I have made loops for years now, but I have a unique question. I had a stroke and refuse to give up making jewelry. I am having a terrible time with use of only one hand. I have been trying with my vices to hold the head pin in place, but, as you can imagine the beads move around and fall off. If you or anyone on your channel followers can come up with a way with a vise & one hand, or any other way please let me know. I’ve tried every method or way I can think of. HELP ! Dixie
Hey Sweet Dixie! I am so sorry. I started praying for you the moment I read your message. So I don't know if I came up with the greatest solution but you could give it a try. It is a tool that makes loops for you. amzn.to/3xnXr4H It is not my favorite tool but with only the use of one hand at this time I think it could be a good option for you. But I am not for sure. @@DezyJewelry You are so kind. I think you are 100% correct. That said, I have bought one of each size and use them. As you said, they aren’t my favorite tool for several reasons. One of which is the fact that maybe deliberate or not, the tool doesn’t close completely. I would guess to add the earring wire, Jumpring etc. But this leaves me with the dilemma of still closing the loop and/or the jump ring. But the biggest challenge especially for dangle earrings on a headpin. Even using my vise to hold the headpin (with the beads on it), the beads slide down and I can’t get a good estimate of where the beads are on the pin. Most times they aren’t snug together leaving extra wire. Hope you understand what I’m trying to explain. If I turn the wire and beads sideways inside the vise, they roll down to where I am trying to make or finish closing the premade loop. I have tried putting tape on the bottom of the beads in hopes they will stay in place. For me I want to just grabthe pin and make the eye. If I could come up with a VERY small cylinder that could hold the pin in place where the bottom of pin with (beads) could sit on a flat surface, that would be great. In other words an itty bitty vise type tool that I don’t have to hold the beads and turn vise handle to tighten it around the pin with beads on it. Make sense? That is just one of my many challenges! I also make the seed bead jewelry with string and needle. I have created a half way decent way to anchor the work down while I add to design. Thanks for the idea and anything helps that I can incorporate into my work. I liked your page so I should still be around. Maybe some of your beading fans could help out if they knew about my problem. I heard of one teacher that she shared with her husband and he came up with a solution in his shop for her. Thought that was cool

So true. I do not like using cutters that come with a jewelry tool kit. Only my handy dandy electrician cutter tool!

Also there are other pliers like this one that make smaller loops this one makes a 3mm but they have one that makes a 1.5mm and a 2mm as well
