dude, i voted! 😅for me though, i thought it was really hard to understand what his goal for participating in the show was, i don't think he was really aiming for getting into a quartet (unlike jinho with phantom singer). it's also been a bit frustrating because i know how good he is, but i don't think he's been able to really showcase his abilities, every week me being like "this is not how you play this game my baby!!"
I haven’t watched the full video yet LOL but I just wanted to comment that the BTS for Semi-Final came out and there’s a whole bit of Jeup, Suhwan and Donghun being in a love line with sunyoul singing the Transit Love/Exchange OST! XD god I wish they were a team 😭
OMG, that whole interview segment was honestly just so hilarious from start to finish. It made me want to tell Mnet to just debut Partners and Waterfire together. I did NOT know Suhwan had that level of sass in him. I was gagged.
I don't really care much about hunminjaybit rank since I already knew they're not going to be eliminated for the semi finals but giving them 90 is a crime. Given how hard the song and how hard they slayed it 90 is just nah it could've been at least 93 and it was the only performance that got me goosebumps. The whole episode felt wierd to me, it's like heavily scripted. The judge's energy the whole time is completely different from the previous episodes, they look very awkward reacting or commenting. Idk if it's just me but the episode is really boring asf.
I can't help wishing that Seunghun and Bain had been switched. Seunghun could have shown his abs and Bain could have had Jay's team strutting around on stage.....
I've never been so mad than when Uptown Funk got #1. I found them to be pitchy, off rhythm in parts and it made no sense for the show, so when the judges kept praising them I felt my blood pressure rise to unprecedented levels LMAO These judges are proving the shows criticism of "sing an English pop song that you'll get showered with 100s regardless" Like the one judge literally said that Uptown Funk wasn't really about vocals BUT THEY STILL GAVE THEM HIGH POINTSSSSS I feel gaslighted, what is this show even about at this point?
Maybe I'm hallucinating but this performance was giving 4 dudes singing karaoke and not giving a shit and since I'm trying to take this show seriously I got super mad at it lmao
Saaaaame omg they were so pitchy and their voices kept breaking it was all I could focus on and so when the Judges thought it was fun I was like "did we watch the same performance"
personally my fav was drama. i was surprised that they were the leftovers when their voices suit each other so well. 😭😭 wumuti was so cunty, and suhwan proved himself yet again. rlly don’t know why people aren’t talking about suhwan he’s an all rounder with crazy vocals 🥲 edit: got to your opinions. it rlly was the girls + suhwan 😭 26:29 ffff they really should’ve gone the cunty route
Honestly, I do agree with the criticism on the harmonies for 'Drowning' but, they do not deserve such a low score, it feels like the judges standards keep changing... I never know how they're gonna evaluate.
I’m having legitimate Under Nineteen PTSD in fear for Wumuti right now… like… do y’all know how hard this man has worked and for how long to become an idol in KOREA, not even his own country😳 He has spent so many years of his life isolated and trying to succeed and working his ass off… he did SOO SOOOO well on Under Nineteen and then Boys Planet broke my heart a bit… and his journey has felt like such a long struggle that sometimes it actually just makes me cry… I need something good to happen for him🥺🙏🥺 … I know I was mad at him for the last challenge, but he and Jay have been the two contestants from Under Nineteen I’ve been rooting for since I watched the show a couple years ago… I watched it because of JUST B (Bain does well on the show and Doyum debuts in 1st place with 1the9) and have rewatched a couple of times😅 Jay was totally screwed over on that show and I’m not even sure what happened with Wumuti but it was a hot mess of a competition show🥺
