I’m the little kid sat on the wall behind the goal at the irons end. I remember being blown away by the atmosphere and seeing my favorite players at such close proximity. Leroy! Leroy ! Haha

I agree, West Ham do have a lot of loyal and passionate fans. I was just pointing out that they too have experienced some crap attendances....and Chelsea, despite having recorded some crap attendances, have also pulled in some of the biggest crowds in English football. It was only really a 20 year period at Chelsea where the crowds were mediocre (around 75-95). Before and after that they have been good. To say Chelsea don't have any loyal or passionate fans just isn't true. Every club does.

Yes he was a big player had skill and strength hard as nails on the pitch, loved it when players like him gave it all for the club . I remember him having a tussle with Colin Todd prior to the Cup Final luckily the FA let him play in the final after being sent off.

Hated that Scoreline kit. It was in between our beautiful Adidas kit & the lovely Bukta BAC Windows kit that came after.

I was in my seat in the West Lower for this match. I think the season before we had also beaten Chelsea 5-3.

Can't find anything on that pal. It's just a load of previews for United West Ham games. What does the 'West Ham are 7th, Chelsea are 12th" refer to?

I was there in the Chelsea end! The stand emptied to nothing by the time of the 4th goal! The Police ejected a lot of people for chanting “who the fuckin’ ‘ell are you?”.
Others were dejected, others went to find their mob! I was one of the few left! A very one sided game and West Ham weren’t that brilliant, Chelsea were crap and couldn’t defend for toffee!

it was not a sending off offence, the bloke kicked him first.

Also....just had a look at West Ham's gates for the 85/86 season and found the following: Birmingham - 15,530; QPR - 14,004 (for a London derby?!); Liverpool - 19,762 (under 20k for Liverpool? Chelsea had 46k against them this season); Leicester - 12,125; Swansea (in the League Cup) - 9,282; Villa - 15,034. And bear in mind, this was apparently your best team and season ever when you finished 3rd! "ALWAYS get good crowds, always crowds of 27,28, 30 thousand!" Rightio.

Look it up on a website called West Ham Stats. It's all there. Season 1992/93 also makes interesting reading. 11,921 vs Watford, 11,493 vs Derby, 6,981 vs Crewe in the League Cup, 10,326 vs Sunderland. 11,842 vs Oxford. Even your big game against Millwall could only attract 15,723. But then....at the end of the season when you won promotion....hey presto, 27,399 'die hard, loyal supporters' crawled out the woodwork for the Cambridge game.

1992-93 was the season a lot stayed away in protest because of the Bond Scheme.. i was at the Sunderland game.. played on a Sunday.. West Ham won 6-0 & that 10K attendance was boosted by 2,500 Sunderland fans..
