IIRC, you can see which stats you need to increase by clicking on the "???" options in each weapon's build up menu? That might be in a different game in the series, I can't quite remember!
3:07 This old guy with his beady eyes always has this look on his face like the LSD just kicked in. 9:18 Yeah, normally I feel like I'd have some insight or something to say regarding weird enemies in Japanese RPGs...but in this particular case I'm totally lost lol. I have no idea what the deal is with these weekday gremlins. There might not be any real reason for all we know, and the devs just wanted to have a bunch of different gnome enemies and needed a handy naming scheme. 10:30 The original Rambo is so good. It is kinda ironic what the popular perception of Rambo's legacy is, given the themes and message of that first movie. 11:44 Not sure how far ahead you record these, so I'll refrain just repeating what I said in the last video's comments lol. I find that once a game loses my investment, or if it isn't able to grab me initially, it is really hard for it to rope me back in further down the line. There's like a kind of "investment inertia" where it is hard to get started and hard to stop, but once a game hooks me in it is easy to stay invested. 12:37 I always loved the way Toan enters the floors in this dungeon. Seems synced up to the music somehow? Also each character enters in their own way! 13:12 Since I noticed you skipped adding attachments again, part of me wonders if part of the problem is that the game gives little guidance on how to reach the weapons' Build-Up options (as is, you are kind of aimlessly attaching things through no fault of your own). 15:00 Yeah, this might go some way towards explaining why this game is getting so frustrating for you lol. When I play, I tend to have a stock of like 5 Dran's Feathers at all times, I can't stand not having a sprint button. 19:00 A lot of people just like the feeling of putting together some sort of crazy combo, via buffs and preparation. For these players, thinking about and implementing those strategies is fun, rather than just a chore. You see this a lot in the Soulsborne community, but those games also provide options for people that don't want to mess with all that stuff, which is part of what makes them so popular, I think. Especially with Elden Ring, there's lots of ways to play "unoptimally" that will still get you through the game perfectly fine, and if you have fun doing it, who cares. With regards to Dark Cloud 1, the combat mechanics are pretty rudimentary--there's only so far raw skill will get you here--so much of the enjoyment comes from preparing and building up your favorite weapons (kind of like training your favorite Pokemon). If that kind of playstyle isn't your vibe, you might have a hard time getting into it. 20:51 No, you've just been very unlucky lol. 34:20 Yeah, this kind of thing is sorta where more advanced techs come into play, like using the i-frames from charge attacks to "dodge" attacks up close. Granted, certain enemies are just much easier to fight with ranged weapons, but it is hard to get ahold of better slingshots for Xiao at this point in the game. (They do exist, you just need to get lucky with the weapon chests). 55:20 Hahaha, such is life in blind playthroughs! I'd recommend checking out that green repair powder bag you picked up, I think you'll like it! 58:10 Toan is leaky lmao. 1:01:25 Always bring status healing items! You have plenty of space in your bag! For Goo, you need that soap bar item you've been ignoring at Gaffer's lol. You might also consider keeping a revive powder or two handy.
NGL my recording schedule is pretty random, sometimes I can do a few videos in a row, sometimes I'm a few weeks in between a single recording session. Sometimes this is nice, as it preserves a bit of the 'blind' LP perspective, but it also means I can be talking about things temporally out of place. Definitely struggle with things like the Dran's feather given if it isn't permanent, I basically disregard it. But this game doesn't seem to operate by that logic. I am glad to know it isn't always the third gate object, I'd rather be unlucky then that be an intentional game design choice. lol.