Not that you asked at all… but as a 39 year old who constantly feels out of place in ALL populations, I think I need to briefly explain… I didn’t get into kpop til I turned 35 when COVID hit and I was already into watching a lot of kdramas… I was an East Asian Studies major with a minor in Chinese undergrad and was always into anime and Asian culture in general… and music and dance and art in general are everything to me… so I first got into BlackPink randomly circa How You Like That (lol my husband loves them too-my ringtone for him is As If It’s Your Last) and then saw Ten dancing and completely fell in love with him and WayV and then NCT (the other units always come after WayV for me)… then I watched I-LAND and got into ENHYPEN and kept tabs on the other contestants… then I got into EXO and fell in love with Baekhyun and Kai and the rest of the members… then I was rewatching I-LAND (watched it like 4 times and give up when Geonu is eliminated😬) and looked him up and found out that he would be debuting literally the next day😎 and I’ve been stanning since and have gone to see them four times, five soon with LA… lol my husband is flying out with me-we’re also trying to do Universal and we’re going to see Alkaline Trio❤️🔥he isn’t going to see JUST B with me though, so yet again it’s me alone with a bunch of people 15-20 years younger than me and I never feel like I fit in… but the members always make the fans feel welcomed and loved, and Doyum guessed that I was 20 (LOL??) and said I have beautiful eyes… so I guess that’s kind of a win🥰 So yea… sorry for that… just felt like giving backstory because people think it’s weird that I’m into a group so young when I’m as old as I am… but we don’t have kids and my coworkers always think I’m in my 20s (lol I only wear hoodies/athletic wear and am into kpop and collecting toys😅) so maybe I should just start lying about my age…
It’s so weird to me that everyone is very divisive over Drama. Personally, I liked it. I was gagged and breathless throughout the performance and it was the only one that really gave me goosebumps.
I have not heard the original song so I also liked drama vocally and would put them in my top3 but performance wise the team were not on the same concept specially when they showed this soldier training snippet right before the performance. The performance felt stiff to me which shouldn't be happening when you are in front of audience, they won't connect.
Maybe I’m a little biased since woodz is my favorite artist, but I felt like Jay, regardless of is amazing vocals did not match with the song drowning, this song is so emotional and raw and I felt like jay didn’t match it, Seunghun on the other hand had so much raw emotion and really shined on his parts
I agree, "Drama" was not giving I fear. Was not a fan of the choices for the arrangement and don't think really fit a vocal competition. It was my least favorite performance. Side note; Suhwan is soooo cute, I am so sad companies have made him feel that way. :( For "Drowning" I really enjoyed the vocals and felt like it was the most vocally challenging. Unfortunately I believe you are right, the harmonies were not really there. Still, I think they did a good job considering the song they chose and everyone stood out in a fun way (Jay's high notes, Seunghans rasp, Minseo's lower register and Bitsaeon's vowel usage). "Guilty" felt the most cohesive. Not a perfect performance as I do think Bain and Woong fell more into the background, but the harmonies were there and they gave us a energy-packed last third with the the riffs and runs. Jeup kinda stood out a bit, in a non-cohesive way, but it wasn't as obvious as some contestants in other performances. "Uptown Funk" is what was expected. A really fun performance song. I do wish the vocals were stronger and don't agree with the judges that it should have been that high. It bothers me that they don't always communicate to the contestants or audiences what they are really judging. Seohyun and that bass voice! Though I think I agree that Haram needed a bigger presence and wish he was used more. "Gift" I agree was not very memorable, I think they needed to change their concept and show off something new. If they really needed to stay ballad, I think a more powerful song would have suited them better instead of the mid-tempo choice. Thank you again for the breakdowns! I always enjoy sitting down and hearing your thoughts on the performances, especially coming from a musical theater background. See ya'll next week.
