      Absolutely great. The only major tweak I've made (and I still need to make a video on this,) is: I don't trust hookless nor see the upsides to it, so I swapped the Zipps for some Light Bicycle AR465s on DT350s, which I quite like. I also had some major problems with my Sram AXS that required a warranty swap through Sram for the RD (which admittedly would have been easier with a larger brand I bought through an LBS.) But in terms of the actual bike itself, very very much enjoyed. I’ve really come to enjoy the ride quality and geometry (which just works VERY well for me once I dialed it in.) A lot of non-aggressive geometries (basically, not Tarmacs, etc) really seem to imply that if you don’t want a crit machine, you want handling like an oil tanker. The geo on this really seems to thread that needly between very stable at speed while also being nimble when you push it. It’s very much what I was looking for.

    I'm looking forward to Time starting their manufacturing in the US. We are producing some quality bikes and stealing that crown from the Italians. I wish Cannondale would have stayed in the US, the bikes were better then. It's really baffling to me that bikes being made in Asia come with such a crazy price tag. I would pay the high price for something produced here in the US but not from another Country. That said, I now sport a US fabricated Titanium frame made from US made titanium. The quality differences can be seen when you compare to Asian products.

Tires are Goodyear Eagle F1s (just because they came with the bike.) Haven't pushed them hard or in many conditions yet, and only have ~~400mil on them, but they seem good. Hey Justin, great build and footage of the TIME bike. I'm just waiting a few days to receive my ADHX with the Amber resin. So exciting to build the component list and will use a lot of the tips and build details you have shown here. I'll be running with SRAM Force in a 1x drivetrain 10-44t with 40t chainwheel. Did you manage to get the risk brake hose tube all the way down the cable run? It looked tricky to fit. Also I have LightBicycle XC924 rim wheelset coming as well.

    • @JustinDoesTriathlon
      @JustinDoesTriathlon  9 месяцев назад +1

      That's going to be a great build! The tinted resin on the ADHXs is just 10/10. Yeah, the brake tube was a bit of a PITA. In retrospect I can think of two things that would help. One, run the brake host before putting the BB in. That'll give you better finger access down there as well. Two, use some sort of lube in the tube. Soapy water or isopropyl might work. I had to do the scrunch and pinch method. That said, it worked out well enough and I *definitely* reccomend the tube; the bike is silent.
      Duno if you saw in my other comment, but I ALSO put Light Bicycle wheels on (AR465s.) They make a very solid wheel. Enjoy it! :D

    Great video, thanks 👍

    • @JustinDoesTriathlon
      @JustinDoesTriathlon  Год назад +1

      Certainly. So the one that I used was included, and it's the Deda Alanera "TOP CAP SUPERBOX dedaelementi.com/superbox-topcap) on their website. Works perfect. One note, if you're using the Superbox + the Deda expanding plug, it's a little different than a lot of other stems. The top cap actually extends below flush with the surfact of the stem, and you need room to take up slack in the bearings. Officially, the Deda expansion plug manual or Superbox manual (I believe, absolutely double check this!!) indicates a nominal 3-4mm gap between the top of the steerer tube and the flush top of the stem. This is different than the vast majority (nearly all) carbon steerer tubes/expansion plug/stem combos where the steerer extends to the top of the stem and then you use a 5mm spacer on top to pull up space. So, all that's to say that if you use the Alanera top cap, you'll end up cutting the steerer a touch shorter than you would with a more traditional stem/spacer setup.

    • @robertkleemann11
      @robertkleemann11 11 месяцев назад

      Do you put the stem on the steerer, make a mark and then take of 3 more millimeters?
      I’m about to do the same ”operation” and are a little nervous about it 😅
      In the Deda superbox manuall it seems like it should be 3 mm down from the top of the top cap?

    • @JustinDoesTriathlon
      @JustinDoesTriathlon  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@robertkleemann11 Steerer tube was the one thing I took to my LBS (mainly because I don't have a carbon saw.) IIRC (absolutely double check,) what you said is correct: Deda wants ~3mm of gap. The manual is atypical; most carbon steerers require the steerer flush with the top of the stem, and then typically a 5mm spacer to take up bearing gap. This stack is different, and yes, the steerer is shorter than the stem, but only very slightly. It's nervewracking.

    • @JustinDoesTriathlon
      @JustinDoesTriathlon  Год назад +1

      Had to bust out my calipers. :) They are indeed 28 nominal that measure in at 28.6mm. There is 5.6mm clearance to the inside of the rear stays. No dragging, but they are pretty stiff wheels. I would not go for 30s. If you're looking for wider, the ADHX (the original ADHX, not the new ADHX 45) is closer to 35mm or 38mm supported, and with a geometry that is *nearly* identical to the ADH. It's effectively a roughroads ADH.

