- Conde likened himself to Mandela and Obama later calling himself Guineas Mandela. Before coming to power in 2010, He had been through a lot from exile in France for years, to being sentenced to death in 1970 and even enduring two and half years in prison.
So what changed? Why did Conde change from a promising Guinean leader to a tyrant? Why was he overthrown, why did the coup succeed and how will he be remembered? This is the Rise and tragic Downfall of Alpha Conde.

Another excellent video. This channel has the potential to get even bigger, as there are few out there who can provide an authentic narrative of African political history, which is full of intrigue and can be interesting to a wider audience. Conde is just another in the line of past and present African rulers (I won't use the word 'leaders') who become villains when they get the chance to make things better. Sadly, the coup may not improve living standards for Guineans and will simply introduce another tyrant.
Exactly my brother, the fact that all African leaders, whether democratically elected or not, follow the same political ploy of plundering resources while the rest of the population lives in destitution, famine and threatens any opponent with death as his predecessors did, really saddens me.

If a man calls himself Mandela (unless that’s actually his name of course), you can tell he’s a egotist who thinks way too highly of himself. Seriously no man would be subtle if they call themselves possibly the greatest living being to ever walk the planet and trust me the actual Mandela would not call himself that.

Gaddafi of Libya, Konde of guinea, Mugabe of Zimbabwe, Kenyatta Of Kenya, Kamuzu Banda of Malawi, Kabila of Congo, Museveni of Uganda, Kwame of Ghana started as socialist liberators but ended up as dictators. Most leaned towards Marxist- Leninists philosophy. So what happened is the qn?

There's little hope the coup changes much for the citizens of Guinean tho, the new regime is as much if not more corrupt than the last one.
What needs to happen is democratic reform, not military coups... Back to square one.

Dictatorships and dictators are never any good. The most loved and celebrated dictator in Africa at present is Paul Kagame. Never celebrate dictatorship. Its never any good.
It depends on what the dictator does if he’s brutal I agree don’t celebrate it but it’s still complex if some dictators are doing better for the country than regular presidents
It pains my heart when people who don't know much and the actual fact about my country makes comments about it like they even live in the country. Alpha Conde knew what he and his colleagues had planned about Daddis that's exactly why he never wanted him to ever come back to Guinea to defend himself I mean if why would someone who has been accused of crime against humanity want to go back to the country is he is not innocent

Excellent video. I've learned much about Alpha Konde. I would advise you look at the DRC side, where the actual president the son of the historical opposition leader E Tshisekedi is by all evidence failing to live to the hype of his family name. Another idea, what would be the odds of T Obiang Ngwema Jr to hold on to power after his father's time? I don't see him last 5 years. I see him negociate his departure to live a playboy life in a tropical island.😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅

One thing that has proven to be consistent in Africa (with a few notable outlier/exceptions) is that democracy as a form of government is wrong for us, we need to formulate our own form of Government. We can keep trying but it's like beating a dead horse. The story is usually the same, from the leaders that took over after the decolonization to the current crops of politicians that we have across all countries of the sub-saharan Africa, they all seem to appear clueless in properly governing a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and diverse people we have on this continent.
For me, most African countries have had some decent experience with democracy for us to know that it's just might be the wrong form of government for us. I don't have a good answer for what that kind of government may/might be (definitely not military), but I think it's about time we abandon the western styled democracy. Unless we enjoy beating around the bush and watch the rest of the world move on while they milk us for all they can get and leave us as devastated as they met us.

You would think for someone who lives in France for many years would have some common sense not trying to be a dictator, he created his own demise. He was nothing but a dictator and a loser. Why do African mis leaders want to rule for ever..a very good question..Tragically,I think they see themselves as current kings emulating the great African kings who ruled for life I.e Shaka,Mansa Musa,Kabakas.Even their luxurious lifestyle & trying to be demi Gods mimics the former African kings.but they forget the kings had a social contract with his citizens and held all kingdoms wealth land,cows etc in trust.what Africa needs is a one term tenure for any leader which if extended,will be seemed as treasonable!
