    As I worked through the process of trying to remove and then reinstall the wheel as part of diagnosing a break issue, I had so many questions. Every one of those questions was answered by re-watching this video again. God bless you. This video is a life-saver :)

    Seriously best of luck to everyone attempting to remove their rear wheel from their hub drive ebike. Spent a solid 2-3 hours watching videos on how to go about doing it after i caught an unsuspecting flat otw home on my totguard mtb eibke. Changing a flat on a regular bmx bike for years had me spoiled once i realized on an ebike its abit different, and imo more troublesome. My bike is from a different brand but thankfully in this video he actually showed the process of removing the wheel and it was similar enough to where itll help others in a similar fashion. This video is one of the very few that actually shows the process from start to finish.
    Seriously though, it was such a pain to actually get the wheel off the first time. Then me being paranoid, i completely didnt pay attention to how the wheel actually came off as i spent an hour tugging away at the wheel due to it being somewhat jammed in place even after taking off all screws and whatnot. Basically panicked once i realized all the loops and whatnot id have to go through to fit the wheel back in once i changed the tube... lol. Then spent another 20 minutes figuring out the best way to fit the wires and wheel through the chain and back in place where it "makes sense", since i failed miserably getting to this part. Fortunately i finally figured it out and after 2 hours, managed to remove the rear wheel while unplugging the electronics, change the flat ( which took like a minute...just my luck), reinstall rear wheel, while readjusting my breaks and stem all in one piece.
    I finally get it now when people preach about working on your own bike when trouble arises. You really do gain a sort of bond with it, and begin to truly understand how and why things work the way they do and will be able to troubleshoot in the future when things pop up. So despite it being a pain that i caught a flat on my new ebike recently, im thankful it allowed me to finally learn how to repair it myself since it honestly wasnt so bad in hindsight. Now i feel much better knowing i can troubleshoot my bike without much concern or needing to stop by my local shop everytime a simple issue pops up. With ebikes, i was apparently overthinking things since in essence, they're still regular bikes at the end of the day.

      Glad to hear you got it sorted out. 👍 There's a reason it's the Dreaded Rear Wheel.
      This is also why bike shops will charge as much as $50 or more, to fix a flat on one of these, plus parts. That's if they are willing to help at all.
      My goal is to help show as many repairs as I can so that folks at least have some guidance when it comes to their ebike.

      Although I have a bike stand, I use it to adjust the shifting and adjust the break pads. When I need to remove the front or rear tire, I find it much easier to flip the bike upside.

    • @ElementalSk81
      @ElementalSk81 7 месяцев назад

      @@bobthebuilder9416 lol it honestly was at the time when I first did it. But fortunately like with most things, once you do it the first time, it becomes easier each time. But yes, definitely was a nightmare the first time I did it. Thought I broke the dang bike, before finally calming down and figuring it all out step by step.
      In the end, it’s much easier than it looks. But it’s one of those things where you won’t know how easy it is, until you go through it yourself, atleast once.

      We have a lot of Mesquite with big thorns here in Tucson so I had endless flats a couple on the front & more on the rear tire. Finally a complete blowout of the rear tube. I bought an $83 foam liner & tube to match, new rim & motor assembly from LECTRIC. I made a DIY liner with an old tire (trimmed down) & trimmed down old tube. It's probably not as good as the foam liner but the front wheel is not so much trouble to take off & put on. With slime this arrangement should do for front & rear.
      I'm watching the video how to R & R the rear tire. Seems like it should be just as good to put the bike upside down (on a pillow for the handlebars & a block under the rear carrier?

    Plan on buying an e-bike in the very near future. My first investment in accessories is going to be a repair stand like you use. I have several standard regular bikes in my garage that I have to stand upside down on their seats to remove wheels. The repair stand looks critical in making repairs easier. Thanks for the video.

    Excellent guide, good enough to be used by Lectric for reference! I put re-usable zip ties on my RadMini, and got rid of the bash guard as well, so it's not so bad. When you find the wheel jammed or hard to remove, it's usually because the position of the axle rotated a bit due to motor torque, and the axle got wedged. Pre-loading the axle rotation by tightening the left nut first usually eliminates that, but in some situations I'll use a small adjustable wrench to pre-load it (opposite direction of wheel rotation). Props to Lectric for using double safety/torque plates, and thanks for the video!

Finally i used a monkey wrench to grip the axle and turn it in the opposite direction to jog it loose. To clarify, if it looks jammed in one direction, I would turn it in the other and it popped out. I would add to be careful not to bend it too far, just enough to loosen it.

Exactly a week later I got flat again. This time I learned and patch myself. Will add slime or flat out soon. Thanks for this video. I’ll have to replace both tires soon with road tires. Hope I can do it on my own. Thanks for this helpful video.

