Thank You so much. After all these years, Ive never known Audition had a spot healing brush. This feature will keep coming in handy. I highly appreciate it!!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that my tutorial helped you eliminate that pesky background noise and improve your audio quality.
You absolutely saved my bacon with this. I have been beating my head against a wall trying to recreate a sound from poor audio samples but with this tutorial I was able to clean those samples up good enough to actually use. Incredible! Thank you.
I recorded a bunch of course videos and my mic wasn't plugged in so it was using the internal mic. Oh my god, the clicking sounds from the webcam were every 2 seconds in about 3 hours of videos. I did the second healing process and it's gone and my videos are sound good now! Thank goodness I don't have to re-do all of them. Thank you thank you thank you.
I'm so glad to hear that the tutorial helped you remove the background noise from your course videos and saved you from having to re-record them all. You're very welcome!
One of the great features of Premiere is the use of Adobe Audition effects. There is also a good integration between these two software. Thank you for this tutorial.
Hi Mike! Amazing video as always. I have a question... Sometimes I go to concerts or gigs and the audio it's just half good because the bass drum and the bass "burst" in the audio. So you can hear the music, but it's annoying at the same time. What could be done for stuff like that?
A recording made in an environment like that is never going to be good quality. You would need a feed from the main board to get a decent quality recording.
I'm glad to hear that Adobe Podcast speech enhance has helped you tackle difficult audio challenges - it's a powerful tool for dealing with even the toughest noise issues!
That's impressive, Mike! 😱 Hope I can get a similar result on my talking head inside a professional kitchen, which has got a good amount of reverb on it 😣
I'm using a couple of RODE Wireless GO II attached to the chef's coat. Do you think a VideoMicro or any other mike of this kind would have been better on limiting the reverb?
Thank you for your very detailed video :) Im having fun playing with the healing brush! How could I remove a static sound? My Blink cameras make a continuous static sound and an intermittent static sound. Not sure why. Any help is appreciated!
For removing static sounds like that from your Blink cameras, try using a noise reduction plugin with a profile tailored to reduce broadband white noise.
Hey Mike Russel, do you think you can make a video on how to remove percussion and bass from music? I use instrumental beats as background music however the percussion and bass seem too distracting. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Absolutely! I'll add that topic to my list and create a tutorial on how to remove percussion and bass from music to make it more suitable for background use. Stay tuned! I think you can do this with many of the new AI tools available.
I recommend using a combination of noise reduction tools in your audio editing software to reduce background noise, along with strategic use of EQ to make your voice stand out, while also considering legal implications of using copyrighted music in your videos.
@@MikeRussell It is not that I put the music in the videos - I am a slot/video poker channel and in a casino music is always playing. Thanks for your suggestion
ANy sugestions for removing someone talking in the background of a podcast episode? somehow a microphone somewhere wasn't off any I have 20 minutes of jacked up audio on a podcast that was recorded.
Hey, Mike. Any advice for audio editing when it comes to skateboarding? I make skate videos and I'd like to learn how to clean up/shape the audio of my clips. I just don't know what to search to get info on audio editing of something like that.
I hope this find you cause I need help FAST!!! I've been attempting to clean up audio on a project and theres this static/hiss noise...I have no clue where it comes from cause towards the end of the video it goes away (slightly) i don't if its the mic (was using a lav), but I've tried everything to remove it and all it does is make the subjects voice sound hollow and tinny. I would absolutely love some advice on how to remove it cause its a project that needs to be complete by tomorrow! Thanks so much for your tutelage. I pray you respond sooner than later!
Don't worry, I can provide some tips to help reduce that background hiss and make your audio sound clean and professional again. Sounds to me like you’re using too much noise reduction as this can cause artifacts and that hollow sound. Have you tried new stuff like the Enhance Speech effect in Adobe Premiere Pro?
I wish i had a PC cause this would be amazing for when i want to record my playing with guitar and possibly drums, but do you know if there's a similar way i can do this with just my phone?
Absolutely! You can achieve a similar result using mobile apps like Audacity or GarageBand to remove background noise from your recordings on your phone.
