    I feel like they could make a pretty good game out of this similar to Alien: Isolation.

      Yeah like the AI is advanced so that you don't know who is infected and they can turn randomly even in a cutscene or conversation (if it is made by telltale)

      They made a game in like 2002 or something to the thing. It had a pretty advanced system, like if your men didn't trust you you had to take a blood test, and if they got too scared of the situation they'd go crazy and commit suicide.

    I really love this Prequel Version. I still really love the Original Version, But this one is awesome.
    It’s obviously the Original Theme, but it’s been compressed into a lower tone and added these unsettling sounds that you can barely identify. It really makes it eerie.
    It feels like we went back to 1982.
    I really love this movie. Both of the movies.

    We need another Thing game one that doesn't evolve fixing control panels. And stupid AI that, get's killed and doesn't act like sheep needed to be hoarded around the outpost. A FPS horror game like DOOM 3 without guns. only flammable weapons that, can kill/hurt "The Thing" like for example molotov cocktail's or a flare gun. plus reasonable, and scary looking ambitious and atmosphere. A feeling of unpleasant environment and paranoia every minute of the game.
    That is The Thing game we really, need.

    • @Peusterokos1
      @Peusterokos1 8 лет назад +7

      The Thing doesn't need a video game, in my opinion. it would be too hard to make a balance between good game play and good story. The actual game sucked in both aspects, because it tried telling a overly complicated story while in a setting that barely leaves any place to actually be indoors (except how the military somehow managed to build a mega base on Antarctica in what could of been weeks, smh)
      Although, a much more futuristic, Sci-fi touch to it could work, like something that crosses Dead Space, Alien Isolation or System Shock 2 in a planet exploration themed story. Like that, it gives a good setting to start breathing in some life in the game.

      it would be better as a pc multiplayer game. having players would be better than ai. if a player as the thing kills another player, he gets access to his recorded communication with other players and he can try to immitate them. also players would get paranoid of each other, pointing fingers and potentially killing human players.

    • @nathanhale4430
      @nathanhale4430 5 лет назад +3

      @Remove Degenerates i havent played that, but i had a conversation a month ago with someone about how the game would work.
      "i thought it through, that would work but it would be better to make dealing with the thing a secondary objective because each game would probably devolve into “everyone at the centre of the map for blood testing, if your not there then you must be the thing”. have 3 teams representing different governments pitted against eachother to transfer fission bombs which have to be dis-armed by an opposing team, a team gets double xp for taking an other teams bomb and keeping your own. if this isnt done in a set amount of time, the military’s assume the transfer has failed and bombard the area to destroy all evidence. the thing doesnt need to kill everyone to win, it just needs to reach civilisation, so if it only imitated one person and was freindly the rest of the game, and got on the escape helicopter then everyone in the game would lose, even if they stole both bombs from the other teams. on the other hand 3 teams of 12, could lead to some giant forms of the thing. players would be discoraged to just kill eachother because it would leave bodys for the thing, and if the military notice conflict then the timer will shorten. also some players can be infected without knowing it, as a dead player coming back as the thing doesnt need to instantly take control, like norris wasn’t aware he was infected."
      i also got the idea of cold affecting the thing more than the humans, so it would be forced to get close with the human players so it can use the vehicles to get to the other bases as it would freeze going on foot. looking at the town of salem game, it would be a cool idea to make it that assimilating players in certain roles gets the thing those skills, like flying the helicopter after imitating the pilot. it would be an fps like arma.

      the necromorphs would probably be absorbed into it, and then the Marker would have to resort to mentally aiding humans to destroy it as a means to defend itself. Is what I'd assume at least. The Marker would show to the humans who's infected and who's not. That's actually a pretty cool concept, this should happen.

      @monononny3974 10 лет назад +2

      Psylack actually, it was vica versa. The marker controlled the hive mind and the brethren moons, at least according to deadspace wiki. And to answer your question, no not really because The Thing isn't technically a sentient being, and the marker signal only effects those with a mind.

    • @Psylack
      @Psylack 10 лет назад +1

      Mono Nonny Ohh.... It kind of seems like you're assuming too much about the Thing. It takes over and can fully control Sapient minds. I don't think it's unreasonable to assume there may be more going on with the Thing that we don't fully understand even though it is basically a crazy super virus. They don't really ever explain the Thing's origin, which by the way is a good thing. I'm not saying you're wrong, just thinking. It is a pretty cool idea. Having the humans and Brethren moons work together. I do have another question though. Are the Moon things sapient? Was what the moons wanted ever explained? I can't remember. It feels like the Moons and the Thing want the same thing, but just have a different way of doing it. Taking over organic life forms and shit.

    The Thing's prequel, is pretty ok.
    The things that really pissed me off, was that number one. It just felt like remake.
    Number 2, This film's version of the thing wasn't even attempting to be stealthy. It just bum rushed everyone whenever it got the chance.
    Number 3, TOO MUCH FUCKING CGI, I just fucking hate the fact that ADI studios made these wonderful animatronics only to have the studio gloss it over with fucking CGI. I DON'T WANNA FUCKING WATCH A VIDEO GAME, I WANNA WATCH A MOVIE.
    Other than that, it was pretty good. I think the casting was done pretty ok. But with that being said and done.
    This movie is much like The Thing it's just an imitation, It'll never be Carpenter's masterpiece.