      @PedalWithPower  2 года назад +3

      @@pretor706 I prefer Tannus instead of using Slime or Flat out. Nothing will stop every flat but both of these options will stop small sharp objects.
      However, if run over something big enough to puncture through the Tannus it will also be too big for Flat Out or Slime to stop.
      With the Tannus you can replace the tube and keep using the same Tannus Inserts, with Slime or Flat Out you will have a big mess and have to buy more Slime or Flat Out for your new tube.
      Tannus Armour can also be transferred from tire to tire as you wear out your tires.

    Thanks for this. It was very helpful.
    I can echo what someone else said. If you don't have a stand, turn the bike upside down to reinsert the wheel. Obviously remove mirrors and move the display out the way etc first. Before I did that I was struggling with it balanced on a box. That would have worked, awkwardly, except for the fact that you really need the pedals to rotate freely otherwise the chain tightens which prevents you from pulling the wheel up tightly which gets very frustrating. Once I turned it upside down it literally fell into place quite easily.
    I had to replace my wheel because the speedometer stopped working. Apparently it's the sensors inside the hub which you can't easily replace separately. The new wheel came with new nuts and washers. I noticed that only one of the new safety washes has the hole with the flat sides. The other has a simple round hole so it doesn't lock in position on the axle. I don't think it matters once it's all screwed up tight but I don't know if that was intentional or a manufacturing error.

    I’m stumped. I’ve had my LECTRIC 2.0 step through since Dec 2021. I put 2500 miles on the original tires, and never once had a flat. Just ordered 2 new LECTRIC tires and tubes. I had a bike shop put them on, along with new brake pads. My brand new back tire has gone flat twice now and stranded me. It’s so strange because there was a pinhole sized leak in the 1st tube. I replaced the tube. Same day there’s a pinhole leak in the second tube. Filled it up with air, and the tube has slime in it. I put the bike in my shed and the tire was flat in less than a minute. We are stumped. We’ve examined the rim and tire. There’s nothing sharp in there, but the leak is in the same spot on both tubes. Has anyone ever experienced this? Could the tire be faulty? My front tire is fine.

      Update to this post. Wrapped the rim with duct tape and haven’t had any issues. Apparently there was something pinhole size digging into the tube in the same place.

      I’ve got 3500 mi on original tires.
      I’ve had one flat, on rear. Stranding me once😅. Luck?
      Rear tire is now treadless and I have to change it 😮.

      I have searched all along the electrical cable and it hasn't got a part where you unclip it, whenever I have a flat I have to leave the cable attached to the back wheel making it very awkward. Is there something I am missing because my back wheel needs removing to repair the motor hub cap. How do I remove the cable without any pin clips?

    I think the cable where it goes into the hub on mine is damaged.....what the heck is that part called. Noticed my derailleur cage is AWOL.

    My two safety washers, that line up with the frame, one lines up and I can get that 4mm bolt in, but the other side will not line up... it's a few degrees off, and since the axle is straight-through, I can't get the one side's safety washer in... it was when I took the wheel off, but not sure why it's off now.... hmmmmm.....

      Flip the safety washer (Lectric calls it "torque arm"). Flat side faces in on one side, out on the other side.

    So I am wondering. I've watched 2 previous videos, and the guys had no clue what their doing. I just got a 2.0 yesterday and the rear tire won't hold air. I I assume it's a pinch flat. Is that repairable or do I have to get a new tube for before I can ride this bike? I Thanks for your input and and anyone who knows. Oh, and mine is a 2.0 stepthrough, if that helps.

      Hi Darrel, you can check the tube for holes and if they can be patched and the tube holds air, you can ride on it.

      So my next thought is to use the Slime I have left from my last bike {KBO Breeze } that I sold last week to purchase this bike. Didn't expect to have a flat tire before I could even ride it. Let me just see Lectric is willing to make it right or pass the buck

      So I just got a replacement tube from Lectric today (way to go Lectric) it only took 2 days. Amazingly, that was faster than Amazon (I ordered 2 tubes from Amazon due to arrive tomorrow) along with a steel valve stem wrench since the 2 plastic tools from Slime wouldn't work. (man, everything bolted on here is EXTREMELY tight) and even my crescent wrench wouldn't unbolt the axel, I had to borrow a 18mm wrench from my neighbor. But I think I got everything bolted back together. Going for a 1st time test drive and in a few

    Followed everything but my rear tire would not come out, i have a 2021 step thru 2.0. Why is this?

    • @PedalWithPower
      @PedalWithPower  2 года назад

      It's possible the axle is twisted in the dropout. I should have covered this but my axle wasn't twisted. I'll add a quick video soon showing how to fix it.
      Try to grip your axle with a crescent wrench on the flat sides of the axle and twist it free. It helps to look in the dropout and see which direction you need to twist it so that it will un-jam from the dropout.
