My 1st gen Pilot has VTM-4 (not torque vectoring) and its truly amazing in the snow! Also have a TLX SH-AWD & its truly a remarkable vehicle with excellent performance in wet and dry!
If u have a sh awd, uknow what he is talking about,,the awd system eats the turns up...like u don't have to brake, just let off the gas turn wheel and press more gas pedal
C'mon #Honda/Acura we need a TypeR with more power plus a light-weight version of the Sh-AwD system...you keep telling us how Great it is, So then make it lighter and Stuff it into the TypeR while improving functionality like no fake vents at the back and practicality like volume/tuning buttons, a physical handbrake over a powered One. I want to get One....and really, more power PLEASE over pops n bangs (Lol) I'm Still a fan of not going loud
I drive an 05 RL as my daily/beater, that thing lets me accelerate mid turn getting off the Highway. (40-50mph~ left turn from double yellow line) Pretty fun, I kinda want to see how Quattro stacks up. Random things I learned: Nearly got in a 70mph accident forcing an exit in a 06 Scion TC and learned what understeer meant. (GPS was late) Got curious and drove an 05 Pilot at my fun exit turn, NOT FUN, hella scary, I learned what a high center of balance meant. Tried again, but slower and it understeer. Drove a 17 C300 Coupe at my fun exit and learned what traction control was, It was lame. Drove a 17 Camry at the same turn andddd understeer like the TC.
2023 MDX SH-AWD Was better then the 2024 MDX AWD. The SH-AWD made the ride more smoother and Quieter then the AWD in my opinion and is worth the extra $2,200 dollars.
When talking about the history of SH-AWD, how could you forget about the very first car that used some of this technology. While it wasn't AWD, the 1997-2001 Prelude Type SH, had torque vectoring from the front wheels. Its ATTS (Active Torque Transfer System) transaxle is basically what the rear differential of the 2004 RL was.
HERE because I just read online that the new 2023 Integra is going to come with super handling all wheel drive. Hopefully, the cheery on top 6-speed manual.
GM's Twin Clutch(GKN) is similar with torque vectoring. But where SH-AWD only sends 70% fore or aft the Twin Clutch can send torque to a single wheel while the other three slip.
@game plan 78 my GM vehicles turbochargers have all been ecu tune for much more than stock and better fuel efficiency. Plus are are very much indestructible even with higher output. GM Intellilink is a robust and doesn't lock up or go blank screen. These are stuff your Japanese dealership mechanic will have to contend with like weak drivetrain and glitchy infotainment that has no fix from the manufacturer.
@game plan 78 yes, embarrassing for HMC when their MDX SH-AWD has to be pushed off the test rollers when others do not. www.extremetech.com/extreme/244191-buick-joins-torque-vectoring-goes-snow-wheel-drive-show
10-14 tl shawd manual swap into a 2010 crosstour? I want to know if its possible and if it is then i want to do it, i love my 4wd crosstour as it is but more power and a better awd system would be so much better
Expectations: Is it like a regular Honda AWD setup but with limited-slip differentials in the front and back? Befor I even watch. Let's see how wrong I am. If it's completely different I'd want to swap it into a Civic or tracked out CRV K24a2/20C or a2 head. OK start the video.
Owned a couple Subaru’s. If they don’t have an actual LSD at the rear or the STI’s center diff then they are just open diffs spinning whatever wheel has the least traction. The SH AWD has active LSD’s that are actually putting power where it needs to be and using it to improve handling. Older systems were really only active under throttle though, not sure about the newer ones. Either way I’m more impressed with the Honda system from a performance perspective. Subaru is still impressive in its own right.
@@Justadudeman22 yeah no contest on the engines. The EJ series was good as a 2.0 but when they stretched it to the 2.5 for the US market it introduced tons of issues. The RDX and 2nd generation NSX are so beautiful to me
Sorry, the 2nd gen RDX did it have SH-AWD as it shared the CR-V AWD system.
Okay? I didn’t say anything about that, I just love the looks of it

This is a very comprehensive nicely produced video. Well worth a watch. A shout out to Andrew Quillin. Well done!
2006 rl, love this car so much
Insane acceleration, handling
Acura each generation always look so good. My favorite is the 2013 to 2018 models. Just purchased 2014 Acura RDX 2wd with 125k miles.
I own a 2023 TLX A spec sh awd and it performs effortlessly especially in wet driving conditions kudos to Acura for great vehicles and technology
This makes me miss my 2005 Acura RL. That thing had unreal handling on power thanks to SH-AWD
I just bought an 06 RL last week and this thing is incredible
@@ParadoxUtopia I have a 06 Rl that SH AWD shit is a monster on the streets.

I love pushing my RDX. Had a blast on the curves of Big Sur and central coast HWY 1. 🎉🎉🎉

The added bonus with sh-awd is getting a donut spare (can replace donut with full size spare). Probably cost you +$400 to add a spare to the FWD MDX.

Didn’t come with the awd but does have the 6 speed, what are your thoughts after a year?
Surprised there's no mention of the system availability on the 4th generation TL Tech, of which I have.
Nothing like Synmetrical AWD from Subaru!
Is there any way that I pay to drive the NSX in a closed circuit in the States? I do not want to buy one but want to experience the awesomeness.
Speed Vegas
How much is the weight of the system...if they did decide to stuff it into a TypeR
you mean the nissan gtr been doing this since the late 80s.. nice to see honda finally step into awd sports car tho.

Probably be easier you look for a 10-13 Acura ZDX with 300hp 3.7L, 6AT, and sh-awd. It is based on the Acura MDX with a hatchback/fastback design.
