- Apologies for being away for a bit. I hope everyone out there is doing well. Obviously, because of the coronavirus there have been lots of challenges recently, including Rob not being able to come over to shoot as well as just a basic "what does all this mean anymore?" kind of thing. I've gone through a really wide range of emotions, ups and downs in terms of motivation, on top of being super busy with some other stuff. Everything's explained in the video. I'm also sharing some of your best REAL work from home outfits and COVID-19 quarantine outfits that you were brave enough to share with me on Instagram. Enjoy!

Your classic content will do fine. Maybe you could do a "how to dress for a business skype call" video? But most of all: stay safe and healthy! Same goes for Robin.
Maybe! Thanks so much for the good wishes. Same to you.
I'm a doctor and just got a break after 76 hours of work (finally a day off) and I don't have a work outfit for home...
Thank you for what you do.
Hope you got some sleep in that time. Great work I could never handle it.
@@toonsoffun5733 it's a difficult job to do but for me, well it's my passion and I enjoy every bit of that, i don't care for the hours I have to work, the smile of one patient (especially kids) and the ability to save someone's life, worth everything in this world and gives me the energy to keep going. + I gave the Hippocratic Oath.
Hey buddy, I just wanted to say thank you for your service and response to this outbreak. You are a definite hero.
john psath THANK YOU DR. !
The guy in the red plaid shirt and the joggers with slippers looked the best in my opinion.
I dug that look too!
You look really good in uniform.
Many thanks! Appreciate the support.
Glad to see you and your wife are keeping well during these times, Brian. All the best!
Thanks, Andrew! Same to you.
I think its vital that we maintain ourselves especially at this time, press on stick at it dont let things change us, then we can all jump back in when the time comes, working from home...proper trousers, proper shirt, smart slippers xx as we say in the UK
'Keep Calm and Carry On'
Right on. My 30-min body weight and resistance band workouts aren't quite the same as the gym but they're helping.
He Spoke Style and thinking about fashion is even more important during all this. As a front line health care worker I need this escape for my mental health, so thanks.
You're very welcome. And thanks for what you do. Stay safe.
Hey Brian. Thanks for posting a new video even though you haven’t been all that interested lately. Like you, it’s hard to get super excited about new spring clothes and style when you can’t go out of your house. The occasional sweater or polo for a zoom meeting is about as exciting as it has been lately. But I am grateful to still have my job and grateful that I am still healthy. We will all get through this and will be stronger because of it. I think our interest will rejuvenate once we are on the other side and look forward to your continued contributions to men’s classic style. You have certainly been an inspiration with your website and videos. Thank you.
Good to have you back, Brian! I indeed have some video suggestions:
-Good places to buy loungewear (pajamas, sweatpants, robes etc.)
-More videos about your favourite cocktails (I liked the last one a lot!)
-Cooking recipes (I know, it's not what your channel is about. But being able to cook a decent meal adds to the skills a gentleman should have in my opinion)
-Maybe something about glasses and/or shades (?)
-A video about hats (different forms, materials and places to get a proper hat in this day and age)
-As you mentioned in the video, I would love to learn more about classic smoking jackets and where to get them
Stay safe and healthy and enjoy the time with robin and your pets! :-)
Thanks for the recommendations!
Brian,
Thank you so much for keeping it real. No, mens fashion doesn't really mean much in the large scheme of things, especially given our current circumstances. Your content though does help maintain a sense of normalcy for those of us out here who are still going to work day in and day out, as I often find myself rewatching older videos during downtime. Thank you once again for your videos and stay safe out there.
Very cool! Thanks so much for the comment and support, Jeremy. Best to you.
Been wearing chinos, t shirt, and slippers, lol. Also been wearing a watch and cologne just to keep a routine.
Nice! I'll put a splash on here and there as well.
I did learn about your Musical interests, from previous videos. Had no idea you’re in the Military AND the spokesperson for your band...Super cool!
Thanks so much! Appreciate the comment.
How about a sunglasses round-up, or some of your favourite movie styles/inspirations?
Don't feel like you have to make videos though during this time. I for one appreciate how honest you were about this.
Wishing you both well!
Like the movie/style inspo idea. Many thanks for that and same to you!
100% Authentic. Thank you Brian, this vlog has improved my personal style in a major way. Good luck with all that you have going on right now. Just don't forget us and don't keep us waiting for too long.
Appreciate that very much. Had to be honest here.
