Have just come across this video. Wonderful stuff. Two things really stand out. 1. Brooking was a genius - if he was French or Italian they would have built the national team around him. Like Pirlo or Platini. 2. The atmosphere of Upton Park when it was rocking - nothing like it.
Many thans for sharing. The Den Haag and Eintracht Frankfurt games were probably the best nights ever (IMHO) at Upton Park. Also, although he was impartial, I can't help thinking Brian Moore got extra excited when West Ham delivered the goods. Great days they - and the best are yet to come!!??
John McGowan I agree i was at both games, the Eintracht game was like no other, amazing night, dashing home to watch it on tv with the great Brian Moore.
I was in the 'chicken run' for the Eintracht game and for many other games. Definitely the Eintracht game was without doubt the most tense and exciting game I have ever seen, the atmosphere in the ground was electric and I'm sure it got to Brian Moore who I always thought was a secret West Ham fan. Great memories.
Notice how many times "Brooking" was mentioned"? And that Keith Robson goal has to be the only one where an expectant cheer from the crowd was followed by an immediate disappointed groan, followed by a a huge cheer, all within four seconds.