      The ADHX is so nice. I love that semi-clear resin. That's stunning. That is indeed interesting! I wonder if it's a Red vs. Force thing? On mine, the top of the cage interferes. Can't set the low limit properly. I suppose technically the better way of saying it is, "You can put the KEDge on, but on mine, for it to clear the FD cage it had to be so far inbound as to not really prevent drops." The Sram catcher has a deeper cutout and sharper bend, so it clears around the cage and then sits ~1.5mm away from the smaller chainring. Yeah, and I don't know about the chain breaker being a real problem or not, but all the Sram lit is very clear that there are specific tools to use to avoid damaging the plates. I needed a new one anyway so I bought one, but I dunno how 'required' it truly is.

    I really like these frames. It seems like every choice Time made in its design was made to improve the practicality and durablity of the frame. There's lots of stuff that most people wouldn't notice. For example, Time limits the number of metal/carbon interfaces on the frame to limit galvanic corrosion. This probably won't matter until year four or five of ownership of the bike, but at that point the Time will still be in great shape while other frames will be starting to degrade. The paint, BB, dropouts, seat post clamp, headset seat etc, everything is simple and proven. This is a bike for people who like to ride a lot and want a bike for years that's not going to cause them problems. I'm personally waiting for a revised Scylon with an integrated front end, which will likely come in 2024.

    Hi. I'm about to purchase the 2023 frame like yours in different color but I haven't heard back from Time yet, so I'll ask you: did the frame come w/ the seat post? I can't find the info on the website.
    P.S. Also, you mentioned that you were not aware of the sizing chart. Yes, because I couldn't find one either. What's your height and what size you went for?

    • @JustinDoesTriathlon
      @JustinDoesTriathlon  8 месяцев назад

      I bought a complete bike (unassembled), and it came with the seat post. I think if you buy a frame only, it’s frame and fork only.
      I am exactly 6ft, with proportionally long legs. I went with a size L, based on my stack and reach from my old frame. I could fit into an XL, but I prefer riding smaller frames and adapting the cockpit from there vs. a larger frame with less adaptability.

    • @shadowsun33
      @shadowsun33 8 месяцев назад

      @@JustinDoesTriathlon Oh that's interesting! I'm somewhat a Van Aert-like rider on the sense that he rides a way smaller frame than those generic charts recommend. I'm a tiny bit taller than 6'1 and my Giant TCR is M/L. It fits perfect and is very compact, a total slammed racing position. But when comparing numbers from Time ADH 21 some numbers favor M while others L. Now, going from such a different geo that my TCR is to Time ADH 21 is hard to tell which size would give me that same or the most similar position that my TCR does. My TCR has 110 stem and I'm upgrading to 120. That's why I gotta wait for Time staff to get back to their offices on Mon. I only wanted to ask does the frame run small in sizes, at least for you?

    • @JustinDoesTriathlon
      @JustinDoesTriathlon  8 месяцев назад +1

       @shadowsun33 So definitely double check this, but imo yes, the frames are on the smaller size of their sizes. But they're also not that aggressive in general. If you haven't used it, check out geometrygeeks.bike. It's a tool that lets you punch in multiple bikes in multiple sizes and compare the geo. I checked out the 2019 (Guess) TCR in L vs the ADH in L, and the ADH is lower/shorter/longer in almost every dimension relative. Seems that an ADH XL is more akin to the TCR L. geometrygeeks.bike/compare/time-2023-alpe-dhuez-disc-2023-l,giant-defy-advanced-pro-0-2019-l,time-2023-alpe-dhuez-disc-2023-xl/

      @@JustinDoesTriathlon Yes, I was comparing the 3 on the geeks website yesterday. Giant TCR M/L against Time ADH 21 M and L. By reach I figured that this time I may have to go w/ L, which is 57. However, when I tried Pinarello F5 aka Prince I was shocked to see that their 54.5 size fit me well which was size M. Thanks for your input.

      @@chrismitsou9686 Very nice red. :D
      Great question on the 303Ss. No issues, but yes I’ve swapped them out for some Light Bicycle AR465s. Basically, I don’t trust hookless. As I see it, essentially no upside at the risk of potential major downside. And it’s true, hookless has not shown to have significant problems in the vast majority of cases. Properly setup, it seems fine, and I trust my mechanic skills. That said, I bought my Time a month or two after having a catastrophic carbon wheel failure on a descent (not hookless related.) I know exactly what it feels like to have a wheel break, and it’s 0% fun. If I’m going fast, I don’t want to have that voice in the back of my head wondering if I should have added a few more PSI this morning and if I am at risk. Hooked clinchers just work. I wouldn’t tell someone not to ride hookless, but I just don’t see the benefit for me and swapping to something that alleviated it was very easy. Also, I like the gloss black of these wheels better than the matte on the Zipps. :D

    • @JustinDoesTriathlon
      @JustinDoesTriathlon  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah I wouldn't go wider than 28s, it's a real 28c clearance. I have actually since sold the Zipps and moved to Light Bicycle AR465s. I can throw some calipers on to check the actual measurement, but yeah, I wouldn't plan on running over 28s. That said... The interesting thing is that their ADHX (not the AHDX45) is verrrryyyy close to the exact same geo. If you’re looking for an ADH but want wider, that’s probably your move.