Hey Brian, I've been a fan of yours since 2014 with the advent of "The Saxophone Standard" back when I was 12 years old. I, much like you, chose the saxophone because I looked up to my cool friend (and I wanted to be just like him!). I then proceeded to stumble upon you again during my freshman year of high school, when I became increasingly involved in style and following style-based content creators. I was so excited to see a familiar face in the industry that I clicked on one of your videos, hit the subscribe button, and haven't looked back since.
Thank you, both for serving our country and for inspiring us to live stylishly and happily. Great hearing from you in this video!
I would not have survived COVID-19 without your channel - its been great to just sit back and enjoy and I have used it to 'take stock' of both me and my wardrobe - well done Brian you saved many of us.
I learn something new about you every week, Bryan.😏 My Brother-in-law served in the Army right after he graduated from West Point. He did tours in the Persian Gulf and Iraq and in 2013, retired as a Colonel. So I thank you both for serving and thanks as always for the in depth video about you.😊🇺🇸
Of all of RUclips...your my #1 channel! For what it’s worth, imo, take some time off to enjoy your loved ones. No good man has ever regretted spending too much time with his family. You’re true subscribers will wait for your content. As much as I look forward to your new vids, don’t sacrifice for what is MOST important. Especially during these times. Blessings my friend!
Appreciate the support, Kyle. You guys are the best.
Brian I really hope you're staying safe and healthy bro. All the best to you and Robin in this difficult time. Always appreciate your professionalism and incredibly high-quality content. Also, you totally rock Army Band uniform. Be well, my friend. Looking forward to many more good years of HSS.
1) Good to have you back, you were missed! 2) These are historic times - it seems appropriate to acknowledge and document them. 3) Very cool Job #1 - I might look some performances. 4) Q: With your classy kinda style, could you still sneak in a chore jacket? 5) Wishing you & Robyn good mental and physical health throughout these trying times.
Thanks for the comment, Roger. Appreciate that. And same to you!
Most importantly, glad your family is safe and healthy. Keep up the great work with the band as it's things like that which lift people's sprits. As far as channel content, this was fun to see. However, I absolutely love the "regular" content even (and especially) during a time like this. Watching it gives some sort of sense of normalcy even when it will likely be a while before we are back to that. Me, for WFH, I consciously try to at least dress semi-nicely so that I don't mentally feel like its the weekend. It's certainly not the same as work-wear, but it helps me get in the right mindset. Thanks and stay safe!
Good to have you back Mr. Sacawa. Stay safe! My home outfit is still me wearing trousers (slacks) with a casual shirt or a turtleneck. That's the benefit of tailored clothing that it's very comfortable and easy to wear even at home. There is very little comfort difference between my tailored slacks and my pajama bottoms. It's the shoes where I have really taken a hit, I roam around in flip flops and sometimes even barefooted. I wish I had some nice slippers or espadrilles to wear around the house, as even tassel loafers seem "too much" to wear around the house.
Thanks so much for the comment, Aziz! I would highly recommend Belgian Shoes Mr. Casual. They're great for around the house and incredibly stylish.
Thanks for posting this, and being real in what you said! I hear that you're not so focused on style currently. For me, I actually find that I'm conscious of dressing to help maintain frame of mind. I also work in the basement, so jeans and a sweater layered over a t-shirt or even a turtleneck is my look, plus a blanket to help stay warm! I'd be interested in whatever you want to share- either your regular content, or your thoughts on how to stay real and sane and connected in this time from your point of view as an introvert who has to be in the public eye (or ears) so much for work.
I appreciate you being candid. I hope you and your family are staying safe.
Same to you and thanks for the support.
Appreciate the videos man, you’re refreshing to listen to and you give me good ideas for outfits to wear to court !
You're very welcome. Thanks for the comment and support.
Nice to hear from you buddy, your right style not far up the priority list ATM, lots of folks struggling, like yourself, comfortable lounging attire is the way to go, stay safe chap
Same to you, Gerry. Always appreciate the comments.
Thank you for being real. You're the man. If you feel you need time off, you should take time to be with family. You owe nothing to us, as viewers, we (should) all understand, your psychological well being is the most important priority right now. It's looking like we're going to be in lock down for another month or so, and slowly getting back out after that. I'd love to see and hear some of what you're missing right now, and where you plan to go for your first meal IN a restaurant again? Thanks for staying in touch.
Glad to have you back Brian! I live in Ecuador so those are linen pants 👍 the dogs have never been happier now that we are home all the time 😅 I love your regular content but maybe something quarantine related. 1. Favorite movies 2. activities to do at home (In Ecuador you literally are not allowed to to go out from 14-05) 3. Love to see more behind the scenes (blog style) 👍😄
Thanks, Lasse. Yes, we were just saying that Coco is getting so spoiled at the moment...
