I am taking a family member to get a liver biopsy next week. Will they let me go back with the patient after the procedure, while they are in recovery? Or will they just make me wait to see them when they are leave the facility?
The policies on whether you can accompany a family member to the recovery area after a liver biopsy procedure vary by facility. Generally, visitors might not be allowed in the recovery room due to space constraints or infection control policies. However, some hospitals may allow it based on the patient's condition, the facility's rules, and the current health guidelines. It's best to check directly with the hospital or clinic where the biopsy is scheduled to understand their specific policies on visitor access during recovery. They can provide the most accurate information regarding their protocols.
Biopsy of Liver masses or tumors is done under moderate sedation and a combination of anxiolytics and pain medicine are administered. General anesthesia requires intubation and would be too much risk for a small procedure..
@@IRADGraphicsOh no! I just came back from an abdominal ultrasound and I saw a red area on my liver. I'm thinking during my follow up next week, the doctor is going to recommend a biopsy. I'm scared 😨
@@IRADGraphics I wasn't allowed anything for a liver biopsy. Nothing. I was told that it was too important that I held my breath precisely when I was told. It depends on where the tumor (which is what it was in my case) is located.
So helpful! Thanks, great video!
Glad it was helpful!
Two days for my second one to see if its liver cancer thanks for the video

Thank you so much for the comment.

Correct. That would be liver parenchymal biopsy.
How about general anaesthesia for this

Is this spleen Biopsy procedure...? Can anybody Tell this
This is not. This a liver mass biopsy. But, biopsy of spleen is done in the same fashion,
Is the only reason they would do a biopsy of the liver is if they suspect cancerous tumors ?
Correct, if there is any imaging findings concerning for neoplastic or cancerous process, then image guided biopsy is recommended.

Is biopsy can done through endoscopy
I saw a video about liver biopsy, they would test to know the reason of the liver disease and to what extent is the damage to the liver.

You could receive moderate sedation which is a combination of midazolam and fentanyl. some practice, offer general anesthesia.