I love the way you talk about conflicts. I wouldn't post/comment about it online, but I did judge some people in BP for example based of out of context/evil edit. It was a relief to hear your calm perspective, I didn't feel called out in a bad way at all. But also, I am close to 30. Not a near death grandpa yet, but maybe enough to be a Kpop daddy. I could not focus during the Drama performance. It's just... "the big twist is that we're doing a super masc real men going to war version" and then vocally nailed the fem energy of the original song but standing stiff at times as a performance concept. I liked it when I listened with my eyes closed and forgot the pretended narrative. I imagine they realized at some point the masc version would not happen but already chose the costumes and filmed the training session 😂
In case you’re interested, Bain/Geonu have an OST track called Finally You… it was removed from Spotify for some reason which really made me sad because I used to listen to that song all of the time on my JUST B playlist🥺 It’s actually proof that Geonu & Bain can really do ballads… look up the MV on RUclips… I really hope they put the song back on Spotify soon😭
I'm starting to just watch this show and that's it, it's so messy.. Nothing seem to have been thought through.. It's already pretty obvious who they want to debut 😑 Also the judges are all over the place.. I don't like the way they judge, and the whole show has been all about how they feel instead of looking at the bigger picture.. It's too biased, also them putting so much focus on 2 specific contestants is a little much in my opinion.. TBH I'm not saying this because Donghun is my bias, but Guilty was the best performance of the night based on vocals, and I actually liked Drowning.. I had a little feeling of it missing something when I listened to it, but I still think it was better than the other 3 songs.. Uptown Funk was fun and that group is so fun to watch and they're honestly soo cute, but vocal wise it wasn't it.. I liked Drama more than Gift in the sense that they tried.. I knew when DoReMiFa ended in the top 5 that they would be the first to go.. All of them have only done ballads and no one in this show would win only doing ballads 😔 Don't get me started on Fridays EP.. So many things are wrong with how they do this 😮💨
it's pretty clear to me what happened in this episode, cause really there's nothing that justifies those scores except for: mnet needs the ratings. build up has been so cohesive with how the best candidates for debut are also the most popular ones, that it makes things a little too predictable. this is just how survival shows work, you gotta keep the audience on their toes so the little "hunminjaybit are in danger" drama was createad. i agree about the bain and woong playing the same role thingy but if jeup's reasoning is the one im thinking about, then he's REALLY smart it all comes down to partners and hunminjaybit after all, unless they really wanna throw a twist (which i dont think they will). i had a feeling the actual twist would be the debut group with 5 members and not 4, which would solve the problem of having to pick between donghun, jeup, jay, seunghun and bain, but with the news of the final 3 groups touring (overseas included btw!!!) i'm not sure anymore.
one thing i dont agree about, bain and woong didn't have the same role. bain's voice is so much more powerful and he did high notes too. woong has an unique tone that adds flavor to the performance
Drowning by Woodz is such a great song, but it's so fitted to Woodz' specific vocal color that it's hard to beat even though all 4 have great voices overalll
I think teamwork and cohesiveness will be important from now on because these groups are fixed now and they want the team that works best together to win
The way I’m suddenly wishing LimJi was performing Guilty with the other 3 members😅He would have fucking destroyed it❤️🔥… and he has a VERY different vocal tone that would’ve been insane to hear😭
What's so disappointing is that WaterFire did that arrangement for Drama. Because they could've been jaw dropping if they did a girl group song, in the original key. *I just realized by typing this. They should've done Gfriend. Now I'm imagining it and I'm SO MAD that this is not a reality.
Even after listening to the original. I really like Drama's arrangement. The performance was alright but the song itself i liked a lot. Something felt off with Drowning. It sounded disjointed and messy. The original version is also pretty disjointed but it was easy to listen to. Their rendition kept me from being fully immersed in the song. Ultimately I think Jay and Bitsaeons together in this song was too much. Maybe one or the other but not together. I do agree with the rest of what you said for the performances. My ranking would have been Guilty, Drama, Drowning, uptown funk then gift. Guilty is definitely the most polished out of the five. I really hope waterfire goes to the finals 😭 just because i want wumuti to get into the group.
When I watched this episode for the first time, and after rewatching the performances on RUclips… I really felt like WaterFire was my least favorite performance-I’m glad they were able to stay and it was a huge relief, but something about the arrangement of Drama felt weird and didn’t sit well with me… I think the vocal mix in general was off and they didn’t have diversity, like, they could’ve really benefitted from a bass-tone😳… but that totally wasn’t their fault since they were last picks… also I hate to say it but I don’t like Wumuti and Hayoon’s tones mixed together in a group setting… I feel like Hayoon would make an amazing solo artist but his voice kind of stands out too much for me in a group, kind of like with Gwangseok💗
Maybe I just missed you guys talking about this but apparently there was a Kpop boy group survival show in the Philippines. Have not looked into it but sounds like it was made for Boys Love.