@MikeRussell oh sweet thank you, you wouldn't happen to have a tutorial for it like this vid on your channel? If so would love to watch it to get some tips on it, or if you haven't would love a future vid down the line for it 🤟
Will these teqhniques work for removing sound effects and other noises from a piece of music rather than talking? Or will the quality/clarity of the music be too significantly affected? Edit: my gut feeling is that doing this for music will be very differant to doing it for talking, but i have no idea if thats true
Hi Mike! Thank you so much, it is amazing! And I really want to try your tips but my audition doesn't open when I click edit -> open in audition-> sequence (I can't select 'clip') in audition. It says that it is going to open in audition but the audition application doesn't open. Do you know why? I have PR2023. Greetings, Joyce
I'm try to remove background noise from a video students took at a trade show. they use a shotgun mic to interview people but I can't hear it over the people talking in the background. I'v tried some of what you said to do I end up taking everything out including the interview. what am I doing wrong?
If you can't hear the intended audio over the "background noise" then that's not background noise and you'll have to re-record the interviews I'm afraid
What if you can't identify where the sound is? I tried the painting out the sound of a plate clinking in the background but I can't find the sound on the sprectral view.
Hey mike I need your help with a recording placed inside a car…it’s a lot of movement in the car but it’s also some faint voices. Can you help me make it sound as good as possible?
In Adobe Audition, you can use the Noise Reduction effect combined with a Noise Gate to selectively remove background noise from your audio file if the db exceeds a specific threshold.
Hi there! To access the background noise removal feature in Premiere Pro, make sure you have the latest version installed and check if the option is available under the "Effects" tab in the audio effects panel.
what if there is only noise if someone speaks? like a wet squeaking noise, def higher frequency like the voice. it just sounds unnatural. like when someone rubs a rubber over a wet plastic foil. 😅
In that case, you can try using spectral editing techniques in Adobe Audition to isolate and remove specific frequencies associated with the wet squeaking noise, ensuring a more natural sound in your audio.
His tutorials are quite advanced. I'm a noob as well and his tutorials are always recommended. I'm struggling to understand. The terms he uses most of the time are for those who have basic understanding of Au and audio editing. When he discusses spectral frequency, I just can't grasp it. How do people even figure out which shapes certain sounds are, the graph looks like Satan's ultrasound. 😭 He needs to make tutorials for noobs and dumbasses. I think I fall under the latter. I swear I don't know what the hell I'm doing whenever I try to follow his instructions. I end up making the audio sound like I pulled the voice-over out of my big fat 🍑.
@@gvnthercentralperk8583 LOL I get that!! I literally spent weeks studying it 6 hours a day by myself and I only know the very basics. The spectral thing is: you have to play with it, lots of Ctrl z and eventually you'll begin to notice some patterns. @@v_vlps Thanks. I'm trying my best. Good luck with your projects. Hope to reach your level. Or any level at this point. It has been two weeks since I started. I suppose I really need to turn the AC off but I live in a tropical island so that means it's gonna feel like I'm recording under Satan's pits. 🥴😂 Anyway, thanks again!

Hi Mike. Which method would you suggest for removing cicada sounds at background?
I would suggest using spectral frequency display to remove the cicada sounds with the spot healing brush tool.
That's impressive, Mike! 😱 Hope I can get a similar result on my talking head inside a professional kitchen, which has got a good amount of reverb on it 😣
You'll need to chose your microphone very carefully to minimise the impacts of the reverb during recording
I'm using a couple of RODE Wireless GO II attached to the chef's coat. Do you think a VideoMicro or any other mike of this kind would have been better on limiting the reverb?
That's a good microphone choice. Make sure you set the levels correctly and get it as close as possible to minimise pick up or reverb
great tutorial, but I love to see a similar tutorial with DaVinci. Is this also possible with the factory plugins of Davinci too?
I'm sure there are tutorials using Davinci but my choice would remain to use Audition as I believe it to be the best DAW for my usage

How about turning up the back ground to see what people are saying
Increasing background noise will only make speech less intelligible and degrade audio quality but you could totally keep room tone only.
