If Spurs have DGW33, Ange might be an interesting option for GW31-33. Southampton, Wolves, Forest (likely 5 places difference) and Fulham. And potential for many goals, which give additional points.

I did a quick bit of analysis of what the average manager points for each team would have been so far, so assuming a teams form reflects their performance so far, these should be the kind of points you can expect from each team (against the average opponent). I factored in all the win, draw, goal, clean sheet 5-difference bonus etc., and basically I think the 5-place bonus makes very little difference (since there’s very little chance of beating a 5-place better team), and it seems you’re way better off just going for Liverpool/Arsenal during a good fixture run. Note: This is for the average opponent, so points will go up or down depending on easier/harder fixtures Here is the ranking (average manager points per week so far): ********************** Liverpool: 8.37 Arsenal: 7.00 Nottingham Forest: 6.55 Chelsea: 6.25 Newcastle United: 6.15 Manchester City: 6.12 Bournemouth: 6.23 Aston Villa: 6.06 Fulham: 6.46 Brighton: 6.65 Brentford: 6.55 Tottenham: 6.62 Manchester United: 6.09 West Ham: 6.16 Crystal Palace: 6.24 Everton: 5.87 Wolverhampton Wanderers: 5.54 Ipswich: 5.37 Leicester: 4.93 Southampton: 2.54
Yes but this doesn’t factor teams going on hot streaks/cold streaks. If a team in the bottom half of the table starts playing well, there is a lot of upside for picking those managers, particularly if you’re chasing.
@RevolutMe Yeah sure - if there's reason to believe a team is performing significantly better than expected, or an opponent is likely to perform particularly badly you could go for the bonus, although I think I will stick to Liverpool vs 3 easy teams (maybe swap for one of the weeks if e.g. Arsenal have a better fixture)
I feel the prices for managers are somewhat academic considering the maximum is 1.5m. The chip alone will outscore the majority of non-captained players so you're always going for the best option even if it means spending an extra 1m or so. Going with the risky option seems appealing to gain +16 points for the win as it doesn't seem insurmountable to beat a team 5 places higher these days.
McKenna at Ipswich is the one to go for i think. IF, only IF Ipswich is still in the relegation fight, and the teams they are playing don't have much to play for...their last 3 fixtures are. GW36 Brentford (Home), GW37 Leicester (Away), GW38 West Ham (Home). Brentford have terrible away form. Leicester might be relegated by GW37. West Ham is unlikely to be fighting for relegation or anything to play for. So 2/3 (Brentford and West Ham) of the games would be good for the 10pt league table bonus. Both should be safe by then and unlikely to have anything to play for and both are home games.
Ange is the clear option. They're out of position on the table and have scored the second most goals, they're better qualities to target than clean sheet potential.
I can't wait for next season when they bring in the referee chip, seriously this assistant manager feels more an inconvenience than anything. 2 game weeks would've been more than enough.
My instinct is that it is almost certainly optimal to target teams with games against teams 5+ places above them, especially if they are underperforming their expected points total. The probability of either a draw or a win for those teams in those games, combined with the bonus points, is going to mean a much higher expected return from the assistant manager. Considering also that the probability of losing for a higher placed team is still going to be 15-30%.
I hadn’t realised we could change managers each week, that makes it interesting. With points for goals and clean sheets I think you’re better selecting high scoring banker games rather than risk just 1 or 2 points for goals and still losing the match against higher positioned teams where they’re more likely to lose
Strange pricing, Iraiola costs more than Emery 🤯 I thought the same as you, I want to target Forrest such as Villa at home to Forrest, I can see villa winning that.
C.Palace in gw31 home to Brighton if they contain a table bonus looks attractive given gw 32 could be used on Arsenal or N.Forest (home to Brentford and Everton respectively) then dgw33 for Newcastle (CRY h, AVL a) assuming Gordon - Isak - Murphy and Tonali + Joelinton are producing well.
One injury would probably be enough to cause them a problem. Chris Wood. Their defence is rock solid and I can't see that changing, but they do have problems scoring goals and wood's form is getting them out of trouble there. Could see them drawing a lot of games if he was to be injured and lose form.
Hi Andy do you know if the 5 league place rule is at time of kick off in each game? The league is obviously always changing and so many teams are on similar points. If so you wouldn’t know if your manager was playing a team 5 places above etc when selecting manager
Be interesting to see peoples strategy on this chip whether they go for table bonus and risk getting zero points or the expected "safer" points.
