the short end of the stick to be fair. Second hand equipment, poor infrastructure, PTC problems, etc. I try not to think it’s the company managements problem although it very well could be. I tend to think it’s more of a streak of bad luck
Pan Am / Guilford has and always will be horrible, their powers cool but their slow trains and bad track isn’t good Let’s hope CSX and G&W’a B&E (Berkshire & Eastern) Will fix this right, I for one am happy to see this “Nuisance railroad” being revamped in a good right

as Steven J Brown says in his Chicago railfan videos "Document the boring, common and mundane now because it might become speical and rare later"
That’s why we travel, to see new places and railroads that we may not be able to see again!
In Danny Harmon's juice train video, he said to capture the unusual and document the ordinary (something like that) because one day, it may all be gone.
East Deerfield is a good place to see trains, in fact I’m at EDY right now
A new Era with CSX, no doubt that will SUCK !

Please find and listen this country train song "I'M MOVING ON BY HANK SNOW, I think you'll like it, chris
The engineers don't wave from the trains anymore; not like they did back in 1954
Not on Class I and II railroads, shortlines remain friendly in many cases

He created a near impossible challenge for CSX to try to fix! 😆
Awesome!! Typical Pan Animus breaking the switch. Usually what we do is head west to find 16R. And chase it back to ED
Will try that next time but I was waiting there for ED-4 and EDBF.
@@NorthCountryTrains I’m going to try on the 30th. For MEC 3405. That or go to Lowell to see what’s in that area

@@panamrailways7327 damn bro nice insult for the truth, one pan am doesn’t know how to run a train without blowing up in 30 miles
Still at a loss to figure out what PanAm Railways brings to the CSX table.
Id think its more northern maine rail routes where they can ship lumber directly.
Still at a loss myself, we can only hope they don’t pull a CP and actually invest in ALL types of traffic on the railroad.
Maine Lumber, a connection into Canada, and Poland Spring water is PanAms largest customer by far (think Tropicana juice train in Tampa)
switch is not broken, the engine was crouding the switch, all he had to do was back off it more!