He Spoke Style haha mine is definitely also getting spoiled (not that she wasn’t already 😅) hope that they aren’t going to be to depressed when thinks hopefully gets back to normal again.
Yep, living in sweatpants and a sweatshirt!!
Not apologizing!
Hi Brian, this is Jose from Chicago. Great menswear advice on your channel!
Below are some content suggestions:
- Essential scarves
- Essential belts
- Essential socks
- Essential bags
- Essential pajamas
Thanks, Jose! Hope you're well.
My most respect. Thank you for explaining . I was a US NAVY Corpsman so I can understand.
Awesome! How many years?
I have had the time to be more particular about my dressing. I am better dressed than usual. Shining my shoes etc.
That's great! Good for you!
Seeing your videos gives me hope that everything is okay. Thanks for the content as always!
Thanks so much, Brandon. Stay well.
Absolutely keep doing the same ol content in my opinion. Much like sports radio is still talking sports and the NFL is moving forward with a normal schedule, we need the distraction from the 24/7 news cycle of doom and gloom and the fact that many people are now thinking about how they’ll pay their bills. Our interests and hobbies, as well as those that share them, are badly needed right now. Also, I don’t have any social media, except for LinkedIn, which is quickly becoming FB but I digress, but my work from outfit has stayed business casual as I’m trying to keep myself in a business mindset as I work from home. It’s still a casual step back from my usual suit and tie. I hope you and Robin stay happy and healthy!
Thanks for chiming in, Joshua. Appreciate the support. And same to you.
Brian, keep being you... we'll be watching.
Thanks so much and Wilco!
The outtake at the end was gold 👌🏼
I knew I'd get her eventually!!! Thanks for catching that!
You should always care about style. Don’t let the standards drop !!
Roger that.
First of all, That's a COOL other job!! Second, my job is usually on jobsites demonstrating/training with construction equipment. My daily outfit is usually steel toed Redwings, Wrangler jeans, and company logo polo or tshirt, etc. WFH I wore basically the same at first. But then being cooped up started messing with my head. So I started dressing up more since I was basically "an office guy" now. Funny how I dress more formally now than before. Definitely an anomaly during this time. It started with non logo shirts, then shoes I don't wear normally, then chinos and slacks. My wife thinks I've gone crazy. If I start looking longingly at my tie collection before my next video conference call I'll know she's right.
That is so awesome that you play in the army field band!! I greatly appreciate the video.
You're welcome, William. Appreciate the comment.
Glad to see you're doing well. A nice touch giving everyone an update. I'm with you PJ's and tee shirts all the way. This maybe an opportunity to change your content. I a thought
Mmmmmm, I'll be sticking to what got me here, but I'm happy to have an audience that also gets reality. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the video. My wfh garb is pjs if I have to go to the supermarket it’s sweat pants. I’ve been redeployed so I actually have to leave the house but the dress code then is as casual as I can get, so it’s back to jeans which I had stopped wearing to work more than a year ago.
You're very welcome! Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for this Brian, such a refreshing and honest video, really enjoyed it. For me it's been robe, sweatpants and t-shirts... Haven worned a single shirt since this thing started. I have worn some fragrances though after the first week or two passed, puts me on a good mood and I share the flat with my gf so it's a nice touch.
Have to agree with you, jeans are my least favorite and the last thing I go to in the closet. I read about your background and was very impressed, you have an interesting portfolio.
Thanks, Richard. I've had some adventures...
From where did you read his background? I'm interested in knowing him better as a new sub
Bryan ! you are great as always and I hope that corona virus nightmare ends soon and everyone back to the normal life! Thank you for the video !
You're very welcome, as always, Shehab. Good to see you.
The smoking jacket! 👌🧐
Killer!!
Hi Brian, First of all I'm glad to know you and Robin are fine !
I was reading your last post on your blog about "the styles advice to work from home" in which you wear a Valstarino Jacket. I've been looking for a Valstarino jacket for the last 6 months and I can't find any retailers outside of Mr Porter and The Rake. Could you please tell where/how you bought yours ?
Sartorially yours and stay strong !
Thanks, Anthony! Have you tried emailing Valstar directly? Matteo is always great about responding.
@@hespokestyle Well I didn't, but I'm definitely going to ! Thanks for responding and stay safe.
I discovered your channel a few weeks ago.... amazing!!
Greetings from sunny Athens-Greece.