Guilty was number one for me, not because they showed their abs but because their vocals were amazing and dramatic and the harmonization was on point, and I also liked how they all interacted with each other on the stage, walking circles around each other while singing. It was a very complete stage in my opinion. My number 2 pic is Drowning. I think they did a great job vocally even if they didn't completely feel like a group (which was the critique from the judges but which I don't really agree with 100 percent). My third stage is Uptown Funk because I do think they did a great job with sweeping the audience up in the atmosphere they created. It might not have been as vocally perfect but it was definitely a very fun performance. My number 4 is Drama and I wasn't really a big fan of this performance as a whole. Props to them for rearranging the song and giving it a new and interesting twist but it didn't really grab me. The performance I liked least even though their vocals were very nice is the ballad one whose song title I can't even recall. And I must say it was the performance that I couldn't really remember anything about. Yes, their voices are beautiful but yet again it's a ballad (and ballads can be really beautiful and amazing) and we've had soooo many ballads already, especially from these members, that I was very underwhelmed with their performance. And that's sad because I'm sure they worked hard as well. But I wish they could have offered something new to the audience this time around. I'm very nervous about Friday, not just because of the performances but also because the judging on the last episode felt very confusing to me so I can't predict anything anymore. Thanks for your guys' review, I'm always looking forward to hearing what you have to say. I was hoping you would say who your pics are for the final lineup, but perhaps they haven't changed from the last review? Anyway, thanks for the video

dude, i voted!
We have the exact same opinions about drama. It’s nice to see that someone else agrees
I was gagged.
adam losing it over ricky's twink death is SO real
“Taerae gives me Zumba at the Y”????!!!!🤣🤣🤣I’m dead
I don't really care much about hunminjaybit rank since I already knew they're not going to be eliminated for the semi finals but giving them 90 is a crime. Given how hard the song and how hard they slayed it 90 is just nah it could've been at least 93 and it was the only performance that got me goosebumps.
The whole episode felt wierd to me, it's like heavily scripted. The judge's energy the whole time is completely different from the previous episodes, they look very awkward reacting or commenting. Idk if it's just me but the episode is really boring asf.
Maybe the judges were feeling the pressure of the audience: they don't want to say anything that will send hate mobs after them.
@@Maria-uv9pd Maybe since they're idols too and most of knetz are insufferable.
I can't help wishing that Seunghun and Bain had been switched. Seunghun could have shown his abs and Bain could have had Jay's team strutting around on stage.....
I'll never move on from the Zumba thing.
Listen when we're right we're right 💃🏻
37:16 omg yes! i was so happy that geonu got to act goofy
I've never been so mad than when Uptown Funk got #1. I found them to be pitchy, off rhythm in parts and it made no sense for the show, so when the judges kept praising them I felt my blood pressure rise to unprecedented levels LMAO
These judges are proving the shows criticism of "sing an English pop song that you'll get showered with 100s regardless"
Like the one judge literally said that Uptown Funk wasn't really about vocals BUT THEY STILL GAVE THEM HIGH POINTSSSSS I feel gaslighted, what is this show even about at this point?
Maybe I'm hallucinating but this performance was giving 4 dudes singing karaoke and not giving a shit and since I'm trying to take this show seriously I got super mad at it lmao
Saaaaame omg they were so pitchy and their voices kept breaking it was all I could focus on and so when the Judges thought it was fun I was like "did we watch the same performance"
😭 imagine my shock. I mean yes it's fun but where did the vocal and team concept go?
personally my fav was drama. i was surprised that they were the leftovers when their voices suit each other so well. 😭😭 wumuti was so cunty, and suhwan proved himself yet again. rlly don’t know why people aren’t talking about suhwan he’s an all rounder with crazy vocals 🥲
edit: got to your opinions. it rlly was the girls + suhwan 😭
26:29 ffff they really should’ve gone the cunty route
Honestly, I do agree with the criticism on the harmonies for 'Drowning' but, they do not deserve such a low score, it feels like the judges standards keep changing... I never know how they're gonna evaluate.
