As with most people who went into the military, I went in as a young 18 year old, naieve to the world. I thought I knew a lot, but, I didnt. And, after my years in the Army, the most valuable lessons I have learned, in life, is, your mind will quit WELL before your body does. I had a trainer once, an E-7, crusty old Vietnam vet, who gave me sage advice: the voice in your head will tell you to quit. You will be sore, tired, hungry, wet, cold-those are all signs of life. So long as you are feeling those, you are fine. You can keep driving on. I learned to mentally acknowledge the pains and bad thoughts, dismiss them, and move on. That got me through a lot of situations and, to this day, all these years later, I still practice that. Expect discomfort. Acknowledge it. Dont dwell on it. Move on.
#6 - Stop being a consumer and become a producer. Can you grow some of your own food? Do you have skills in animal husbandry? Can you build/repair stuff, etc.
I tried to marry an animal but was told I can't legally become the husband to a goat or a cow. I was going to try my hand at polygamy and have several sister cows but was arrested.
I miss sleeping in woods and miss being in the outdoors.I grew up being in woods and outdoors after my dad passed away got away from the outdoors and now I want to get back into the woods and outdoors and teaching my grandchildren about bushcraft survival and get them into woods and the outdoors and get them off the video game and way from the cities. I wanted to be a bushcraft survival instructor when I was a kid and teach it

I do 3 hours of physical preparation training 7 days per week but I am on the extreme end of the scale. You are right 3 times per week is a good starting point.
Unless you’re on steroids or doing light+moderate exercise for 3 hours everyday, you are over doing it and your body will not recover fast enough Unless you’re 55+ or have health issues, you can get maximum results in 1 1/2 hour gym sessions 3 days a week Recovery is just as important, and the amount of hours is irrelevant apart from bragging. Stay humble
@@wonkyfishnut what makes you think that. In fact I turn 55 this year. You think it’s 3 hours of just weight training? How much time do you spend on flexibility/mobility? How much prehab/activation work do you perform? Do you train core work? How about agility/speed work? Do you utilise plyometrics? Also power work? Only then do I do strength training session followed by metabolic/cardio usually zone 4-5.
Not all 'burdens' are a negative thing, respectfully. Our broken society has pushed that notion, but from my view and experience, Jason does not seem to be viewing it as a negative at all. He is a man willing to stand up and choose to accept a man's role as leader, provider, protector and all the responsibilities that come with that out of his deep love for his family. This society in large part seems to have lost the understanding of and importance of men who willingly add a bit more to their own plate for the benefit of their family. I hope many more men have the strength, courage, love and ability to stand up and into this vital role.
Ha! I do a lot of mental training. As a middle age man working graveyard I definitely practice body language and social engineering. It comes in very handy. For the most part, one look is enough to intimidate. My deep voice adds to the facade. But just a slight adjustment and I become mysterious. A little slight of hand and a witty dialogue and suddenly I'm charming. It's also a great way to study people and their reactions.
The biggest weakness/obstacle that I see in people that I care about is normalcy bias. For the life of me I don’t know how I can get these people to understand that business as usual is over and a serious situation is right in front of them and they have to start thinking, acting and doing things differently for their own safety. So far all I have accomplished is my family thinking I have PTSD issues, wear tinfoil hats and only listen to conspiracy theories. I understand you can lead a horse to water but you can’t count your chickens until the fat lady sings but these people are stone cold blind to the world around them.

Yes I love this sharing , this is what we do all the time , we have been living off the grid remotely for the past 6 years plus, if we hear a noise every body inside goes out, we keep blinking lights through out the property, plus steady lights and we have spots where we can be non visible if we need to , we protrol the property on foot and sometimes we drive through and around it. We use walkie talkies, we have created pathways and we have a deeper remote spot on the property to fall back too. Etc.
My social anxiety makes me hesitant to take on new tasks. You guys did a great job motivating me here. I wanna do new things but i wish i just new guys like yall...

I find hiking through the mountains, summer, and winter, helps clear my mind, and brings me peace ✌️. It also keeps me in shape and teaches me how to deal with different weather conditions in extremely cold conditions... This was really good. I watch a lot of different prep/ or overcoming secret squirrel type stuff and many people have mentioned how to get/train situational awareness or mental fortitude. People just need to know and learn to the the suck that way everything else seems easy.

I consider myself pretty situation aware. My wife and I were walking a trail that had a steep drop off, and because I was focusing more on what was below me, I walked right past a copperhead on the side of the trail. I felt a cleared trail was safe, and I was wrong. My lesson was slow down complacency can be dangerous.
Best training I ever had was growing up in Brooklyn and Staten Island-60&70s. Best training is hide and seek in a wooded area or a 6 block grid. Playing auto tag was pretty cool. Tap someone at a red light and they are it….
I was loading my mail van and I heard a rhythmic thumping and a woofing sound coming from my left, when I looked up a mama bear and cubs were dumpster diving beside my van. I slowly backed my way into the back door of the post office. They finished and left and I finished loading my van.
Your MAG doesn't even have to know they are (your mag). I have been training my community for years. Now most are growing gardens, raising animals, they know how to shoot and move and live with each other. Train your community by inviting them to events.
When you ask yourself, "What is the prime goal of all life?" and you answer, "Stay alive"; you have found the answer to the first question. That knowledge alone will make you harder to kill.
Emotional toughness. What is it now, over 30 veterans per day commit suicide? Some are physically tough, mentally tough but can't handle the emotional aspects.
Well said y’all!!! Training and knowledge is everything. Especially when things go to hell and being ready for any situation that may come up. Being in the woods there are plenty of ways to get hurt but once you understand nature you know what to look for. I feel more comfortable with nature than I do around other people. There are so many wolves in sheep clothing and it’s for us to be ready when the threat comes. Nature is part of God’s plan evil people are Satan’s plan trying to destroy you. Being a harder target is always important and making sure others know that. Now when you find like minded people you protect them just like you protect yours. In the end and when the 💩 hits the fan God’s people will thrive and be protected from the wicked. At one point, the CDC basically said that the vast majority of venomous snakebites occurred due to a combination of male humans and alcohol. Although that’s probably still true, their current information however, is far more comprehensive.
