- Rub Rails are EXPENSIVE and if you're looking for a Carolina Skiff J Series, you'll find only find one place that has them. I came up with a cheaper solution and it works! Looks Great! Give it a view and see the simple solution I came up with.

I'm remodeling a 2001 J 16 and need a rub rail. Do you mind sharing where you purchased it? I'd also like to know what you used to raise your cooler and brace your front deck. Thanks!
Absolutely! I ordered the rub rail off of eBay. To raise my deck, I built what I call triangle trusses. Not exactly perfect but after you fiberglass it’s in, super sturdy. I raised the cooler with a pressure treated 2x4, glued in with 5200 and caulked to keep water from getting under them. I tried to not drill any holes to the deck
Would the old town topwater pdl 106 be worth buying used for $1500? It's been used for a year and it's in pretty good shape. It doesn't have much for extras. I've seen you've experience with that kayak in recent videos.

If your talking about the black rubber rub rail, Carolina Skiff was the only place that had them

Always Great to save money Ron....don't even get me started on Nc trailer policies...my Gheenoe trailer had no title what a headache...had to rebuild the daggum thing so much rust from beach..by time time i rebuilt tongue bunks paid a bond on it and got numbers for it about 350 dollars..but now i can say it was worth it...but Nc does suck...lol
