I asked my family to have this played when they carry my body out of the church following my funeral. I want people to feel joy when I have entered the Kingdom of God!
¡Muy buena elección! Dejarás tu cuerpo, e ingresarás al reino de los cielos entre esta hermosa melodía. ¡Felicitaciones! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
today is Jan 5, 2024. I am listening now to your performance. My deepest gratitude.
This is the performance of the Gloria I listen to over and over on RUclips.
Thank you UNT and RUclips for presenting superb musical interludes that I as an impoverished pensioner, would never otherwise afford to hear. It lifts my spirits.
Happy that we could do that!
We are glad to be in a position to share the music created by our students to a global audience at not cost to the viewer/listener.
The memories this brings back to me, now in my older years. We sang this my freshman year in college. A few years later, i was a grad student where you are now, then called North Texas State University. Oh, to dial back the clock about 50 years.
Whenever I see Vivaldi, I want to click on it. Fine performance, and as a 61 yr old man in this day in age, it's very refreshing to see a group of fine looking youth.
An addendum to my first comment: this proves, beyond any doubt, that music is the universal language. No one could, in my opinion, sing a work like this and stay enemies with other singers. It recalls the words of that commercial so popular in the late
'60's, "I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony....it's the real thing. "
I sang this back in 1985, or 1986, my Junior year of High School!
Now, I am 51, and I still remember how to sing it!
Amen!
Ascoltare Vivaldi, magistralmente eseguito da giovani Nord Americani e una grande emozione per un Italiano!!!
Anche noi in Brasile
I come back to this wonderful video!
My favorite of the glorias. Played it over over and over again when my son was born
This is probably the first *serious* performance of this work that I've seen on RUclips. Every high school "top choir" and collegiate chorial union performs this, so I was expecting some "ok" background music while I work. But before I went to a different window, I saw some period instruments. Then I heard musical (not just technical) and *meaningful* use of dynamics. And I heard an engaged chorus in which each part was well-represented, functioned independently, and worked seamlessly. And the soloists held their own. I'm thoroughly impressed! Well done to all musicians and sound/video technicians involved in this production.
Tx for your insights. I agree. Often disappointing performances but this one is very committed to the spirit of this great opus by the legendary Vivaldi; always complex, always astonishing these centuries later, & forever, I guess. That’s true immortality isn’t it? Look! You can see Vivaldi manifest in the performers as they play & sing. How extraordinary! I tried 4 before landing on this one. I suppose I’m a bit Eurocentric so tend to listen to the Germans, Italians, Dutch, Czech and so forth. But this one gets downloaded. ❤
Beautifully said as well as perfectly orchestrated!
It’s good to see college “kids?” doing something this diificult with their time and talent. The practice time that each of these students must commit to is an exceptional discipline.
They are both inspired and inspiring.
I currently attend UNT as a music major. There are whole degree paths for music of this time period. Literally a classroom which says "Early Music" and across the hallway, a recital space with a full size organ. Next door is the harpsichord room (I think one of the only schools in the USA that features harpsichord as a main concentration). This concert hall seen in the video also has a full pipe organ built into the walls. The students here are the real deal, there are some serious talents.
Vivaldi Fans:
Let us do THREE MILLION views! Fantastic Performance!
UPDATE: This video has reached THREE MILLION views! Congratulations UNT!
This video. Is currently at 2.9 MILLION views and will soon reach THREE MILLION.
One of the best Glorias I've heard. Richard is a fabulous conductor.
Glorious music, thank you, Vivaldi.
Thank you to the School of Music at North Texas State, Denton who still inculcates such beauty in the souls of young people. Bravo!
Many compliments from Antonio Vivaldi homeland
Vivaldi siempre maravilloso, vibrante, tenue, melancólico, diferente, pero siempre cercano al corazón con su inigualable música.

Vivaldi che grande musica ci lasciasti. Immortale tra i geni musicali.
It warms my heart to hear this wonderful music being played by young people.
Love that mezzo soloist (in Domine Deus)! What a rich, warm, yet clear voice!
A wonderful reminder of glorious choral music which we have so missed during lockdown.
The best work of the best composer of all time.
Vivaldi outdid himself in this piece. And this performance is spectacular and brilliant. The soloists sang so beautifully I could hardly stand it. Definitely the best performance of this marvellous piece I've ever heard. Bravo!
Listen to Juditha Triumphants , Vivaldi had so much to offer , sadly not all his compositions are found yet
Most beautiful rendition of "Gloria"❤👌
Forever and ever I watch this wonderful video! Thank you!
When I hear that song I feel that I'm in heaven listening to the angels sing. Just love it
Great interpretation. The soloists are amazingly talented! LOVE the alto at 17:07!
my favorite Gloria online
we did this in high school with an 80 voice choir---made your whole body vibrate!--shout out to miss davis for teaching us so well!
This is the best rendition of Vivaldi’s Gloria I have ever heard! Bravo! Magnificent!