      +Dat Doom Guy Agree mate, I posted something similar on a vid of Juliette's transformation scene. I liked the effort with the sets and atmosphere, but they dumbed 'The Thing' down into a generic jump-scare monster that was as thick as pig-5hit.
      The coat of shiny CGI paint was a real downer too; they didn't have the budget for good CGI so they plastered it with barely average CGI.

      +Retro Brothers You could argue on a smarter note that it was intentional. This is a prequel so the this is the thing's first contact with humans. It decided bum rushing would be a solution, but by the time it got to the American outpost it had learned not to openly attack, but rather sneak and outsmart it's prey.

      +Ciaran Parker You could argue that, but in the first instance it shows intelligence by isolating Kate from the rest of group with mind-games and mis-direction. So it displays a lot of intelligence, then turns into a mindless and stupid jump-scare monster.

    @snake2006 Actually, lack of character development was a complaint leveled against Carpenter's film too. Most character development scenes from the script were cut by Carpenter, and for most people it takes numerous viewings to clearly figure out who is who and what exactly is going on, and only a few characters stand out on first viewing. You could argue that the lack of character development (other than small touches), and subsequent confusion, is intentional, but it IS there.

    TBH, it may be more that the 2011 THING designs were a bit too "cool". they felt like Deadspace monster rather than an ever-changing amorphous mass of genetic blarg. I love that the original one never tried to do the "cool monster" thing until the end, & even then it felt more random.
    oh D9 is District 9. if you like CG, that is like, spot-on. or as close as ive seen.

    • @LUCKO2022

      The Thing 2011 was terrible. It doesn't match up perfectly to Carpenter's movie. If you have seen the 82 film as many times as I have, you would notice every mistake they made, and they are huge glaring mistakes such as not having the kerosene cans next to split face body. Split face being 2 people instead of just one (when Blair does the autopsy he only sees 1 set of internal organs NOT 2).
      Colins neck wound is not as deep as the 82 film and only 1 of his wrists are cut instead of both.
      They got the final 2 Norwegians wrong as well. The pilot is the one who is shot by Gary NOT LARS, yet he doesn't come into the movie until the end, so now it makes no sense how he would know about the dog not being real and freak out the way he did.
      I can go on for a long time with EVERY mistake that the 2011 prequel made. It was a crappy job period and never should have happened if they weren't going to do it properly.

      Let me fix that for your:
      The Thing 1951: Great sci-fi/horror movie for its time
      The Thing 1982: Masterpiece
      The Thing 2011: Piece of shit

      snake2006 can't hate the new movie that much at least they went the extra mile and had the monsters physically made other the cg like most these lame knock offs now

      But they didn't use the physical monsters in the finished movie. Universal made them redo it all with CGI.

      snake2006 Well then, screw Universal, this movie would have been great if it was practical effects, why did they make them redo it? Also, I still love Jurassic Park and the Universal movies, I am just mad at them.

    My all time favorite horror flick (1982) the thing and this prequel was good too. This song is soooooo creepy. I think Ennio Moriconne wrote it. The concept of a monster being something at the cellular level, consuming and changing you is more scary than a giant lizard by far!

    i wouldnt be hating on this film..the makers clearly wanted to make a prequel to honor the first movie.. and they did a good job tieing it in with hte first movie..so now they wil either remake the first film or they will skip over to make a sequel. who knows.. i wished they did use more puppet effects instead of cgi but they had they're hands tied .. studios usaly get the final word. perhaps it wil be touched up a bit if theres a directors cut in the future

    I didnt remember the original Thing so I bought it 9 years ago, in my teens, and that movie scarred me for life! Creepiest shXt ever! The 2011 Thing was good, but the CGI just didn't creep me out as much. 1982 Old ass classic animatronics from the dog splitting open, to the blood test by heat had me tense. Minus the end Thing, that made me lol.

  • @OrionGameStudios
    @OrionGameStudios 12 лет назад +1

    i thought the prequel was great, one of the best films i seen for a while. And they actually used a mixture of cgi and animatronics, like splitface wasnt all cgi, the body was animatronic but the legs where cgi. and the woman who turns into the thing was a man in a costume wearing all the things features with animatronic arms and head, but the mouth was cgi. and what do you expect us to to? we have moved on from just practical effects.

    @Darthbrandon Yep. I like all the cast actually, because most are not well known. They're also not teenies, which is always good. I bet if the studios had their way, they'd have cast Kristen Stewart and Zac Effron, lol. Glad to see a good cast. Winstead and Edgerton were tops.
    I love this movie because the cast seemed so respectful to the original. No point in hating on it for something that's the greedy studio's fault. :)

    @Darthbrandon Yep.
    Also, they were going to make the entire thing using ONLY animatronics, but the producers got scared and didn't let them.
    So, people should blame the producers and studio. The actual crew wanted more animatronics. :)

    Why is there always a question of "who would win"...? They're all individual conceptualizations of things we are suppose to fear. There is no quantifiable logic to one being "stronger" than any other movie monsters, and as we all know a movie with this concept was made. Freddie Vs Jason was a train wreck, and neither of those two were very inventive to begin with.

    that's odd since T2's CG fx were subpar compared to it's practical fx. Now Jurassic Park had some really good CG, but CG characters still have some massive limitations. D9 probably had the most convincing CG characters. I'd never devote to one. I'd pic which looked better, and in general well done practical looks better when it comes to characters.
