They actually nailed this scene! The way Hao's head and body fall off after Yoh beheads him is way more unsettling than I expected. Not to mention that new remix of Hao's theme. It's simply chilling 😍
This scene is one of my favs. Opacho's reaction is on point: Hao, maybe for the first time since we met him, is no longer himself. His body and image are only a gateway for other souls to get through. His flesh, like his mind throughout his lives, absorbs so much of everyone else that it's no longer his. Despite this, there's longing in the way he extends his hand towards his twin and adopted child. There's still a little bit of Hao in that animated corps. The beheading is swift. Yoh, like Hao, has no doubt, no hesitation, though he's in pain. I love it. Also, the King starting mankind's extinction with killing shamans gives a whole new spin on his Shaman Kingdom plan. Maybe he figured out that what he wanted was heaven all along, a place without harm and hardship, where his soul can rest. But he doesn't want to be alone there, too.
Dang.. the way Hao took out the souls out of everyone scared me, especially with the chanting OST. Even, Goldva went insane and Yoh lost hope for a moment for the second time. The fact Yoh got angry and cut Hao’s head off showed how truly out of control Hao went
2:15 It was the music here that sold me. The tension, the chills I got when hao began killing everyone by a mere glance, Opachao terrified for her life knowing she was about to be killed by the person she looked up to, best episode they made yet and I can't wait for the series finale.
So, I watched the part that I needed and I'm convinced. Hao didn't destroy humanity on this point of time. Because when Yoh asks him: "So, what are going to do now? " Hao answers: "Of course, I will destroy disgusting humans. " That's probably why they cut out manga panel where Earth was literally annihilated.
Yeah, I wasn't sure at first, but the manga suggests he only killed all of the shamans we knew for now, and earth is next. But I'll still find it a little opposing because Ruthefor said it's "total annohalation"
@Cam Dempsey hey really found interesting what you said so I wanted to bring up a cool theory by a friend of mine. Basically the theory is that Hao won in his third lifetime EXACTLY because he ripped his heart out (metaphorically, his emotional and gentle side), and that's Yoh. That's why they're polar opposites that make each other complete. This comes from the fact that Hao was most certainly way more powerful than Yohken and Matamune, yet he died in that battle. So, he probably wavered because of Matamune and that's what killes him, his emotion. So he cut all of that off into Yoh.
@@NorthernWind_Vlll, kinda disproven by how Hao still shows compassion towards people and still cries remembering Asanoha. Personally, I think Hao just put all his determination to win in third life and locked down his heart for this. And as Starhigh suggested to me, the half thing could be just a metaphor for them as twins and mirrors of each other.
Just recently finished this series. When you are used to watching One Piece adapt maybe 2 -3 panels per episode and then this one speed runs the entire Heroes vs Patch arc. It's absolutely insane
One piece fans have it hard man haha, SK was too fast tho. A middle ground with nice pacing would've been ideal, some 80 episodes for the entire series or 70-75 could've been the best adaptation.

I find Hao fascinating on how he treats the purgatory like how Goku entering the time chamber and trained for a thousands of years to attain a million furyoku.
That's why i really love Hao, he's very a villian in a totally wrong telled story, because he had his reasons and i completely understand it, humans only care about money and themselves, This is just a masterpiece ❤
Hope you're right, I mean no studio would ever dare to mess up the highest points on an important arc, that's just nonsense 😂 All jokes aside, this actually had an amazing oppressing feel becauss of the slow paced come of Hao and his execution being such an easy thing.
When you make Shaman King 2021 videos, I have a more certain enjoyment of scenes from that anime. It wasn't perfect, but I did watch it the right way: as an extension of 2001 that fulfilled a canon ending. So seeing you make these videos is awesome.
patch song, basically brainwashed all of them into serving the shaman king. It's the reason why Silva who originally was trying to stop hao, ended up working for him. (Idk if this is 100% true, this is just what i remember from the manga)
@@voltwolf9839 i don't think so. The patch song only boosts their abilities, Silva was brainwashed and tortured to be loyal to the patch who are supposed not to intervene because he tried to stop Hao. And Hao was the king, so it's their very own life they need to put on the line protecting him.

Even better - this wouldn't have happened, if they let Jeanne actually fight. The thing is, she could probably 1v10 the Patch tribe. 1v1 isn't even a question. Like Brom almost won against the squad, and Jeanne dispatched him in about 5 seconds. But Jeanne stomping the final boss rush - as much as I would have enjoyed it myself - would feel a bit anti-climatic. So the squad doesn't want to do it that way, they want to use these fights as their last chance to train before Hao, they weren't really on board with the plan to kill Hao before he wakes up either, and killing Hao doesn't really solve anything either. So they opted out not to use their best fighter
@RancorSnp yeah, I mean the wright of Ren vs Nichrome or Yoh vs Silva can't be matched by Jeanne killing ten patches haha. Noting that all the patches have been amped up by the patch song, so they aren't small fry. Remember Radim was in the arena when they tried bombing Hao and he got out with no issues. So I do think that we're talking about formidable opponents on some stages (not all).
Yoh is meant to be seen as someone who doesn't care too much about failure, he isn't set to be the shaman king, he said it many times. He only wants an easy relaxed life. They are parallels. Life is meaningless, so you shouldn't care and enjoy what you have. Life is meaningless, so you need to end it and destroy the world as it is.

Both versions are great. But the old ond doesn't truly have a motive, he's just evil, while the new one has a clear goal and a reason.
