    And all of a sudden the Evo II gets all woozy when it starts tracking!

    Great test! Nice to see the improvements. Only item that I noticed was that the obstacle avoidance in follow mode (dynamic track) is very abrupt and not cinematic looking. That is an easy fix for Autel to tweak over the coming months.

    This is the best demonstration of EVO 2 obstacle avoidance that I have seen so far. This clearly has more active sensors than Mavic series in all flying modes. The more I see of this orange drone the more I am impressed

    Very impressive! Those sensors are a lot better than the ones on my Mavic 2 Pro. The more I see of this machine, the more I wish I had one. BUT my budget just won't allow for another drone right now.

    This is outstanding. Big, robust, 8k, longer flight time, 360 degree obstical avoidance that works in every mode, especially in waypoint mode. This will be my next drone purchase as, sadly, I am droneless at present.

    Exactly the vid I wanted to see right now, thanks! Next time though, when you have the EVOII near a chain link fence I'd love to see you check it more specifically against the chain link, and specifically not the poles that hold the chain link. It would be uberinformative to see you fly it toward the center of the chain-linked square farthest away from the fence poles to see how well it specifically avoids the actual chain link. Next test would be chicken wire... barbed wire... :D

    • @miquaelmiquael1079
      @miquaelmiquael1079 5 лет назад +1

      @@ciaranh5907 I don't think that's true sir. I have been flying drones for years and have accidentally hit lines on more than a few occasions. They're not always visible on your monitor - sometimes not until it's too late. No one fly's into them On Purpose. One of the main challenges of drones equipped with APAS and obstacle avoidance sensors, is it's effectiveness with detecting smaller tree branches and specifically Power Lines - In fact, depending on where you live and fly, it's nearly Impossible NOT to have to watch out for them. I fly the Skydio 2, Mavic 2 Pro Zoom, the Mavic Air and the Phantom 4 Pro (which all have avoidance systems). I was just wondering how the new EVO 2 compared to these other drones when it came to avoiding what Most drone pilots have always made adjustments for. But there is no current ordnance pertaining to Flying Near Power Lines. Truth is; most pilots go through great lengths to Avoid Them At All Cost, Anyway - So why would there be a law requiring drone pilots to avoid something that we avoid any way? And finally, here is a link from a DJI message board addressing safety, when flying near them.
      forum.dji.com/thread-119590-1-1.html
      feel free to Google it - or just enter "drone vs power lines"" here on RUclips - to see why I asked about the EVO 2's ability to detect them in the first place.

    • @ciaranh5907
      @ciaranh5907 5 лет назад

      @@miquaelmiquael1079 CAA have prepared some important safety tips for flying drones:
      1. Always keep your drone in sight so that you can see and avoid things while flying.
      2. Look out for electricity substations and overhead power lines. Make sure you always fly more than 50 metres from them, as well as from people and properties.

    • @miquaelmiquael1079
      @miquaelmiquael1079 5 лет назад

      @@ciaranh5907 I get that sir - and I whole-heartily agree.. In a perfect world. I know that we're SUPPOSED to keep our drones within Line Of Sight - but we all prefer the drones with the greatest range. We use features like Way-points, Asteroid, Orbit and Boomerang - where we clearly have less control over the paths our drones will cover - Not all the time - but MOST of the time. And most us have flown further than L.O.S. The average pilot can't see an object the size of a Mavic if it's a half mile away (and it's range is much greater than that), still; most pilots will exploit that range at one time or another. We're also not speaking of Power Stations. We're talking about Power Lines - which are also very hard to see from even a modest distances. They're sometimes just unavoidable - which is why we appreciate Obstacle Avoidance to begin with. I was just disputing your post that stated "You are not allowed to fly anywhere near power lines." "Not Allowed.." is simply not true. That's like saying there's a Law that says: "You're Not Allowed to Fly your drone too close to a Raging Fire.." The FCC wouldn't need to create that ordnance, because there wouldn't be enough pilots doing it. We pay way too much for our drones to intentionally risk Melting them from the heat - or flying them into Power Lines.

    at 8:54 I saw some Chinese character messages on the phone, is that supposed to be or there's a language setting in the apps? the only drawback with this drone, EVO 2 Pro (6K) with 20MP still pictures with aperture f/2.8-11 while EVO 2 (8K) with 48MP still image which is a killer for a drone, but it's fixed aperture of f/1.8! shooting in a broad daylight with f/1.8 will boost your shutter speed high even more than what the sensor can handle. Is there an available lens filter for EVO 2? It seems we can't attach filter the lens design. If EVO2 (8K) with variable aperture, I will pre-order now! :)

    For all you guys who are new to Autel and are thinking about how much this could be improved with software updates. I'm an Evo owner and the updates we've been clamoring for for over a year still haven't come to fruition, even though some of them would be VERY easy to implement.
    Autel is pretty bad about delivering substantial updates, even though we do get updates every few months.
    That said, I think i'm going to buy the Evo 2, just wanted to set some expectations.

    Many people are complaining about the looks of the Evo II. Some say it looks like a Black and Decker power tool, others like it is construction equipment. For me it is function over form. Id rather have all those options and have it preform over it looking good. After all, when looking through the Camera or reviewing the footage, you can't see the drone. so who cares what it looks like. How about the DJI phantom? it is not sleek or good looking, but it does preform. This drone by far out preforms them all. It combines the Sky Duo 2, the Phantom and the Mavic 2 pro all in one great flying machine, then turns around and improves on that combo! overall, i'm in love with the Evo II. Wish I could afford it. I'll just have to stick to my Mavic Mini

      Yeah, I think the 8K video this thing records looks infinitely better than the 8K video from a Mavic.

      @@chuckfox5496 well considering the Mavic is NOT 8K moron of course it does. But then again I doubt you have an 8000 dollar Samsung TV to even be able to see the video from it. So basically you are a liar.

      Autel is offering up newer and significantly better technology at a price pricepoint equal to the pricepoint of DJIs old inferior technology. That's incredibly appealing and a real dillema for DJI to overcome I would think. Lookin forward to seeing how this will play out!
