the best thing about these shreds vids is when fans come in saying "man that wasnt their best performance but it wa still not too bad!" speaks volumes about the musicians and the fans LOL
@Phil Moufarrege HAHA so true... I've seen that so many times. Especially the Carlos Santana one that the original guy did about a decade ago, and the Metallica "ONE" video.. The "SHREDS" creator from Denmark or whatever, even had an appearance on David Letterman show. AND performed. it was awesome.
I love the way it builds it to a rousing finale, especially when the little toy piano chimes in. Reminds me a lot of my elementary school days and the performances the school orchestra would give for their parents at the end of the school year. Delightfully amateurish.
Its weird how after watching it 100 times you start to get to like the music. Love the vocal delay at 2:02...brilliant...and what happens straight after is pure art.
This is just bloody hilarious! I had to stifle myself from laughing too loudly! The bassoon... the breakdown at the end... the toy piano... I'm going to watch it again!
Inside the Top of the top of the cream !!! Top 3 Best Shredd ever ...This is a rare and precious Pearl to be viewed , shared , copied, cloned to be saved for long , long , long time ....So G O O D ..... Master Level !!!! thanks , genius ! Cure , one of my 5 best bands favorite . ..Super well done guys !!!
It was, 20or 25 years ago. Simon Gallup created great bass lines, too. And Bob is a great composer and guitarist, and writter... Some good bases for make or appreciate music.
I was there that night and they announced afterward that they were all stoned on bath salts. They titled this, "If only tonight we could Play" - Sleep out
always like the cure's music, just discover this awesome instrumental song, amazing how the percussionist can maintain such odd signature rhythmic pattern throughout the whole song, olden day messugah ;)
@MoonchildMindaugas2 The scenes are taken from an unplugged session in "The Cure Play Out" around 1990. Several songs from that session are edited togehther in this clip.
Just ... Masterpiece! The Cure really outdid themselves here. And their hair though - so ahead of their time, I mean that look hasn't even come back yet! Real bohemians they were - you can't fake that. No hipster cajon or ukelele in sight - no sir ... These boys had bongos, toy pianos, and BASSOONS! Go suck on that Tiny Tim!
it's crazy that this seems to be the only video version of this performance (regarding the if only tonight we could sleep portion) that doesnt have a watermark and/or super crap video quality in all of youtube (apparently)... and it's "just" one of the better shreds out there... that makes it fairly unique, but also sad that the non shred version can't be enjoyed as well
This and Pictures of Poo are my favoritest Cure songs! "I've been looking so long at these pictures of poo, that I almost believe that they're real..."
I might be 12 years late but this is one of the best shreds I've seen
As an og shreds enjoyer I am
Having the same experience
Here I am… the third one in a row.. 😄🤘🏼👍🏼
It doesn't matter if we all die...cause at least I'll have this video
Nothing surpasses this shred
hahaha!! I'm in the 12 years late train. but never TOO late. shreds always age like fine wines....
Wow, I love the new Radiohead song!
i was thinking that
XD XD XD XD
Most underrated comment.
Ha!
Really complicated time signature on this one
Every time the bassoon came in with its highly-anticipated, but flat tones, was when I lost it!
This is one of the best shredding videos i've seen.
The Creed shreds one "You shit here with me', and the disturbed one always crack me up so bad
Yes, but I tbh the Beach Boys one is the FUNNIEST! I always laugh til I cry!
Check springsteen if you haven't heard his shreds. Hilarious
@@sirjellybeans1st19 HAHA I checked it out... that IS hilarious!!! cracked up at it... brilliant stuff... Thanks for that man!!
@@Parrish_Muhoberac More than welcome!

Phil Moufarrege 🤣🤣 some idiots dont get it
I'm so into freejazz and shitty musician wankery i like this shit
More so says something about the individual fans who don't get it... because the cure don't sound this bad ever
@@Tigerloco70 I'm one of those idiots, I'm afraid.

The bassoon is just... I laughed too hard.
I never knew the Cure were this good!
I'm crying the bassoon and the crappy drums 😂
What about the tiny little piano?
@@gregorygrenada3531 That too
@@gregorygrenada3531 that bit killed me too
You know, I actually quite enjoyed that. Both as satire and music.
My stomach is aching, talk about lmfao…this is a shred bullseye. Waited 35 years for this..👍
Wow! After all these years, The Cure is still jamming!
1 can of the strongest hairspray per head...DANG!
I love the way it builds it to a rousing finale, especially when the little toy piano chimes in. Reminds me a lot of my elementary school days and the performances the school orchestra would give for their parents at the end of the school year. Delightfully amateurish.
I've never heard the band sound better. I love the Cure, unplugged!
Lol, good one
LOL I DIED AT THE OBOE
It's actually a bassoon
Jonathan King yeah that :D
No, that's actually a Bass Recorder or also called the Bassett
@@resofactor it is the HILARIUMOPHONE. ;)
This may be weird, but I actually like this a lot, it's really discordant and trippy, I think it's genius.
lol
They know it's crap. They made it sound like crap, deliberately.
@Hambonemcgee YES i agree! the Dissonance is just amazing. Reminds me of Mike Patton's creations.
so true
@@zunipus lol what?

