    Think u were using it but butcher paper is def tougher and thicker rather than masking paper for painting. I can envision a few ways to fix this problem but I have found that using pelletized litter allows a lot longer time between tray changes as they absorb so much and smell is lower. I think i would modify trays and then get double the trays(only bec paper can get expensive) so one set with two big tubs or plastic totes outside. Grab all the trays on a rolling cart and stack and then dump in hot soapy water w little bleach and just allow to soak. Then put new trays in. Rotate them out and then have a perm setup for scrubbing and soaking. If u soak overnight they will be mostly clean wo any real scrubbing. Would use a hi pressure sprayer attachment on hose or sink faucet and rinse off and store until next chnage out.

    The trays are great, I just use catalogues that come in the mail, or news paper, just replace when necessary.... easy and cheap 👍

    I don't have the trays under my cages anymore, I took the trays out for this very reason. So I came up with an idea that works AWESOME!!!... I buy dog pee pads in bulk so it doesn't cost as much and I put them under the cages, (similar to what you are doing with the brown paper). It works like a charm!

    my small home setup is paper bottom, and nets around the cages because i don't have too too many cages. (15 total.) keeps the seed mess down, and about 8 of the cages are for parrots on pellets. cleaning is way faster with just the paper bottoms as well. but mine also live in my house and i'd go crazy stepping in seed every day. 😂

    I discovered you and think you are wonderful. You speak both English and Spanish and you are very detailed. I don't think I have looked at All your videos but enough to know you are one of my go to person. You are very knowledgeable and boy do you have a lot of birds. I don't have that much space. My concern is that I have a gouldian pair that will incubate but will not feed. This year I took 3 fertile eggs and placed under YOUNG society pair only 4 months old. Do you think new born chick's have a chance? Thank you for any advice or in put sincerely Desperately seeking bird mom from upstate New York

    You still have a lot of work. You are never taking a vacation. Reason why I sold all my gouldians too much work and they were paying $20 a bird when I use to sell them for $75 each and up back in 2002-2007. It is a nice hobby that will keep you busy and out of trouble. I use to produce 1000 gouldians every season. I wasn't playing around.

    Paper roll wont keep the seed hulls off the floor. You need to block the sides to keep the hulls from being scattered out of the cages..
    It should work for the droppings though. Good luck!

      @Thorn Hedge yea even the original bottom trays themselves cant even keep the seeds contained. I think they sell these small nets tgat you can wrap around the bottom of the cage to keep the seeds contained but i have way to many cages to worry about that. I rather just sweep the floors twice a day. Im just happy to be able to save some time now on weekends and pull the paper roll rather than clean each tray

      You're right about the trays. they are useless for keeping hulls in.
      I had the same problem for years. The nets don't stop it completely either. The only real solution is the sweeping up, or glass housing. Nice set up you have. Cheers!

      @@paradiseaviary u know what worked for me... reducing waste/cleaning... i stole that idea from echo's aviary. I put down turf on the bottom of the cage, and swap it with fresh turf every few days or so... also i added clear liner/skirt on the bottom of the cage, to contain all the seed spills. about 80%-90% of the seeds stay in the cage :D

    • @paradiseaviary
      @paradiseaviary  Год назад +1

      Ive thought about that also I love that fake turf and gives some color to the cage but man I have 200 cages I would need atleast 400 of these just to swap them out every week and keep it clean plus can you imagine the time it woupd take to manually clean 200 turf carpets 😬. Personally i fomt like the look of the paper under the cage its kinda darkened the room a bit because of the color but im willing to do anything to reduce the time I spend cleaning.
