Deep kicks have more attack than shallow kicks, because the air can’t travel fast enough to effect the front head. The deeper you go, the less tone and more click. Deeper kicks “might” project more, but not enough to justify the size. Deep kicks are mostly a visual fad, and a marketing move from the early 2000’s.

Nolly's mix is excellent, shocking I know, but goddamn dude the raw tones sound really great too! It's a testament to how good your own tuning and engineering of the kit is
1) Maple kits are always SO good all around. 2) 24 x 14 is my favorite kick size. So weighty and that extra size just gives it a larger than life timbre and response when you're playing it, but the shallower depth keeps the drum nice and tight, and very focused low-end. Feel like it's about as big as you can go for heavier music before you start sacrificing playability, especially on a lot of one-footed stuff. Awesome stuff craig
You can spray paint the bass heads metal hoop. If you stack an old bass head on top of the one you want to paint, it covers everything perfectly. Chrome, gold, black, green would all work. Black would match an eq3 reso
I'm a Pearl guy but I will never say anything bad about Tama! They're definitely a close second favorite in terms of drum companies. They've got beautiful drums!!

24x14 kick drums are just the fucking best man. i have one on my ludwig, no internal muffling other than a felt strip on each side and it sounds like it'll tear your house down. great choices man. love to see the double floor back too!

I feel like the first mix Nolly did was more of a "song mix ready drum kit", which made it a bit harsh for your videos where the drums are much more upfront than in a regular song. It's much better now !
Congrats! My rear iris puckered a bit looking at the lighting setup over fancy expensive new drum kit tho. Drop $25 and get two Impact sub-ceiling scissor clamps and a couple safety cables. They'll absolutely change your life.

Tama is still the only reason to play drums plain and simple. I have had 3 tama kits and a couple of other brands and I always go back to tama for a reason. They have the best hardware as well.