I’m having legitimate Under Nineteen PTSD in fear for Wumuti right now… like… do y’all know how hard this man has worked and for how long to become an idol in KOREA, not even his own country😳 He has spent so many years of his life isolated and trying to succeed and working his ass off… he did SOO SOOOO well on Under Nineteen and then Boys Planet broke my heart a bit… and his journey has felt like such a long struggle that sometimes it actually just makes me cry… I need something good to happen for him🥺🙏🥺
… I know I was mad at him for the last challenge, but he and Jay have been the two contestants from Under Nineteen I’ve been rooting for since I watched the show a couple years ago… I watched it because of JUST B (Bain does well on the show and Doyum debuts in 1st place with 1the9) and have rewatched a couple of times😅
Jay was totally screwed over on that show and I’m not even sure what happened with Wumuti but it was a hot mess of a competition show🥺
I think the same way you do about wumuti's team... like, can't believe they got 95 😭😭😭 like what is up with the song choice?!? Omg!
i’ve been waiting for yalls opinion on the judging of this episode😭mnet has kind of lost the plot of the shot…
The only workout Bain has done before this is Pilates
Not that you asked at all… but as a 39 year old who constantly feels out of place in ALL populations, I think I need to briefly explain… I didn’t get into kpop til I turned 35 when COVID hit and I was already into watching a lot of kdramas… I was an East Asian Studies major with a minor in Chinese undergrad and was always into anime and Asian culture in general… and music and dance and art in general are everything to me… so I first got into BlackPink randomly circa How You Like That (lol my husband loves them too-my ringtone for him is As If It’s Your Last) and then saw Ten dancing and completely fell in love with him and WayV and then NCT (the other units always come after WayV for me)…
then I watched I-LAND and got into ENHYPEN and kept tabs on the other contestants… then I got into EXO and fell in love with Baekhyun and Kai and the rest of the members… then I was rewatching I-LAND (watched it like 4 times and give up when Geonu is eliminated😬) and looked him up and found out that he would be debuting literally the next day😎
and I’ve been stanning since and have gone to see them four times, five soon with LA… lol my husband is flying out with me-we’re also trying to do Universal and we’re going to see Alkaline Trio❤️🔥he isn’t going to see JUST B with me though, so yet again it’s me alone with a bunch of people 15-20 years younger than me and I never feel like I fit in… but the members always make the fans feel welcomed and loved, and Doyum guessed that I was 20 (LOL??) and said I have beautiful eyes… so I guess that’s kind of a win🥰
So yea… sorry for that… just felt like giving backstory because people think it’s weird that I’m into a group so young when I’m as old as I am… but we don’t have kids and my coworkers always think I’m in my 20s (lol I only wear hoodies/athletic wear and am into kpop and collecting toys😅) so maybe I should just start lying about my age…
It’s so weird to me that everyone is very divisive over Drama. Personally, I liked it. I was gagged and breathless throughout the performance and it was the only one that really gave me goosebumps.
I have not heard the original song so I also liked drama vocally and would put them in my top3
but performance wise the team were not on the same concept specially when they showed this soldier training snippet right before the performance. The performance felt stiff to me which shouldn't be happening when you are in front of audience, they won't connect.
NO, I LOVED DRAMA. like yes, it was a hot mess, but it was /my/ hot mess, yk?
Do you know about the build up tour? Apparently there will be concerts for the top 12 both domestically and internationally. In June
Oh really ? That's great !
Am I the one who enjoy Waterfire performance of Drama. I love the vocal, harmony, and it gave me Drama. 😂
I agree, "Drama" was not giving I fear. Was not a fan of the choices for the arrangement and don't think really fit a vocal competition. It was my least favorite performance.
Side note; Suhwan is soooo cute, I am so sad companies have made him feel that way. :(
For "Drowning" I really enjoyed the vocals and felt like it was the most vocally challenging.