That uptempo bit out of nowhere after 2:29 , I’m dying!
Best drum beat in the world!!!!!!!!!
This is just bloody hilarious! I had to stifle myself from laughing too loudly!
The bassoon... the breakdown at the end... the toy piano...
I'm going to watch it again!
That's genius! And so psychedelic cause it's totally random
No, that's willful crap. It's a joke.
The Cure - If Only Tonight We Could Sleep - MTV Unplugged
I knew it was that song lmao
I can honestly say I've never laughed and cried so hard.

This is a better opening than Baba O Riley! What a masterpiece!
Also thanks Grumps for this
So beautiful, I have tears streaming down my face. I could jam to this all day long.
Tears of laughter. Thanks.
OMFG! I was dying with the random woodwinds! hahahaha! The drumming is off the chain!
A Piece Of Shred Art. Makes me cry each time I see it xD Thank you. And I'm almost sure Robert also likes this one.
He actually reposted it in his own channel.
THE best shred video on RUclips!
Αριστούργημα, εξαιρετικό, μεγαλουργημα θαύμα...
The Cure,mark 2;A jazz Odyssey.
That endless percussion,so beautiful that it brought tears to my eyes. Perfection!
Never knew they covered Capt. Beefheart. Spot-on too!
oh god the oboe and toy piano parts truly crack me up!!
They have the best hair styles especially the singer. Should be the next trend.
It was, 20or 25 years ago. Simon Gallup created great bass lines, too. And Bob is a great composer and guitarist, and writter... Some good bases for make or appreciate music.
The pictures are from "The Cure Play Out", a VHS released in 1991.
Yes. It's their "MTV: Unplugged" performance that was included.
This "Shreds" was just hilarious. I needed that, thanks.
done to perfection. wet myself laughing but i've watched it enough times now to actually begin linking the tune that you did! haha
I was there that night and they announced afterward that they were all stoned on bath salts. They titled this,
"If only tonight we could Play" - Sleep out
MY FAVORITE ALL TIME SHRED
The 90's actually felt like this sounds.
I can't stop watching it....and crying laughing!
The baby piano......the bassooon.......the goons....... I"m dyin !!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The first time my friend showed me I didn't clue in for a while that it was a complete joke... Sounds like something the Cure would actually do
Omg no it isn't
I just can’t get enough of these….
Amazing, Im a fan of the Cure and a fan of these.
great bassoon parts!
The bassoon 😂😂 So loud and perfect 😂😂
Hahahaha that tempo change at the end is magnificent!!
I fucking lost it when the guitar kicked in after the second minute HAHAHA! Thanks Game Grumps.

the guy playing the bongos alone made me laugh my ass off....friggn hilarious
Fine work. A masterpiece of comic bassoonery.
I died when the maracas and acoustic went insane lol
Wow! I've never seen this before. Surreal. Love it.
Talented folks who make these
I started cry with laughter at 2.00

Dude on the tiny toy piano killed me!!
Thank you so much, this has made me laugh so many times!
Almost a perfect shred, but would have liked more Robert vocal. Still, hard to argue w/ the bassoon and the toy piano!
hahahaha Only a genius can produce something like this :D
it's killing me lol
The Cure upped their game for this one!
they are shredding hard!
So well done.. love the toy pianno and tom-tom parts!!
Good music for study and relaxation.
Well done guys! Top performance once again!

Never let your genre limit you
Facts
The toy piano gets me! HAHAHAHA
The percussion got me 😂
I can't even tell what song this is supposed to be!
I THINK it might be To Wish for Impossible Things.
Maybe "If Only Tonight We Could Sleep"? And, it looks like that fast part is from "Boys Don't Cry"?
The tambourine kills me 😂
if only they were that good.
Love it!
Thanks 👍😘🇸🇪
Many of the bands I saw in the early 80s sounded very much like this. Not a bad thing at all.
The best I have ever heard from them.
The 80’s were definitely something...
I peed on my face! Hysterical!

Omg the bassoon
I'm pure dead
I wanna this song!
This explains how we feel emotionally talking after listening to Disintegration
13 years late. still worth it.
This might be one of the best Sonic Youth songs ever recorded
I Cry seeing and listening this! It's fucking hilarious!
IT DAH CUUAAH!!!
This is really Art Masterpiece
Captain Beefheart
Not a bad analogy.
the best shred! I'm crying...
Piano start at 2:09_I like it sounds of bicycle bell_
Applause for this unplugged performance_
I died at the applause.
Oh man when he hits that fucking tamborine 🤣
I laugh uncontrollably ever time I see this.
wHAT IS AMAZING IT THAT I lasted 18 s longer than most. It kind of grows on ya.

This and Pictures of Poo are my favoritest Cure songs!
"I've been looking so long at these pictures of poo, that I almost believe that they're real..."
Timothy Henderson AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Yeah we've all been in one of those jams that hurt
Almost as tight as their actual TV Unplugged performance.