Stay safe everyone♡♡♡
Hey Brian, had no idea you were in the Army Field Band. I'm a retired Navy Musician (Piano) and enjoy your channel very much. All the best to you and your family. Stay safe.
Nice! Did you do 20 and out?
@@hespokestyle Yes, spent 13 years in various fleet bands before finishing out my final 7 in the USNA Band. Great memories and cherished moments with extraordinary musicians.
Hey brian, and idea for a video. Talk about items of clothing that are the most versatile for you and you wear the most. Then try to put them together to form a basic minimalist wardrobe of versatile clothing(try to include shoes and acessories and colors, textures too).
I usually do a capsule wardrobe video for each season. Had one planned for spring, but you know, some stuff happened.
Cannot believe your in the army! I’m going army when I graduate college! That’s awesome man!
this was a different kinda video. enjoyed it. take care Brian!
Glad to hear it! Thanks, as always, for chiming in.
I think you should do a mix of content:
Keep the fashion content. Spring is here and we’re going to get out of this situation.
Make a video with where to buy clothes and slippers to wear inside the house.
Probably a nice skin care/treatment we can do while at home. Something extra that’s probably not so easy to do when going out every day.
Keep up with the good content and stay safe!
Hey Brian glad you are safe and well! Was starting to get worried about you and the HSS family. I think now might be a good time for more videos like this, bringing the community together, and more videos perhaps on self-grooming and/or wardrobe maintenance content?
Anyway let's hope this all mulls over quickly, and hope to see more updates from you soon! Polos and shorts are my go tos these days btw. -Han
Grooming video! Anyone know how to do a good fade?
@@hespokestyle Having my wife do my hair was pretty fun, though cleaning up was quite something!
Would be interested to see you move from your style, the office/film style, and accessories, to perhaps your kitchen/house style.
Will consider. Thanks!
I would love to see more content about your watches, as it seems your collection may have changed since your last watch video. Do you have a regular rotation or do you choose your watch based on the outfit? Thanks for all you do and for HSS.
Looking good man! Your advice on fashion and style especially on how to wear different suits help me keep my sense of style fresh and thriving
So glad to hear that. Thanks so much for the comment and support, Robbie!
Great to see you back. Stay safe mate.
Same to you!
By all means, be natural and go with the times about content. It would be artificial to pretend nothing is going on and as your reaction to Instagram was, it could appear superficial too. The true style you sport is a reflection of your state of mind and affairs not "clothes and looks".
You could talk about ways you're making your home life better, self-reflections, challenges and improvements in interpersonal relationships, Live jam session, cocktail night (if you still drink) or tea coffee hour, and throw in a style idea if it comes up naturally. Like you, I could care less about wardrobe right now, but when we all pull through this, the time will return with a new outlook. Great outfit for home btw*. Glad you guys are doing ok and getting on board. This is a group effort and very much a state of war.
*I would take strong note about the robe if Robin had an instant No haha
Thanks for all the recommendations! Robin and I will be doing a Q&A video that we'll put out next week.
I think this channel is really short in subscribers for the really really excellent content he upload! love your channel and thank you for everything!!! Blessings for you and your family
You're very kind. Subs will come!
can you produce a video showing off your suit collection? include the good and the bad to show how your style has developed
Perhaps at some point! Did you catch the MTM suit mistakes video I did not too long ago?
Thanks for your service man! ❤️ (Also, thanks to you, I've gotten into fragrances-purchased Creed's Green Irish Tweed, Christian Dior's Eau Sauvage, and Acqui di Parma's Colonia.)
Nice! Those are three great fragrances.
@@hespokestyle 👍🏿 I am waiting for Tom Ford's Italian Cypress to come back so I can have a nice Fall one. Figure GIT for Spring, Colonia for Summer, Eau Savage for Winter (slash everyday), and that missing one for Fall. Maybe Ebano like you suggested?
Cool video! Very impressive career you’ve got going on. I really enjoyed watching this video and all the other ones as well. 🔥🔥 thanks for sharing.
You are correct, as it relates to what is happening now, dressing well pales in comparison. I also am losing interest. However, I hold on to the hope that everyone's essentials are met (by that I mean good health and healing) and that one day we will again be able to distract ourselves with something other than basic survival. Stay Safe!
Well said. Thanks for chiming in, Michael.
Crazy times, stay safe.
Cheers
Hey Brian, what if you created a specific grooming video? Nail care? Proper nail length & management? Proper way to cut finger nails as well as toe nails? Pumice stone tutorials?
Not really my area of expertise but thanks for the suggestions!
@@hespokestyle lol I was merely attempting to alter some I have seen in locker rooms when gyms were an actual thing... lol
damn I need to know where this awesome smoking jaket is from?
