Dhikr literally means remembrance. But, it goes a while back. In Bacchic rites, there was an heavy emphasis on remembrance, of the divine they experienced (ie, in Dionysos). The initiated (mustai) wanted to remember that experience, not in an intellectual way, but as a matter of realising, once again, what reality is.

“La ilaha illallah” means “there's no God but God”. The world Allah derives from “Al-Ilah” which literally means “The God”. The meaning of this is NOT that only the God of Muslims is God. It merely means that other than God, let no other thing be worshipped as God.

No. It is just that the energetic body, energy and lifeforce are universal. Many traditions explain the same thing in different terms. Zikr with all that knowledge then acknowledges “there is no God but God” which separates it from pantheism (many gods).

I used to. Noticed it was the breathing. Switch between mouth and nose. Or shorten lenght
yes it is. and more you progress you may feel more discomfort but only for a short time. It's like a cleansing of your inner self.
