    Questo signore, ha cantato in contemporanea, con Domingo,Carreras,Pavarotti...

    Ebbene, occorrono tutti e tre e non basta, per fare un tenore di questa grandezza!!! Saluti

      That's because the other were in scope of the mass media. Domingo and Careras didn't deserve it. Pavarotti is another story, Pavarotti was THE VOICE anyway. An unique voice. Giacomini was a great tenor, a dramatic one, while Pavarotti was rather lyric tenor. You cannot have both at the same time.

      I admit that I never warmed to the voice of Pavarotti. I think he could make any aria sound like a street song...no matter the opera it always sounds as if he's singing 'O Sole Mio' whilst winking at an audience.
      Then I hear Giacomini sing and I think, "Oh, THIS is how it's supposed to sound!" A beautiful, studied, mature performance.

      @@brunoantony3218 Weird that you are trying to educate someone who actually sang on-stage with Giacomini. Also weird that you would ever compare Kraus to Giacomini. The two are completely different in terms of voice type, size of voice, timbre, and vocal production. Alfredo Kraus was a fine artist in terms of musicality, phrasing, and emotion. However, by his own admission his vocal production was very much in the mask. In my opinion, this is the reason it lacked the darkness of a chiaroscuro full lyric sound. Giacomini may be a little bit wooden in his interpretation (compared to Kraus, but not generally). But, his vocal technique was in another world.

    • @hiyadroogs
      @hiyadroogs Год назад +5

      @@benjaminjacobs5553 I agree wholeheartedly Ben.
      An opera singer is a vocal athlete. & the closer one gets to the outer edges of the full potential power & range of the voice, the more temperamental the voice becomes.
      A light lyric voice is inheritantly stable, because it functions comfortably inside its ultimate dynamic potential.
      A huge dramatic voice, however, is always produced at 90% of its full dynamic potential. Therefore it has almost no reserve capacity to draw upon when the singer's health, hydration, sleep, or bio rhythms are not 100%.
      Consistency is far more challenging than with the smaller voices.
      It's like a weight lifter, who cannot expect to lift his maximum weight on every occasion he attempts it. Muscles need rest & time to consolidate.
      Sometimes, the voice just doesn't want to know, & there's nothing to do but to back off & nurse it along on the technique.

    There are literally no tenors today who have such richness, power and beauty of tone as Giacomini. None with such pure dramatic quality. It is impossible to cast dramatic opera any more with the current crop of lightweight tenors around. They all sing in their nose and with little or no pharyngeal ringing tone. This technique seems to have been lost. 50 years ago, there were many tenors capable of singing dramatic roles. Now, all we get is Mozart tenors strangling through big repertoire.

    A great voice is one with full, ringing resonance. Giacomini's wonderful voice encompasses all that and more. It is refulgent with feeling, passion and masculinity, aside from having a fabulous round tone. Most singers today never access the full capacity of their voices, having been taught to sing so forward and nasal. The deeper, rounder and richer resonances lie dormant in their voices.

    I pray to this guy. His technique is perfect and seems perfect for his voice. To those who are barking that it's ruining the voice. Check, how long Giacominni sang and then shut up. Of course you can't sing Rossini with this technique because G.G. has a dramatic voice, not known on Rossini period. He is wonderful bel canto and verismo singer. Mostly of course verismo. E strana la voce di giacomini perché è uno di quelli che ha la voce scurissima e va bene nel repertorio romantico e non drammatico. Nel repertorio drammatico dove ci vuole la forza, perde mentre qui con le agilità e' perfetto. Un po' come Terranova che ha un bel timbro col chiaro/scuro e canta la figlia del reggimento e altre opere leggere ma piene di agilità e acuti.

    Perhaps you should listen again. He has excellent dynamics in there and it is varied from soft to loud. Perhaps it is too bad that you didn't hear him live because those who did, can and have attested to his artistry.

    la grande consolidata tecnica, notare che nelle note acute finali apre un attimo completamente la bocca con vocale A per poi raccoglierla repentinamente con vocale O una volta che il suono sta ben piazzato in testa, quindi senza disturbare piu di tanto la laringe, uno dei motivi della sua longevita' vocale
