- Ratsiraka was in power from 1975 until 1992 and returned for another stint from 1997 to 2002.
Famed for his strong socialist policies, he was a national hero and a great patriot for some. For others, a ruthless dictator with policies that led to the ruin of the national economy and the country’s cultural heritage, which left Madagascar as one of the poorest nations on earth.
What an amazing narrator! I can listen to this man for hours his voice is very soothing. Great job sir!!👍👍
Humbled
So hes King Julien in real life
LMAO
True 😂🤣😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Madagascar is just doomed!! I think it’s safe to say in Africa I’m yet to see this land reforming being a successful story. If there can be disciplined pres like Sankara etc etc .
Check out Sir Seretse Khama of Botswana then.
Guys please focus on leaders who helped their countries rather than destroying it too, although they will be handful but it would be better to see them from time to time for a change.
History doesn't care about anyone's emotions unfortunately. If its part of history let it be taught. we need to know where we are coming from that way we know where we are going.
peace
@@kapambwekapambwe4131 I agree but please read again I'm not saying to stop making videos on dictators I'm saying to highlight good leaders as well aren't they part of history?

such a large island, so little news. Very interesting, history is hard, Thank You for this!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for the video! 🇲🇬🇲🇬
Our pleasure!
Nice report, Just one mistake : from 19mn 52s to 20mn 29s, the picture shown as being Marc Ravalomanana is actually Andry Rajoelina (the current president of Madagascar)
Thanks
People often misbehave when there is no accountability on their actions: Carte blanche!
Apparently, when the colonizers left they took the rule of law with them.
Keep up the good work!!! Underrated channel. Many in Africa don't know much of this history.
19:55 That's not Ravalomanana. That's Ravalomanana's nemesis: Andry Rajoelina.
New subscriber from Kenya. In love with this production.
Awesome! Thank you!
Jaber tunaweza juana

Love this channel.
Glad you enjoy it!
Please can you do a documentary on Dr. John Garang - the Revolutionary of Sudan. There’s so much about him that today’s generation would want to learn.
You should do a piece on Tom Mboya from Kenya
You should do one on Tongogara
Great content. The author/narrator should however read the history in accurate fashion... As the majority of so-called former french colonies, Africa's Great Island is destabilized at wish by French state. Was pdt. Didier Ratsiraka a good or bad ruler is a subjective matter: beauty is the eyes of the beholder. Madagascar, the pearl of Africa, was one of Africa's most organized kingdoms. The kingdom was destabilized by foreign invasions, mostly the french who are controlling the the Great Island as we speak. Recently french govt' proxies attempted an assassination of current Malagasy president. In mid-2015 France claimed, through her ambassador, Madagascar's micro islands as French territories (!). Africans must unite and be ready to die for their lands, as one people.
We will Cover that at some point in time.
Many of the political /socioeconomic failures of communist countries arose from the disintegration of the global left since the 1980s.
Even though the narration here is very balanced, I think we should not be very quick to judge this president of Madagascar for the woes of the nation without learning a little bit more.
Great video
Thanks!
0:11 Least scary African President.
With no proper planning everything will fall apart, socialism is not the answer. Ratsraka may have had dreams of prosperity but he lacked planning because i believe he ran the country as a one man army, no governance no accountability
Great channel, factual content! I see the author is no fan of Communists either, which is rare these days in the media community!
