That 22:44 surround was the most glorious tactical maneuver since the Battle of Cannae. Opening a gap and using your squishy Archmage as a bait for a surround is just... perfection.
I'm sorry grubby, I know Orc is your favorite and you're the best version of yourself playing it but human is simply more fun to watch, at least for me.

You know, I think thats what made warcraft 3 so fun to watch, you just enjoy watching a faction either for subjective or objective point of view.
Like for some reason I was drawn to orcs once I saw their units. Not only that it does tell what personal strategies you prefer.
Orc is my fav too, but whenever i play Human it feels like ASMR. It just feels so good hearing the work hammers on the wood, and all the little units that you can micro, it's amazing.
Orcs were for me always handicapped, every race had big flying heavy hitting unit, except orc which has tauren which is basically slightly bigger big ground unit that every race has, and elves have even bigger ground unit.
They have bats to counter, though

Interesting talk about Human living and dying by the player's ability to expand. It got me thinking about the generally accepted race balance of "HU > NE > Orc > UD > HU" (I know that's less the case now than it has been in the past, but I think still generally accurate?) It only just occurred to me now, but that arrangement also doubles as a descending list of which race depends most on/has the easiest time expanding. Is that a big part of race balance, or that just coincidental?

However I always wanted to ask - Why so much hatred for critters? (especially when you are not playing against ud)
it's so they dont get in the way while he's microing, like lets say hes microing trying to target an enemy but a critter gets in the way so he clicks that instead, they also get in the way when fleeing or trying to advance.
@@ICYCREW nah :D he already spoke about this in one of the recent RUclips videos: this began in a way you described, but now it is rather an ongoing joke and an occasional flex, when in a middle of a battle instead of hitting an opponent he targets a critter. I like this explanation :)

Yes. For every race he has different rating.
I think it's fine that human is all about expanding. It gives them a unique racial identity, and I really like the asymmetry. Without that strength, they 'd just he Orcs but worse.
Also, macromanagement isn't any less of a skill expression than micromanagement

I agree with Grubby for the exact opposite reason in HU matchups. For as long as I have been watching, the amount of games where human tries for 2nd base and basically ggs out simply because they don't have expo is insane. HU feels like it has so much less flexibility, UNTIL you get the second base. I hate watching 5 guard tower HU tier 1 fight 3 destro t3 UD, or T2 Orc with lvl 2 shockwave ensnare. The HU player spends the whole game trying to NOT DIE. HU pros need to figure a strategy to allow HU to not have to rely on 2nd base to even win games. The only matchup where HU can reliably not go two base and have a good game is against NE, and that is because most of their units aren't good at breaking expos until you get to bears, which is why we see bear drops :).
A good example is UD fast expo, I have seen a bunch of recent games where UD tries to fast expo, and instead techs to tier 2 because it gets canceled, HU players do not have that luxury. They have to lose 5 peasants and sit on T1 for 8 minutes

I guess you mainly need to prevent it from happening (deny expo, or kill them faster as they have to invest a lot into t3). If too late, you need to at least scout the buildings in advance to start making counter units in time.

what do you mean? that wc3 has a small playerbase which i guess is true compared to other games but it's no where near dead.. you can definitely start learning and playing the game, one thing is.. you will get absolutely pooped on for at least a week to a month depending on how fast you learn and how hard you are trying to learn.
Get a month in ROC in until you get good win rate and learn micro / hotkey / build order basics. Then switch to TFT when you get good. :)
I dont want every race to be the same. Human being expo dependant is nice, changes it up, adds choices and options. You want the nice clean orc vs crows? Just play orc
Why is Human better with an expansion than other races? I understand Human can take the expansion faster, but once they have it what's different?
Grubby said, that human needs a lot of money on upgrades. when they got it they are too strong. More then other races.
It's mostly that they can take it faster, due to militia and powerbuilding. Spending money on an expansion means you'll be slightly weaker than your opponent for a window of time, until the expansion pays off. But that window is much shorter for human than for other races
It also doesn't hurt that they have the best towers in the game, so once they have 2 bases up with a couple towers, it's usually harder to break their base than against other races

Shadowmeld the night elf ability is night time only. Hide granted by the item works whenever
They buffed the item a while ago. It now works during the daytime as well as nighttime. Night Elf shadowmeld is still only at night
something is really bugged in that MMR, no way the last dude should be 5.3k and matched with grubby

why is it that when you play for humans, you resort to buying mercenaries. Is it because it directly depends on the build for this race or is it because the map pool has changed.
I think it's because they streamline Grubbys tech. Berserkers add ranged attacks without needing an early blacksmith. High priests add healing without needing to pause an attack for scroll, as well as the often useful abolish magic. There's a lot of utility in having these as fast as merccamp allows
If you refer to the first game: Because of the expansion, Human has to stay on T1 for much longer than the opponent. Meaning your only real option for units are footmen, which are not bad, but fall off considerably. Mercs allow you to spend your ressources instantly without any tech

Stupid question: is there a viable strategy based on Footies and weapon & armor upgrades?
This my bnet low diam opinion, but footies are good only in ealry. they dont have range like HH so they dont do dmg, and they dont have hp like grunts so they can't tank lvl2 or 3 AOE.
So, you have to trade them for a good reason. While creeping, you can suicide them so they tank dmg, or you wait for heroe lvl 3, and you go harass (super stong against orc if u have the defend upgrade)
A few weeks ago Grubby's orc got absolutely smashed by 5 footmen in a timing attack, so it can be done.

@@gdobrocsi yeah no. Your late game army should be knights, rifle, or breaker depending on the marchup. 3/3 knights are super strong
