You are living my dream. I wish I realized when I was younger that that way of life could be done. Following "the rules" of society, it is difficult to live fully free. I now have 2 boys and we do camp but nothing like you do. I keep saying, "one day" but the older I get, the harder it is to imagine doing it. Live you and don't let anyone tell you it isn't normal. It just isn't what society thinks is normal. I am totally happier in the quiet of nature and away from the grind and what everyone deems as "normal".

"Travels with Charley," written by John Steinbeck. After he "retired" he travelled along America in an RV with his dog Charley. It's not a long book but he talks about the people he meets and the experiences he has while travelling. This book was written in the '60s, I think, but I love it. I know the longer I go without interaction the worse it gets but I truly have no desire to be amongst other people. Introvert is putting it lightly...& what's crazy is I used to be THE biggest social butterfly! I lost trust in ALL humans, nestled into this life & my comfort zone, & haven't looked back or thought twice about it. Until now. Now that I'm getting older & realize just how short life really is. Thank you for the suggestion. Headed over to download now. 🥰

While going through my parents house I found my report cards and I felt like, "I'm not the only one"! I realized I was not the only quiet person in the world. I have never felt comfortable doing small talk. I am comfortable talking with friends, I can get in front of a crowd and talk but I am still quiet and like my alone time.

We have traveled the island areas of South Carolina. The memories we have of being there are absolutely incredible. Also, about ten years ago (I'm almost 70 now), I was into traveling alone. My husband was understanding and supportive even though he enjoyed traveling as much as I did. What surprised me is how freaked out my female friends were at the idea that I drove from southern Illinois to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and stayed in a cabin on the shore of Lake Superior all by myself. It was one of the most relaxing wonderful experiences ever. It just takes listening to your intuition, as you have said, and a bit of common sense. I also truly believe that if we put kindness out into the Universe, we get kindness back. I love following your adventures.

You ladies give me hope! Thank you both for being so open about your desires & your experience with your spouse. I am 49 & have been married for 20 years. Our children are finally out of the house & I've been following & obsessed with this lifestyle for two years now. If it were up to me we'd sell everything today, hit the road tomorrow & never look back! However, my husband isn't onboard with that. I guess it's the position that men have to be the provider & the protector & having worked his entire life to build & have a safe, beautiful, secure home that all of our children can come back to should they ever need/want to, is what is important to him & I completely understand & respect that. He has worked all of these years to build our business & create a reputation & a foundation that just giving it all up in the blink of an eye isn't logical thinking to him. I know that he would support me if & when I choose to hit the road. I know that he would also take extended trips with me but I just want to pack it ALL up & go ALL in! Lol. I've already got him looking at vans & skoolies 🤭🫣 so perhaps my dream is a bit closer than I think. Again, thank you ladies for your comments. It really is an inspiration & so are you! 🥰 Maybe we'll cross paths on the open road soon.

    • @tammydemis7851

I have to stop myself from feeling depressed thinking I’m wasting my life waiting for that day, knowing I married my husband “for better or worse”. I love him dearly & I he treats me like his queen. I guess after almost 30 years of giving myself to my husband & daughters, I want to be selfish. Lord willing, I will see that day come.

    • @paige6028
      @paige6028 Год назад +2

@@tammydemis7851 Oh, I feel as though I have met my best friend! 🥰 Yes, how blessed we are to have such extraordinary husbands! 🙏 As most women do, we have always sacrificed our own wants & needs to make sure everyone around us is happy & well. Perhaps we should put ourselves first after years of devotion, loyalty, sacrificing, nursing, cooking, teaching, crying, laughing, making memories, dreaming of the "if only's" & the "what ifs", always keeping them quiet & tucked away. Would that be selfish after continuously putting ourselves on the back burner for so long!? I think not. We've never known where we could've ended up if only we had run with our dreams. We never became who we may have been had we fulfilled that yearning within us! These things do not make us selfish. In fact, quite the opposite. We have suppressed our own dreams to nurture the dreams & desires of those we love most, & perhaps it is now our time. I imagine loading up my self-converted skoolie or van with only 10 days worth of clothing, basic staples of food & survival, hitting the road with my only destination in sight being to pick you up then heading to one of the many beautiful national parks that I've watched as someone else's backdrop a thousand times before & just sit in awe, becoming one with our surroundings. Repeating this daily & never growing tired of each new destination. Maybe we'll stop in each small town that connects these beautiful wonders, & drop a postcard to our loved ones, letting them know how we're doing & that we're safe. Telling stories to one another of our family & most cherished memories while feeling we've known one another our entire lives. Imagine the thousand shades of pink & orange as we watch each majestic sunrise & equally breathtaking sunsets. In the distance a rock formation that no one can explain peaking just over the horizon as the sun & moon are perfectly set as our alarm. The billion stars hovering over us in the darkest of nights as we appear just as small to them as they do to us. The air, so crisp & clear as we drift away dreaming of the next adventure.
Perhaps our dream will soon become a reality. Until then, keep dreaming my friend. 🥰🙏

