There's quite alot of details to go through here compared to last engagement, and here I was thinking nothing could get more frantic than that dogfight around the freighters. Mirage 2 suffered light damage and lost her Pinard but fortunately the valuable Prowler drive had little to no damage, she should be back in service after some quick repairs. The loss of Mirage 3 highlights multiple problems. Firstly, her killer avoiding being spotted by any of our fleet implies that our enemy is trained or otherwise familiar with Electronic Warfare, these aren't just regular pirates we're dealing with. Secondly, that assassin ship which we didn't even get a sensor contact and target number for leaving the AO rather than assisting the rest of their fleet suggests that this was a planned surgical strike to take out one of our ships. We might have a data leak, I recommend commencing an investigation to uncover how they knew exactly where and when to strike. Lastly, the commanding officer's complete lack of response to Mirage 3's detection and damage shows that they are not adept at commanding several ships spread out over the battlefield. It's tragic that ANS Fire was lost with all hands, wiped out by that reactor detonation. The Raines' class frigate's thin armor and light point defense proved fatal to that barrage of unguided rockets. Overall, all ships performed admirably. Mirage squadron spotted the enemy fleet and allowed us to respond quickly though the loss of 2 and 3 will have consequences, ANS Radiant Gold's missile salvos were instrumental in weakening or outright destroying the enemy(or is it Royal Gold? The briefing appears to have an error?), and Wind squadron proved to be adaptive and highly combat capable, even if Fire was ultimately lost. My conclusion and recommendation after reviewing the battle is to assign the next mission to a task force with a composition of fewer but larger ships to address the revealed shortcomings. I'm thinking High Command should send Vauxhall class light cruisers or similar ships that have a balance of speed and firepower to outmaneuver and destroy smaller ships, considering the enemy's previous fleet compositions and that time is of the essence to salvage the Flesh and Vigil and recover her cargo. I hope whatever's in those cargo holds is worth all the lives lost. Good hunting and Godspeed.
This is an awesome write-up - I loved reading it. Thank you for taking the time to make it. Rest assured your comments are being taken into account for planning the next mission. I want to get a community vote involved for the next one so I am going to give you all the briefing first and have a vote on the fleet that gets dispatched!
I feel the need to urgently chime in in defense of Lt JG Holt. I think the court missed something incredibly important. On review of the battle logs, it can be clearly seen than when the Halcyon acquires a sensor reading on the target it shows red. Red is bad. If they weren't valid targets why would they be read instead of blue? Color theory is ironclad, utterly irreproachable. I politely yet firmly *demand* that Lt JG Holt be returned to command immediately. If we can't trust that blue equals good and red equals bad, what _can_ we trust?
Unfortunately Commander Robichaux was able to defeat this argument with an interesting rebuttal entitled 'But what is color anyway? Is my red the same as your red?"
There was a ship that jumped out of the system near the end of the last engagement.. It is likely this ship was the one that made away with the cargo. After studying the hyper lane this ship took and connecting systems, we believe this ship is heading for Midas in the Chiasmia system. We are dispatching the Mirage 1 and Mirage 2 ahead of you to try and find the target. They have been ordered NOT to engage and to leave the system as soon as they are detected or the fighting starts. You will lead a task force of 3 frigates and 2 picket ships to intercept this enemy vessel before it can be offloaded and retrieve that cargo. I do not need to stress how important this cargo is... Do NOT cause a reactor meltdown. Watch your fire. We want a Mobility kill only.... This could be a prime time to take prisoners for questioning as well. We will keep 2 frigates and 2 picket ships on standby at Kribensis until you can return to that sector. (Mission has you looking for that one ship that disengaged at the end, who has been met by ships from another faction/more pirates to either A, regroup and help escort it out of Federation space. Or B, try and pull a propaganda card claiming to be a civilian freighter or something. Causing public opinion of Federation to go down.. Resulting in more strict ROEs.. Considering the theme of the first 2 missions.. This is likely just a diversion to pull ships away from Kribensis so the OSP can push into it harder to take that part of Federation space as their own and/or disrupting trade and Federation relations. )
The plot thickens.... Keep the commentary, I'm good for the explanations of your actions and decisionmaking. But also don't hesitate to have a quiet period when you need to plot out a chain of orders and act on a situation, and THEN tell us if that flows better. Gotta look up these mods, this is building up to something good and I like the handiwork.

For fun I’ll be role playing a bit: From a Independent Alliance Navy Analyst: I think that Wind Squadron could’ve done with more specialisation among its Raines-class frigates. The Raines is versatile yes but they excel when fitted to be dedicated to a certain role. In a revised Wind Squadron I’d have kept the Viscount (ANS Wind) as it is. I’d make ANS Fire a “Gun Frigate” armed with two mk64 and two mk62 gun turrets. ANS Water as a “Jammer Frigate” with two Blanket Radar Jammers, a VLS-2 and a VLS-1-46. Then ANS Earth as a “PD Frigate”, likely with two Stonewall flak PDTs and two Defender PDTs. Regarding the Viscount-class I must say that it has certainly shown it’s worth and I agree that a second look into the heavy frigate program would be worth doing. Though I must say, where did fleet command even get it anyway? I thought they were all in scrapyards or mothballs. Though I believe that a future Heavy Frigate class would likely be specialised for fleet defence as a PD escort ship and for destroying enemy small ships that get too close.
Loving the neb content! As a huge pvp sicko(like most neb players) I'm excited to see people enjoying the systems enough to develop these pve scenarios.
Loving the narrative depth here, especially all of those background voices that chimed in! It's wonderful to see the other side of the conflict from the last story based mod you played
I have no clue what's going on, just having fun watching or as background noise. Will say though that the ship name ANS wind sounds unfortunate if you say it a bit too fast. 😮
If you place your formations in loose formation, the individual ships will be able to rotate faster. Also, I'm not sure why your ripostes weren't launching. A bug? Or poor ANS maintinance?
By look of that engagement, the 'pirate' forces must have a staging area closer by than the Alliance Forces. SIGINT is going to have a bit of a task to get something actionable to command to stop these guys from crashing all the parties happening in this area. Is there also an issue of a leak in regards to the initial cargo escort? During that 1st engagement, a couple of the 'pirate' corvettes seemed inordinately happy to be shot at in the rear just to take down the cargo transport.
Love your videos! But man ANS Flesh, ANS Water....... That is an unfortunate abbreviation.... Yes... I'm 5 year old. Please tell me you did this on purpose? Still love the series, please more episodes!

The Wind had a Parallax for that engagement. My thoughts for the loadout was it was an old group with old equipment, but we will be moving into newer ships and loadouts soon. What the tribunal was supposed to show, or at least hint at, was that Robichaux was influencing things so that Renard didn't get in trouble for what happened in mission 1. Why? FYI, the HE Frag warheads on the Ripostes do zero damage to ship hulls. Same as the other dedicated PD weapons like 20mm, Flak, etc.
