Hi Robbie. I think the birds are very lucky to have you. I also think anyone that knows you is very lucky to know you. You are a very warm, caring, creative, and knowledgeable person. As a fellow animal lover, I thank you for helping our animal friends.

I had a female hummingbird at my house this last year and believe it or not she would sit there and listen to me talk to her even perch sometimes, and just watch me and listen to me talk in a gentle voice. It was really cool a blessing from God. Merry Christmas. Duane.

I have 1 birdfeeder for the hummers. If the feeder is low or empty, one of the hummingbirds looks in my office window where I hang out and hovers staring at me. I am 100% positive s/he is telling me "Fill up the feeder!" Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Thanks for all your videos. I always learn something and I love your creative engineering!

Lol! I only have two hummers here but if I don’t notice the feeders are empty they holler at me and dive bomb my head. Lol

That is exactly what my babies do. They yell at me telling me to hurry up. I have 10 feeders throughout the yard and there is always chaos and fighting, then all the sudden when it reaches closing hour (when they retire for the night) ill see over ten on one feeder alone and they all sit quietly together gulping their juice.. Great entertainment. Gods little jewels..

I just finished making the Christmas ball fountain you showed us how to make with Dollar Tree stuff, it's raining out so I guess they won't need it right now. But by summer the one bully hummingbird that seems to be sipping on the feeder will be happy with this the new water feature. He won't let me see him, scatters when he sees me, and divebombs all other birds, but I guess I'm happy that even one hummingbird decided that this is a reliable buffet. Looking at all those birds you slave away for, I'm guessing you never go on vacation? What would they do if you go away for a couple weeks in winter?

it’s weird that we ( Magna, Utah ~ Salt Lake City Utah ) are in winter but have only gotten 3 very small snow storms that barely covered the ground.
it’s nearly Christmas 🎄 but it looks like summer outside minus the freezing weather.
Wishing You, Gary and Your Family a Very Merry, Blessed Christmas and an amazing 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣

A few days ago a hummingbird have been coming to my yard to drink nectar from my flowers.
I put up feeders the other months but only saw Phoenix moths.

I sent a message mid way through the video asking how much sugar you go through a day but deleted it when I heard you say you go through 2 to 4 gallons a day, so if my calculations are correct, you go through 5 to 10 pound bag of sugar daily.. I could be way off, but I've always wondered. A ten pound bag takes me about a month to go through for my hummers.. Busy woman keeping all of those feeders full.. Full time job doing that alone. Those hummers are so fortunate to have people like yourself that are so selfless and amazing, to go out of your way to assist in their needs.. Happy Holidays. Great video and my favorite channel..

My Anna’s and Costas stay all year long here in Las Vegas. And, they perch on the feeder in the morning half frozen and sluggish. They’re really drinking a lot of nectar! I miss the black chinned and broad tailed, but I know they will be back in the spring. I figure that if some of my little friends stay just to make me smile, the least I can do is make sure the feeder is full 😊Merry Christmas, Robbie and Gary ❤

In the Pacific Northwest, in WA in the Puget Sound area, we have Annas year round. In freezing weather I use a product called Hummer Hearth to keep the feeders from freezing. However, this warming device, the Hummer Hearth, will cause nectar to mold much more quickly if temperatures warm and the heaters are left on.

I may not have hummingbirds right now. However, I just filled 6 bird feeders today. That is not nearly as many as you all have, but that should last about a week here. There has been quite a bit of rain, so there is no shortage of water either. Take care, and have a wonderful Christmas.

Robbie you don't add food coloring to the Hummingbird feeders? I thought adding red food coloring would help attract them to feed on the feeder.

Do hummingbirds use a birdhouse for shelter and laying eggs?

  • @cooknwoman

We're at 4,000 elevation in So Ca, it does snow here, lots of flowers for our hummingbirds in summer, not so much in winter. We still keep some hummingbird feeders hanging since there are some types of Hummers who will stay through winter, we also make sure they have fresh water. Do hummingbirds lay their eggs in winter or spring, we bought 3 natural grass hummingbird nests, although I'm not sure if they will use a nest that they didn't build themselves ⁉️