Love that mezzo soloist! What a rich, warm, yet clear voice!
Absolutely beautiful! The Gloria is such an amazing prayer, and together with this musical setting by Vivaldi, two great things are brought together!
Such a truly uplifting piece of music and beautifully performed the University of North Texas College of Music - Glorious.
We attempted this in High school, it still brings tears to my eyes.

So Wonderful tears ran down my cheeks...Blessings!!
Bravo not only to the conductor and musicians, but to the audio/video team as well. They did an excellent job and truly have allowed the music to shine through, with nice balance and tone. Great performance with great recording skills.
You put into words exactly what I was thinking. Many sound engineers are clueless as to how to record a well-blended choir such as this one. But this team truly got is right.
Absolutely
My Son is a very experienced sound recording engineer/producer,and has recorded many projects such as this,it takes a lot of skill to capture a balance of various sounds and timbres in a cathedral setting, taking natural accoustics into account, and I am pleased that the engineering team have been given credit here, by Brad Zabelski, most often the audio is criticised by unqualified know-alls!
This performance is worthy of the skills of all concerned in the making of the project!
Cheers Brad, and those who have replied in a very sensible and positive manner!
@@highpitwilma I agree!
O
Bravissimi tutti! Stupenda esecuzione e interpretazione! Complimenti!
The UNT School of Music is ranked second in the nation after Juilliard. This is a good example of why!

Vivaldi was the Master !
With young singers and musicians like these there is a fine future ahead. A very beautiful rendition of a Vivaldi that is not that easy to perform: mes compliments !
Many of these singers are now directors of choral activities at universities in every corner of the nation. :)

Music transcends language.
Nothing captures my spirit like beautiful, rich harmony. Breathtaking; at times haunting. My gratitude for posting this.
This concert came up on the YT algorithm, so I put it on as background music while I worked at my desk at home. It wasn't until Domine Deus that I stopped everything as the contralto caught my attention! Whoever time stamped this done me a favour as I kept playing it over and over!! She was for me the stand out from this performance! 💐 Where is she now? Has she progressed? I imagined her and Julia Lezhneva doing Handels chamber duets! Such a treat!! 😊 Whoever uploaded this, thanks for the rare treat! 🙇♂️
Viva Vivaldi! Wonderful performance! Thanks for sharing! ❤️🎼🎵👏🇮🇪☘️
Vivaldi holding true to his girls' orphanage roots--the soloists are so exquisite in voice, tone, and grace! Stunning.
Great performances by the conductor and musicians! Thanks for sharing!
The Red Priest's Gloria presented by the Big Green's ensemble -
Absolutely Glorious!!!
Heavenly excellence! Thank you so much for Gloria in Excelsis Deo and for you all and for your musical gift!
That was lovely. Thank you for sharing this with people in need of beauty and cooperation!
The ending of Et in Terra pax is some of the most beautiful harmonies I've ever heard.
Agreed. I first loved the opening, but Et in Terra Pax is much more complex, subtle and beautiful.
The depth of Gloria is immeasurable, and unimaginable
Having viewed and listened to all the presentation of Vivaldi's Gloria that I have been able to find, I must say that this, in my humble opinion, is by far the best performance. I love it, and thank the performers profusely.
What a WONDERFUL performance! I've only listened to the first 2 movements so far, but the choir can be heard clearly above the orchestra. Everyone knows their music and is together, including orchestra and choir, and you can hear the passion as expressed by changes in dynamics by the choral singers. I sing with a choir, and I can imagine the tremendous amount of preparation which went into this great performance.
Not very much, because its a simple piece of music and quiet easy to sing for such a choir...
@AdonisFridplin: "Simple piece of music" you say. And how many times professional orchestras butcher a "simple piece of music", rendering it blah and without dynamic variations. Give credit to the conductor. And the female soloist is excellent, as are her smooth trills--I've heard so-called professionals deliver ghastly trills. The choir is great, too--none ofcthe voice parts overpower each other nor does any individual voice stick out. The orchestra is excellent, too.
Everybody is just a kid yet they all outshine many so-called "pros". I wish them all great, longlasting careers in music should they wish to make music their lives.
At the very least I hope none of them ever stop playing for their enjoyment and continue to jam with other musicians and maybe participate in a concert from time to time.
Great to hear a young choir doing a magnificent presentation of such a wonderful piece of music!
I have had the joy of choral singing since Grammar school and on tours to five different countries. This piece is always a favorite.
@jameshama02gmail13 refresh my memory which choir did we sing in what year? So good to hear from you.
Most beautiful representation of the essence of human soul! spetacular performance! Bravo! Congratulations!
I watched my 24 year old perform it as a senior in High school 7 years ago (violin), and my youngest perform it last night (soprano)....Brings a tear to my eye every time I listen to this. What a maestro Vivaldi was.
I performed it as a Junior in High School , don't know, seems like we took it a little slower, but that was a long time ago.
Brilliant !!! Thank you !!!
Congratulations to your family of musicians! Do you sing?
@@conniepruitt3086 Yeah, it was quite spirited.