For everyone reading this, stay safe and healthy!
I'm told it's by Antonio Pio Mele in Milan!
Can you do a favorite tshirt/sweatshirt thing? Thank you!
Great to see you again brother !I would like to see your suggestions on how to combine colors, patterns and fabrics. Which goes with what and how. Stay safe untailored!
Hey. I enjoy your style and video very much. Can you share with with me what software do you use to you your video and the show of your phone in the screen where everyone can see, that's pretty cool. Can you share your how-to? Thx.
Nothing fancy. I record the screen and then Ian syncs it up in the edit.
Nice content. Watching your videos work as an ASMR for me. Thanks n keep posting. Love from India.
Woah, woah, woah, hold on a second. You are in the Army band? Pleasure to be your brother in arms Master Sergeant.
Thank you. Stay safe.
Same to you, Ron!
Would love an episode regarding Loungewear 🤘🏻
Thanks for sharing, appreciate your candour. Don't worry about making content for us, take your time and stay healthy!
Thanks for the support, Joshua.
Hey Brian, I apologize for neglecting the thankfulness of your service!
I'm a high school band director, and have been watching your videos for some time. I had no idea you were in the Army Field Band!
I'm just realizing that I've shown your saxophone demonstration video in school many a time.
I rock my corduroy pants or sweatpants.
Nice!
For a Zoom appointment when meeting a professional for the first time, wore a suit, why not? Dressed it down with a polo shirt so not over the top.
Hey Brian,
For the life of me I can’t seem to find where this lovely black sweatshirt is from. Sorry if previously asked but would you mind sharing the brand/model. It looks quite heavy and structured which is something hard to find these days in a simple sweatshirt.
Thanks!
Mert
Ma daaaaai!!!
Whaaaat!
Hmmm?
Hooyah! Prior US Navy myself, Love your content!
Nice! Thanks, Chris! Appreciate the support.
Just received a pair of Allen Edmonds loafers....it's a perfect time to break them in.
Nice. What model?
@@hespokestyle Randolph Penny Loafer in dark chili color. Normally $395 shoe, I just bought for $295 so I'm very pleased. These medium brown shoes have a real deep red undertone that is beautiful IMO.
Brian, It'd be interesting to know how you organize your workflow at home. Greetings from Peru.
That's a great question. I am finding that I am very reliant on deadlines and stress related to meeting those deadlines. With the sort of nebulousness of each day, it's been hard to get into a routine!
Need to look proper, you never know who is gonna face time you!
Be safe and sane, cheers 🥂
Hahaha. Cheers.
Man. You are doing good. Keep up what you doing
I think you should stay true to your brand. Yes, we're all thrown by this turn of events. But eventually we'll emerge. Eventually we'll return to being seen in public without gloves or masks. Eventually we'll realize that, once more, people meeting us for the first time are making judgments about us based on what we wear, how we groom, what our manners are. You offer insightful ideas on how to grapple with those issues.
Hooah! Great to have you back!!
If I shower, brush my teeth and make my bed...It’s a good day!
How about a watch update? And also going into more about the financing of watches in general I know you already made a first watch video
That'll be coming at some point!
Hi Brian!!! Hope u r doing good... What is ur opinion on wearing chino shorts and crew neck tees at home??? Much love from India!!!
You are a rare breed, sir.
Content on hair would be great! Struggling without access to a barber
I’ve thought about that. Need to get in touch with a barber friend!
Maybe discuss your personal style icons/heroes/main inspirations?
Good one. Just wrote it down!
Wow had no idea you were in the US Army Field band. Maybe you could play that saxophone for a video. Hope you are staying well. Appreciate your content as always!
Now you know! Thanks for the comment and support, Ricardo. Same to you.
He’s got your eyeglasses...
Who?
He Spoke Style @ 4:30, at least a similar style. 😃
Welcome back brian, good to see that you are doing well. Did you ever announce who was the winner of your $7,000. Clothing contest?
Not yet! I am getting around to it!
I would like to see style videos... Whole many of us aren't dressing up it leaving the house, some of us still are (I'm an admin for an essential company) and there's been a season change! How about some spring style videos to help those who still have to brave the outside world and for the rest who need a distraction!
I hear ya. It's tough to shoot those without Rob here though!
What a great looking audience! Be safe all.
Cheers!
Glad to see U back, stay safe
Same to you. Cheers!
Have you ever thought about sketching/designing your own outfits? It would be cool to try to make some original or nice takes on outfits! Try using some sketches for inspiration!