In case you’re interested, Bain/Geonu have an OST track called Finally You… it was removed from Spotify for some reason which really made me sad because I used to listen to that song all of the time on my JUST B playlist🥺
It’s actually proof that Geonu & Bain can really do ballads… look up the MV on RUclips… I really hope they put the song back on Spotify soon😭
i didnt even realize water fire team was doing a soldier concept i thought they were just doing team bonding😅
lol Woodz is also Woong’s high school friend and they’re still friends to this day 😂
Water Fire doing Aespa's Welcome To My World could have been an epic alternative! Loving these recaps!
I'm starting to just watch this show and that's it, it's so messy.. Nothing seem to have been thought through.. It's already pretty obvious who they want to debut 😑
Also the judges are all over the place..
All of them have only done ballads and no one in this show would win only doing ballads 😔
Don't get me started on Fridays EP.. So many things are wrong with how they do this 😮💨
You touched so many points I was pissed off about!!
it's pretty clear to me what happened in this episode, cause really there's nothing that justifies those scores except for: mnet needs the ratings. build up has been so cohesive with how the best candidates for debut are also the most popular ones, that it makes things a little too predictable.
this is just how survival shows work, you gotta keep the audience on their toes so the little "hunminjaybit are in danger" drama was createad.
i agree about the bain and woong playing the same role thingy but if jeup's reasoning is the one im thinking about, then he's REALLY smart
it all comes down to partners and hunminjaybit after all, unless they really wanna throw a twist (which i dont think they will).
i had a feeling the actual twist would be the debut group with 5 members and not 4, which would solve the problem of having to pick between donghun, jeup, jay, seunghun and bain, but with the news of the final 3 groups touring (overseas included btw!!!) i'm not sure anymore.
one thing i dont agree about, bain and woong didn't have the same role. bain's voice is so much more powerful and he did high notes too. woong has an unique tone that adds flavor to the performance
Drowning by Woodz is such a great song, but it's so fitted to Woodz' specific vocal color that it's hard to beat even though all 4 have great voices overalll
I think teamwork and cohesiveness will be important from now on because these groups are fixed now and they want the team that works best together to win
Why can I 100% see Taerae doing Zoomba at the Y xD
The way I’m suddenly wishing LimJi was performing Guilty with the other 3 members😅He would have fucking destroyed it❤️🔥… and he has a VERY different vocal tone that would’ve been insane to hear😭
I love your tangents… Michelle Pfeiffer is a fucking GODDESS❤️🔥
“Are You Saying This Is Green Book”?!!?? LOL WTF🤣
Once again, my order is the same as RJ
our taste 💅
39:05 yeah like. in teaser for next ep sumin was giving his ideas to producer.
sumin reminds me so much of bang chan on so many levels
The taerae slannnddder 😂😂😂😂
What's so disappointing is that WaterFire did that arrangement for Drama. Because they could've been jaw dropping if they did a girl group song, in the original key.
*I just realized by typing this. They should've done Gfriend. Now I'm imagining it and I'm SO MAD that this is not a reality.
come for the episode recap, stay for the tito rj bit
When I watched this episode for the first time, and after rewatching the performances on RUclips… I really felt like WaterFire was my least favorite performance-I’m glad they were able to stay and it was a huge relief, but something about the arrangement of Drama felt weird and didn’t sit well with me… I think the vocal mix in general was off and they didn’t have diversity, like, they could’ve really benefitted from a bass-tone😳… but that totally wasn’t their fault since they were last picks… also I hate to say it but I don’t like Wumuti and Hayoon’s tones mixed together in a group setting… I feel like Hayoon would make an amazing solo artist but his voice kind of stands out too much for me in a group, kind of like with Gwangseok💗
hunminjaybit going 1st was the worst outcome for them
27:40 FRR like loona is right there 😩 (is it right to use their songs in that case idk)
Jay ❤
Maybe I just missed you guys talking about this but apparently there was a Kpop boy group survival show in the Philippines. Have not looked into it but sounds like it was made for Boys Love.
Can I just say, if we’re talking vocal queen girl group song choices, WHYYYY does no one ever go with Dreamcatcher??? WHY WHY WHYYYYYY😭
uptown funk is not a bruno mars song???.💀
Anyway, thanks for the video
lol not you saying “near death” and “senior center” while I just turned 39… 😳😭💀🪦
