I JUST found one of these on my porch at the end of October! She was about to lay her eggs so I put her on a plant and brought her in my house. Haven't seen her since, but I hope she and her babies are around and well ❤
Hi Rus, I’m setting up a 6qt ivory millipede breeding colony, and I’m curious to know what brands of organic compost you use? I’m just more concerned over composts that have manure in them if that’s safe for millipedes, and I wanted your take on what’s best.
These days, I avoid using compost-based substrates for millipedes…though I did have some success in the past with those, it is better to get a more flake soil/white-rot wood based substrate for most millipedes.
@@Aquarimax There has been way too much fuss made about Steatoda sp. in the UK. They've had a population increase, quite dramatic where I used to live in central England. I had a beautiful female nobilis in a window frame I had to capture, as I worried the new flat owners would kill her.

@@KatieDeGo I hope so too!
Very Nice Spider!
@@frankdughtank8327 thank you Frank!
learned about these after I found one in my backyard! Neat to hear they live so long.
Very cool to see the feeding! Love it!
Thank you! I was glad to catch that.
Very fascinating! You should get a velvet spider or a tarantula
Now that you mention it: ruclips.net/video/wJcOQ0NPSu8/видео.htmlsi=GJ_rnKL1jAf4XDnf

@@aasdddddfasdf Thank you!!
Looks like Steatoda borealis. Not real common in Utah. Mostly see Steatoda triangulosa and occasionally Steatoda grossa.
@@ssssnakeluvr I have definitely seen a LOT of S. triangulosa here, hoping for an S. grossa someday, or maybe I’ll order one 😁👍

How much do they live?
I assume the same as a black widow 🤔 maybe up to a year
I've had mine for a year, she's still kicking
I’ve had mine around 3 years!

I have these
Just loose in my room they won’t leave
That is where I found this one…on the staircase.
Ah, the European equivalent to the brown recluse myth.
Are these thought to be medically significant in Europe?
@ nope!! Just bad wound hygiene and the name “widow” is great for fearmongering
@@thephasmidpharm459 Ah, I see .