Para los que conocemos los conciertos para violin del Prete Rosso, "las cuatro estaciones", y poco más, es un regalo para los oidos y el alma encontrar una grabación como esta. Magnifica interpretación. Gracias. Muchas Gracias.
For those of us who know Prete Rosso's violin concerts, "the four seasons", and little else, it is a gift for the ears and the soul to find a recording like this. Magnificent interpretation Thank you. Thank you so much.

Bravo! Singers and Orchestra...revived my memories of singing this in my college chorus. Wonderful!
Sublime !! One of the best version in RUclips. Congradualtions UNT.
Our community choir performed this a long time ago at Christmas time. Haven't heard it in AGES. It's cool to hear it again.
Thank you. Absolutely beautiful.
From the composer to the conductor to the musicians to the audio-visual team to the printers that printed the sheet music - proves there is God.
All in all completely amazing. Wonderful.
Dr. Sparks was my professor when I studied at UNT. He is one of the leading choral conductors in the states.
Thank you, Caleb! hope you are well!
This is the best Vivaldi's Gloria college american choir and orchestra ensemble performance I ever heard in You Toube. Sound recording superb too! Magnifique!
Perfect pace.not too fast nor too slow.having the perfect pace brings out the dramatic mood vivaldi is trying to capture and the imense outerwordly beauty of this piece by vivaldi.exceptionally beautiful.
I don't know why other renditions are done so fast. I know it's marked allegro, but it sounds so much better at around 120-125 bpm.
Excellent, fast enough with a very spiritual interpretation. Thanks
Merci Jean Françis pour le partage
Vivaldi é o maior compositor de todos os tempos; mestre e professor do Bach (organista e copista alemão) e de muitos outros compositores...Vivaldi is the greatest composer of all time; master and professor of Bach (German organist and copyist) and many other composers

Thank you Thank you Thank you University of North Texas College of Music, for this precious gift!
Listening to this from South Africa 🇿🇦. Absolutely beautiful and awe inspiring, warms the heart and spirit in a world gone mad.....Covid 19 , lockdowns and so much more. Thank the Lord for taking my mind off all the strife and sadness.
Eine wunderschöne Musik zum genießen !!
Genuss pur !!
Esta lindíssima obra do grande Mestre Vivaldi cura o corpo e a alma. Música divina.
Восхитительно , благодарю за удовольствие , у вас ,я считаю , самое лучшее ,чувственное ,душевное и прекрасное исполнение ! И оркестр --- высший пилотаж !
A wonderful polished performance given on a high pofessional level by COLLEGE STUDENTS in Denton Texas. If this can happen in the United States today, we are not in NEARLY as bad shape as too many would have us believe. The conductor, Richard Sparks, deserves a great deal of credit, for he has taught the young choristers to sing not only with accuracy and vigorous enthusiasm, but also with great sensitivity to the MEANING of the text.As for the SOLOISTS, we could never hope to hear anyone better equipped to "deliver the goods" than these remarkably gifted, well-trained, BEAUTIFUL young women.
H_A_P_P_Y ... N_E_W_ ... y_E_A_R_!
Kudos for the orchestra, the choirs, and especially the conductor who brought them together. This is an excellent performance of Vivaldi's Gloria. Congratulations to all!!!!!
I have heard and seen many performances of Gloria. But this one is by far the best Congratulations from The Netherlands
Lovely to hear from you. Wish we were still in the union with you enjoying this incredible music .