I just watched your video, I have followed you for several years, but I don’t always watch everything you post. Tonight, your header caught my attention. I have always admired your courage and your willingness to put yourself out there. I am a woman of a senior age and have done some of that, although most of my life has been pretty traditional I always like to dream and do what many think is “crazy”.
When I was young, I was the first women in the state of California to “sell cars”. I know that seems so crazy now because every time I set foot on a car lot there are women selling cars but let me tell you back in the 70’s that was NOT a thing! I had a really hard time getting that first job and convincing someone I could do it! And I excelled! I have marched to the beat of different drum since my birth, really! My mother always told me I was born walking and talking! I have had a wonderful mostly (what I would consider) traditionally life and now my husband and I are embarking on part time van life. We have two small modest homes in two different regions of the country and plan to use our van to explore the vast country we call ours using each home as our base.
Tonight, your video brought tears to my eyes when you commented on negative things people have posted. I am here to tell you; don’t listen to a thing they say! You do your thing and life will give back in spades. I am so bolstered to see how women and girls have taken this life into their own hands. For years I was involved with an international high school exchange program and the girls outnumbered the boys almost 10 to 1. So, maybe I was born a little too early or maybe I paved the road in some ways to give women and girls the courage to move forward, either way, you are doing the same thing. Don’t ever second guess your decision to be you!

Hi friend. I live in the type of environment you are staying in during this video. I wanted to say it is best to remove all pine needles away from the source of fire. It can spread fast so always clear an area around your fire. Also, when you are burning pine the heat will cause the sap inside to pop and shoot out embers, so move away the pine needles for that reason also. Not a large area just a good fire break around the fire. have fun on your journey and thanks for taking us along.

Hey there ❤️. I love how you can move but still ‘stay home ‘ 😀. My camper has wheels on still but it’s skirted ( lots of skunks ) and Sorcha already was sprayed 2 years ago right beside our place. My favourite book - narrowed down the list - is Firebrand’s Woman , He’s Indian and she’s white. A beautiful story. Then I found the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. ❤️❤️❤️. I’ve read it more than once , 9 books so far and she’s writing the LAST of the series ( we’ll see about THAT 😄) A beautiful series and totally takes you away to where they are ❤️.
I think if I had a car again, I’d lug my camper to a secluded place further in the woods than where my property is , kinda like a vacation 👍. Love your videos hunni. Stay safe always. Belly scratches for Miss Akela 🐾🥰

Dude, this was my favorite video so far thank you for being so open and sharing and being vulnerable. your lifestyle is amazing and my dear, YOU inspire me as I'm sure you do many. I currently live in an off-grid tiny home in the woods, then life is something I see in my future but for now I am quite cozy here in my tiny cabin. I love this lifestyle and I'm so grateful for the many changes and perspectives it has brought me. there are so many ways to live life and you just have to do what feels right for you in your heart space. I'm so glad you mentioned the cost of campgrounds and low income families who may not be able to afford it, we live in communities and places that are meant for the community should be accessible to everyone.
On a different note when you first mentioned Mother of God, it may have been in your last video I ordered it right away!! thanks for that recommendation I love hearing about new books that other people are loving;I haven't started reading it yet because I am reading a book called Outsider by Brett Popplewell I'm only a quarter of the way in but it is 10/10 it's a true story and you're going to love it I won't say anything else; I totally understand when you talked about how you want to read your book but you don't because you don't want it to end... man those are the good ones hey?!! I also just purchased into the wild which I think is also going to be really good libraries are my favorite places to go though ☀️ I'm going to skim through all of the comments and make a list of books thanks for asking people to post this is awesome!!
live your life and have some fun dude and again thanks for letting us have a glimpse into your life and lifestyle and the inspiration 🌅☀️✌️

Oh im so jealous lol. Being from SC, I love the low country. I was trying to figure out what island you were on. Id love to find this place. I'm really glad you enjoyed the marsh. Linea normal is just a thing that people bring up to justify their life to anything different. Ive been called crazy, not normal for the past year and half. Ever since I sold 99%of my belongings and moved into my SUV. Others perception of what normal is doesn't define my life or yours either. I'm not letting anyone judge me by the chapter they happened to walk in on. My story is not finished. I hope you enjoy Charleston. There is so much history there. Some good some not so much, but its beautiful. Rainbow row is gorgeous. Take care. Hugs to Akiela 😊
