There's a difference between it sounding different to a studio version and it just being played poorly, they're all out of time with each other, playing wrong notes etc
@@charizardmaster13 there's being a bit sloppy then there is just playing at different tempos to each other, kele is in his own world and not paying attention to the rest of the band, matts a brilliant writer but he's a horrible live drummer, only one who really does a good job of staying in time is Gordon, and nah there's definitely instances where Russell Just isn't precise enough and is playing incorrect notes
+Alfie haigh i dont hear it with russel and mate if theyre that badly out of time then how the hell did they keep the performance together and still coherent infront of that crowd where everybody was loving it. it still sounds like the song just sped up and a bit messier
Well obviously like I'd still kill to be in that crowd and of course they're still loving it because it's fucking helicopter by bloc party, and aye okay it's probably more "sloppy" than outright out of time, but its too sloppy for my personal taste whilst watching it on RUclips (if I was there in those moshes and that obviously I'd be loving it)
David Bos your comment + that moment at 1:31 made me laugh out loud, but I still love Bloc Party. There's something actually cool about these out of control moments in such a manic song ... their performances are more polished these days
not their tightest performance, honestly. from several live performances i've noticed that kele always plays the songs at his own tempo rather than listening to matt (this usually means kele is going slightly ahead of everyone at all times). both guitarists seem to have forgotten that this song actually requires a lot of precision and synchronization to play. instead russell goes completely jonny greenwood in the worst way and kele strums randomly and as a result they sound out of sync and all over the place. then matt. oh my god. phenomenal technician. cannot hold a beat together. to worsen the situation he has to follow two guitarists completely stuck in their own world. props to gordon for staying on matt's faltering groove. that being said, to be in a crowd like that fist-pumping and moshing to this awesome song is pretty phenomenal. bloc party may not have the best players, but they are great at getting the energy across. and that is the ultimate goal of live performance. if you are excited and passionate about what you do, the audience will feel it and love it. i'd take this version over the versions they were playing in 2013 any day.
Ionjohn actually, i give a fuck about what i think, which is why i commented because as a fan and a human being, i have the right to compliment and critique things. i love how you're personally offended by this. it's actually laughably silly, because it instantly proves you're the kid. again, as stated in my first comment, the energy is incredible. but this is not their tightest performance. excuse me for having an opinion, little boy. someone get him a bottle of milk.
No one cares what you think so why don't you just keep it to yourself? You're not even 10% as good as they are so how can you judge their performance? It just doesn't make any sense, how can a kid who can barely play guitar judge musicians who have played more than a thousand times live? Get off your high horse, you don't know jack about music.
Ionjohn angry much? i was just expressing an opinion. and i praised their energy, which, if you read carefully, is something that i said i thought they delivered in spades, which i enjoyed very much. as far as it goes for musicianship, i debate the notion that you have to be a musician in order to dissect a band or artist that you love. live music, IMO, is about sharing a connection with your audience through your music. otherwise, BP wouldn't have so many non-musician fans like you. and like it or not, every fan will feel SOMETHING from a performance. again, i loved the energy, but listening back to this via headphones, the playing takes a tiny bit away from that. i have a right to feel as well. if you want to argue from a musical standpoint, post some videos of yourself playing. i'd imagine that a 14-year-old boy who wants to argue from a musician's standpoint would back himself up with evidence, or at least debate me from a musical standpoint. i don't know why you keep up with this hero worship, because it's just making you diss people directly instead of explaining your stance. look, i'd love to have a discussion with you but at least pretend you know something. And if no one cares, why are you personally offended?
Goddamnit, for once can they please slow down? The one time I saw them, and every live video I see of them, they rush it. And it would be great if they could pull it off, but it makes it harder for them to do it right when going at such a breakneck speed.
I think it's mostly that Matt started them off a little fast, and they're already tired here. On the other hand, sitting a watching a screen will present a MUUUUUUUCH different experience than standing/swaying/moshing in a large pit of sweaty people while this music is playing. Bloc Party's the business for sure, and in person it'd probably blow your and my mind, but you're right, this isn't the most en pointe performance ever
and that is really sad aswell, because a crappy band can sound good in the studio but a good band sounds good live.. nofx, foo fighters and muse to name but a few.
Sometimes they are, proper bands have off days, these guys are legitimately a band of humans, humans make mistakes. If you were there, you'd still be amazed, but the sound quality of this video and the guy who recorded it kind of makes it dull. I do agree that they're a bit out of time at parts and flat, but like I said, off days.
Loads of raw energy but lacks precision. Russel is all over the place, slightly misplaying his notes regularly, and with a sound as bright as a Telecaster's, it's really audible. Props to them, playing in front of that many people is exhilarating so of course it's not studio perfect, but they could maybe slow it down a little and strike the perfect balance between energy and efficiency
Bro they are ripping this let the greats be greats they all did well you are hearing this on RUclips not in person so know for sure that they did they best enjoy love
im said to have to agree, this sounds like a band of 12 year olds or something.. what a dissapointment.. they're not even punk, its just bad.. gargh my favourite band not anymore.
Amazing crowd, a crowd that actually knows the bands songs
UK crowds
silent alarm went platinum in the uk of course they know the songs
Leeds is even better!
I love how fast they play this live. Its already mental!
always sloppy live.Great band still.
That is what a crowd is supposed to look like, love it, this song saved my life many times! ♥♥♥

Bloc's ~Party's drummer is fucken savage
I LOVE THIS
Matt killing it!
they are not even punk. they are indie. and this is amazing !!!

Bloc Party and "coming next: Enter Shikari" damn I miss the 2000s
Even when the feed drops out a few minutes in this is still fkng great
2:40.......
esos si son bloc party!
stop dissing this performance its great because of how messy it sounds its raw and energetic not everything needs to be like the studio version
There's a difference between it sounding different to a studio version and it just being played poorly, they're all out of time with each other, playing wrong notes etc
+Alfie haigh theyre sloppy but i like that and they certainly aint playing wrong notes its all in tune. just not always in time
