    I tried the bodkin also and I agree. It really works great. I'm 70 and I still find new things that makes sewing easier.

    I had a Rowenta for over 20 years and it was great. But now I had to get a new iron and invested in a Oliso, and boy am I glad I did. I absolutely LOVE it. First of all it is the only iron that stays on for 30 minutes. As a garment sewer, this is a must have feature. 2nd, I did not realize just how useful not having to keep on lifting up the iron was. Especially, when you are pressing small areas. Love, love, my Oliso.

    Hi from England. When I started patchwork in 2005 I bought a rotary cutter, it was an Omni and it was a pressure one like the one that you now have, complete with light and heavy 'thingy' like you demonstrated. I am still using it. I have been surprised over the years that I have not seen more of these because as you demonstrated, they are much safer. When I look at it in more detail, even though it is in the light and dark green Omni colours, there is a KAI mark on it and I can just make out RS - 45. Interesting that they are now marketing them under KAI. Perhaps there has been a problem in the intervening years. Thank you for doing these videos.

      That is so interesting! Maybe kai was just manufacturing back then and not a retailer?!

    Great review. Went immediately to order the Shape Weights - out of stock! I got on the wishlist so fingers crossed. The Fons & Porter rotary cutter is almost the exact same and I really like it. I use Martelli blades in it and love it.

    Have you tried switching your cutting mat? I had a really bad one at the beginning, and it totally ate up the blades of my rotary cutter. When I got a better, bigger mat, I instantly noticed a huge impact in my cutting!

      Tried that! I tried everything to get those other rotary cutters to work. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I loveeee that iron. I was looking for a new one. I just got back into sewing after many years away...and was using my regular house iron...it doesn't do what I need it to do. Going to check this out for sure. Thanks for your recommendation.

    You could get the Clover product catalogue, it's full of tools and gadgets. Let me know if you can't get it directly from them, I'm going to an event in August where they have a booth, and I can pick one up for you and mail it.

    I would like to see what you think of the measuring tape that clips around like your arm. Also can you talk about thread? I have had a struggle with thread lately. I don’t use super cheap thread, I’m not sure what is up. Thanks for this video. I’m getting everything. Maybe jus the bigger iron for now. I have arthritis and my wrist hurts all the time. I’m crossing my fingers that this will make any difference at all. People have said maybe I should not sew or as much. Shame on them!

      Lol. Yah. Sewing less is not the answer to our ailments!! And search for a video called “all about thread” on my channel. My friend amber covers some info that might be helpful.

      Inside the Hem I was. I hope I can find the thread video. Trying to find this one, duh....and here it is. Is the thread video on the playlist where you have your friends or something like that?i was all through them looking for this. I am such an airhead omg! I forgot the coupon code for Kai. Thanks so much! I got 4 scissors, 2 rotary cutters, thread snips and replacement blades regular and pinking for like $130. I’m stunned-I can’t thank you enough Lindsey! Im stoked to have good scissors, I think I have 100 and one that works well. I just always put off investing in good ones, I wish I had seen this a long time ago, Kai was my ultimate.

    I have a couple questions about the iron: It looks a little awkward to fill the water, do you find that to be true? Do you use distilled water? Do you dump out the excess water or can you store it?

    • @InsidetheHem
      @InsidetheHem  5 лет назад

      You fill the water reservoir while it’s horizontal so it’s just as easy to fill as any other iron. I personally don’t use distilled water. Not do I dump after each use. But I have very bad habits that I should probably reevaluate. :)

    I went for the bodkin, but, it was sold out. I found it at amazon for the same price and everywhere else. Thank goodness. I have the Oliso iron in blue and love it. I’m very jealous of the 30 minute auto shut off of yours and of course the color.

    Thank you for sharing, does the Kai rotary blade last longer? Even if you are very careful with a blade it still doesn't last long... how is that Kai one? Christine

      I don’t have a lot to compare to since I could never get the other ones to work. But I feel like I’ve been using them like crazy for 2 months and they still work perfectly.

    What is the cost of that iron? Expensive?

    • @InsidetheHem
      @InsidetheHem  5 лет назад +1

      Pricing info can be found by clicking the links in my description box. I don’t know what is considered expensive to you when it come to irons. It’s all relative.

    • @lilolmecj
      @lilolmecj 5 лет назад +1

      Susan Denney their least expensive is around 100 on sale. I used mine extensively for at least four years before it died. I love them, they have a huge water chamber and really pour on the steam. The second tier cost iron puts out more steam.

    I almost ordered a Kai rotary cutter, the RX45 which is slight curved. Have you tried this model? Also, why do you like this one vs th others you have tried? I'm finally cutting out my patterns with a rotary cutter vs scissors and I'm loving it (Olfa). Thank you!
