India scripted history at BATC or Badminton Asia Team Championships to secure their maiden gold in the tournament. India beat Thailand 3-2 in the final to etched their name in the history books. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team for their historic feat. In addition to seasoned campaigners PV Sindhu, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, it was the teenage sensation Anmol Kharb that secured victory in the decisive tie. But who is Anmol? And what does this win mean for Indian Badminton? Rupha Ramani brings you more.

It's unprecedented to have won this elusive trophy but badminton players don't get enough appreciation what they deserved I urge all the sportsperson to like badminton videos and comments at least for our real pride I have been waiting for this moment for a long time so happy

Congratulations indian women's badminton team. Why such unprecedented milestone not getting coverage by mainstream media? Even ind vs eng test getting more coverage than this milestone. I was following asian badminton championships and so happy that we won gold by women's. Many many congratulations. 👍

It's started since 1983, they have to achieve that kind of milestone, and that is olympic for other sports.

An absolutely exceptional achievement. Everyone played their part. The role of Pullela Gopichand in the campaign deserves recognition. Massive respect. Sadly, no Indian channel broadcasted the tournament live.
Enjoyed this report, though. Well compiled and presented.

Atleast do some research mam, we won silver not gold in Asian games team event. Its been over 24 hours since we scripted history and now you people woke up, had it been an India's victory in any 3rd tier competition, your news rooms would have been different. Happy though at least you showed something.

Indonesia, China, Korea and Japan, the main players, were not fielded, that's why India won

Agreed but even then opponents in each match were ranked higher than the Indian players they played against. So in a way they have beaten a higher ranked opponent in each match. India was seeded 5th and they beat 1,2,3 seeded teams so if u can't appreciate that than please try and look at it with better perception and knowledge too

      Indonesia😂
Japan played full strength.... Bar Akane. Also our players are much young...it's not our fault....they okayed the team which was in front of them.

Still their players are ranked higher then ours, we win by beating higher ranked player, get some research.
