My first show replacing a drummer for my old death metal band after just a week of rehearsal was opening for 1349 while this guy was drumming for them. Needless to say, intimidating. Great show, great time
Jon Rice has done a ton of stuff after JFAC. He did drums for Umbra Vitae which is like a "super group" with members of converge and the red chord. He filled in on drums for Abigail Williams, 1349, Skeletonwitch, Revocation, Cephalic Carnage and more. Dudes fantastic.
This is literally a ride that I’ve been searching for and Meinl doesn’t have a ride like this in their catalog. The polyphonic ride and serpents ride are the closest things but the poly bell isn’t as cutting and loud as some metal and rock drummers wish and the serpents ride is a hit or miss, it has an incredible bell and incredible stick definition but the heavier weighted ones don’t crash that well. I have a lighter weighted serpents ride and the crash is okay but def not a nice shimmering crash sound. More of a gongy sound. I’ve been saying for years Meinl needs to release a light serpents ride basically, a ride that has amazing crashability but with a nice big cutting bell.
@@reynlord666 looking forward to it! I think uf you started doing some covers you'd get some more traffic. I can hear you mocking me now lmao 🤣 just want to see your page as popping as others, i know you've got it in you.
@@MikeCaputo there isn't lol. Did you notice how you couldn't come up with a coherent rebuttal? It's continuous 32nd notes on the his feet with a 2 and 4 back beat. No feel or groove at all. Don't get me wrong his speed of his feet are impressive as fuck
That's not an inherently bad thing in my opinion. It all depends on what you like. For example, someone who likes Behemoth might listen to something that's ALL groove and be like "there aren't any blast beats in this" and that person is just as correct as you. That being said, I love me some groove.
@@PaulC-Drums I completely understand your point, its all subjective. Personally I love music like death, meshuggah, tesseract and periphery, with that being said this dudes feet are insane. I guess I'm just not a big fan of this genre of music.
Thanks for the kind words bud, and yes I've been keeping busy! Be well
GOAT!!!!!
❤️
He recorded drums for Umbra Vitae, which is like some supergroup with converge, red chord members included. Really good death metal record
Bro I thought I was the only one who knew them it’s so good. Return to Zero is pure madness
I opened for Deicide here in Minneapolis and he was on the road as their touring drummer for a bit as well

You haaaaaave to get Jon Rice on the podcast. MAKE IT HAPPENNNNN
That opening riff is the BM version of Anthrax “Be All End All”
I remember opening for Abigail Williams like 5 years ago and thinking he was one of the best metal drummers I'd ever seen. Incredibly nice too.
I loved him in job for a Cowboy.
If I can do hardcore bell breakdowns and massive crash choruses on the same ride I’ll buy it for sure!!!
Would love to see you do one on Andrew Baird from Fallujah. Dude is unbelievable and it blows my mind he’s not talked about more.
Gotta watch him playing Ov Fire and The Void. That fuckin rips and really shows just how gently Inferno plays.
Release that sick new ride my dude! I'd love to buy that thing.
It's almost mental (in a good way) that he's gone from playing death to acid rock/stoner rock ! Shows how versatile this dude is ! Insane.
Lives in Richmond, VA? Well god dayum. Makes sense though. RVA is a huge metal city.

or if I had just waited another minute and a half into your video, I'd see that you saw all that already, ha.
Rice is filling in for Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, as well as recording drums for Tsjuder.
Jon plays in a band with Jacob Bannon
Dude F Yeah! JRice is the shit! I must have watched his Unfurling A Darkened Gospel video 1000 times.

More Jon Rice!
So your R&D ride is basically a serpents ride? Nice!
I will buy that ride 10000% please. I need a big bell I can crash. RELEASE IT
I would definitely buy that ride 💸💸
Now you need to react to Gene Hoglan with Behemoth next 😂
Wait what?!

Sadly there's no good drum cams, just a 1min clip on his channel and some crowd shots
This vid title is amazing 🔥🤣
Dude!!!! Give me that ride! Tell Meinl to release that shit!!!
I want that Craig Reynolds signature cymbal already!
how about a ultimate Revocation comparison, rüdi, rice and pearson
Release the ride already ❤
Can you react to "Bobby Jarzombek: Peppered Cancer" ?
I've never watched a channel where I have to skip so much of the video Everytime
sounds like a you problem for coming back, idiot
Those are trick pedals
Totally random, but I'd love to see some Viatrophy playthroughs.
Wait, so you’re not also an NFL player?
Bruh, what's up with actual drumming vids? What platform do you post those to? Are you strictly reacts now?
Instagram and twitch. When I play something new that I don’t already have on here it’ll go here too!
